I don't generally have an issue with talk about balance, to pretend that things don't need to be changed in an MMO is silly and to pretend that PVP alone drives these changes is again, silly. While a nerf sometimes needs to happen, I prefer seeing counters rather than nerfs, like block breakers rather than outright nerfs to classes like Templar and Dragon Knights.

That said, these forums are starting to get a little silly themselves, half way down the page we have a thread on bow kills being over powered, a little lower than that we have a post on bow users being useless.

There are other examples but I think you get my point, that highlights it perfectly. It's not like I don't moan myself, my duo partner must hate being on mumble with me sometimes because that's all I do, mumble while I'm playing but a good number of people here just frankly need to learn to play.

You are right, but what MMO hasn't been like that?

Yeah but when you have a 1 button click that renders entire skill lines completly useless or a 1 shot kill (almost) from stealth while it is fun for those who use those builds it kind of ruins the fun for the rest of the crowd..

And when Zenimax says you can play how you want they must fix imbalances like this. For example as a Sorcerer in pvp I do not want to be forced to run with holding block all the time, and have 1 finger on teleport button not to be instakilled from a sniper. Or not beeing able to attack a class because everything gets reflected (worse for archers).

Sure some classes shall have strength and weakness to eachother but a good balance is like favor 60 to 40 not 100 to nil.

Also insta deaths while its fun to deliver is not so fun for the receiver since it feels like skill play no part. Just strolling around and then BAM dead...

We're on a trip with this forum that seems to lead to good old 4flamers.
Well, except for the fact that our beloved mods and admins try to prevent it from becoming that way with the ZOS-regime ordered happyness and pink glass view.

    Lysergic acid diethylamide for everyone!

This forum would be a much better place for discussion, ideas, feedback or whatever constructive, if we could get any kind of help from ESO officials. Help in a form of a simple communication, comments, polls, Q&A, ...
Right now, this forum is only for players and forum mods. How can it be any better?

Its been like this since release. However I agree. But some games don' have this problem with it's community.
Add PvP loot drops for some risk/reward in this game.

Sometimes it isn't a single skill, but a combination of skills used together that produce the undesired result. The developers then have to figure which skill actually needs to be fine tuned (or nerfed) in order to prevent that combination of skills from being so over-powered. I think that's why it sometimes takes them so long to "fix" things.

I think this is a good example. It's not really the bow that is over-powered itself. However, put it in the hands of a skilled NB wearing the right armor with the right skills and traits and the right buffs, and it can be. Knowing the bow by itself is pretty weak, what do you actually nerf in order to fix this?

    Which ones?

I visit the forums of all the MMOs I currently play (WOW, Rift, LoTRO, FFXI, FFXIV, GW2, SW:TOR) and they ALL have the sort of posts the OP is commenting on.

That said, the games with a significant PVP content are A LOT WORSE, far more QQing goes on over 'balance' when PVP is involved.

I think it's actually getting better, a couple of months ago this thread would have been instantly trolled and flamed mercilessly.

Which could imply there are far less white knights among players, as we all can see how abysmal communication between ZOS and us, is.

ESO forums have always been strange. I've gamed online since the 90's and it wasn't until ESO that I realized a certain type of stereotypical gamer actually existed in large numbers.

I suspect it has a lot to do with the game attracting people who aren't equipped to play well with others, lack the ability to communicate with those of differing opinion, or just don't enjoy MMO's and wouldn't have touched it if Elder Scrolls wasn't in the title.

All mmo forums look like that dude. If someone kills you in PvP, you dont try to fight back, you go on forums to QQ

If defeating Molag Bal is hard for you, you dont try hard (took me 14 tries after launch, before nerfs), you just go QQ on forums

Thats how modern gaming works. Most of players dont want any challenge, they just want to enjoy their interactive movie, and after they waltz easily tru everything, guess what they do? Go QQ on forums about not enuff game content :s
