I guess this problem is born out of the fact that this is the first MMORPG for many people.

Endgame content has pretty much always been groups, joining up with other people to challenge this content is the whole point of 99% of MMORPGs that have come before. This is a TES game, but it is not a single-player game. If you aren't willing to group up with other players then you might want to check out some other single-player RPGs until the sequel to Skyrim comes out.

Perhaps "play how you want" should be properly stated as "play how you want within the pre-defined structure of a theme-park MMORPG"

Group content that isn't played, because there are no groups to be found, is obsolete. You could just remove it from the game entirely, if you don't make it available to players who actually wish to experience it. That's the problem at hand, not some Soloers vs Groupers issue.

Solving this problem will solve the issues soloers face in this game as well, without taking anything from those that wish to group up for endgame content. Most groups ignore the quest content anyways, so even if - and it doesn't has to be that way - it would be re-made into solo content, nothing much was lost here, but a lot gained for many.

Yeah, my sub expires in 2 weeks and I haven't finished Craglorn yet. Don't really have any desire to. There is really nothing left to do in the game, since I finished all the alliances and all dungeons (not including the recycled vet dungeons they keep releasing). Its probably best to take a break then come back next year when more content is out. Not just more solo friendly adventures, but also new game mechanics and systems.

So the real problem then as I understand it is not that group content exists, but that most people prefer to join huge groups and mindlessly grind trash mobs in Craglorn instead of doing something that actually challenged them as a player.

No wonder there are so many bad players at the higher VR ranks.

The problem with Craglorn is there is no content to do unless grouped.
Making every bit of the zone grouped content means you have nothing to do in the zone while trying to find a group. You really do need to be in the zone to find groupes outside of guild events.

I am all for group play I done lots of group content in game, that's how I made friends and joined guilds. But I don't want to spend my last 3 levels sitting on my arse doing f*** all while calling LFG to do quests.

Every MMO has had content you could do solo in last zones while looking for a group. That way you are still making progress to max level when not grouped.

This has nothing to do with getting best items in game everyone realises that the best items come from group content. This is about not being able to make any progress to max level V14 when not grouped.

Its no fun sitting around doing nothing while trying to find a group.

I don't see any posts about there not being enough group content but I do remember people crying about things being too hard for them to do alone.

I haven't cried or moaned for anything to be changed or fixed or made different.

Nothing the game designers have provided us with anyhow; I've only ever called for the players to change - to get their collective heads out of their 5th point of contact, to be patient, to be respectful, to be reasonable, to be decent human beings. To point out and correct lack of spatial awareness when it comes to bandwagon topics.

Oddly enough, I spent most of the day in Craglorn and only grouped for about 10 minutes when someone needed help with a world boss, and then in the evening when my guild was doing quests, which was quite fun and I now finished my first Craglorn quest (not questline, though)

In all fairness, I think no MMORPG I've played did less to "force me to group" than ESO. It's a solo player's MMO, really.

Whine. 80% or more of the game can be solo. So all can do something. There need to be some content for those that like groupping .

To add to my previous post, I've always wanted to be able to have my friends jump in any time and quest with me in an Elder Scrolls game. However, I don't like being limited to ONLY being able to do content in groups. Also, it's too bad all of my friends stopped playing (due to all the game issues, having to pay a subscription, or just getting bored). That's another reason I don't have much interest in completing Craglorn and the other group stuff. Teaming up with strangers isn't as fun.

I really don't understand why people get so pissy about grouping. I think the problem with that stems from everyone being used to Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim etc. They are used to running around alone when they should be expecting to group more. MMO's are fun Because of the ability to group not because you go through the game alone like some hermit. End game content should all be group content. That's how it is in every MMO. If you want the awesome gear you group up in raids and etc to get it. This game does it a bit different by having a zone where you need to group but that really just encourages better guilds and such. The problem is that people want a guild that's already full of people looking to help them and not guilds where they need to build it up and help others. Everyone's selfish and greedy. I should have just opened and closed with that I guess lol. Wah waa.

Nope but I can name a lot that don't force group play to get to max level. Craglorn is a good example of forced leveling to v14 then IC is a good forced group play to get v16. Im totally down with doing trials, Pledges etc with other, but when it comes to questing nah id rather not group with others.

Such garbage. Game is a blast the first time through, maybe the 2nd and 3rd sometimes, but long term this game is screwed. Craglorn single handedly took out at least 30 percent of the pop of the game (this is pure conjecture, but based on all my guilds becoming ghost towns and hearing why most of them quit).
