Location Icons which make no sense

To me, the idea of a location having an icon is to represent what sort of place the location is. To that end, here's a list of places which are, in my opinion, inconsistent between what they are, and what the icon suggests they are.
  • Firebrand Keep (Stormhaven): This is a Fort which currently uses the City icon 20px-ON-mapicon-City.png, but it's not a city, and it would make much more sense if it used the Fort/Keep icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Keep.png.
  • Wayrest and Dreughside (Stormhaven): The issue here is twofold. Firstly, the icon for Dreughside is used interchangeably with the location of Wayrest, and secondly, Dreughside is not a city. Dreughside should have its icon moved slightly away from Wayrest, and should use the Town icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Town.png. Wayrest should become an actual discoverable location [it's the capital city of the Covenant, for Shor's sake, and you can't even discover it], and should use the city icon 20px-ON-mapicon-City.png.
    • As an extension of this, Wayrest does not currently have a POI Objective, presumably partly due it not having its own icon. The two storyline quests associated with Wayrest, namely "Azura's Aid" and "Vaermina's Gambit", should become part of a new Wayrest Objective, which itself should be a required Objective in Cadwell's Almanac (as it is the conclusion to the Stormhaven storyline).
  • Pelin Graveyard (Bangkorai) 20px-ON-mapicon-Crypt.png is more of a Cemetery than a Crypt, so should really be using the Cemetery icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Cemetery.png.
  • Tears of the Dishonored (Alik'r Desert) is labelled as a Camp 20px-ON-mapicon-Camp.png, but is primarily a Ruin, so should use the Ruin icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Ruin.png.
  • Reman's Bluff (Grahtwood) is labelled as a Gate 20px-ON-mapicon-Gate.png, but there are no gates involved. Using the Keep/Tower icon instead 20px-ON-mapicon-Keep.png would better represent the fortified Barkbite Stronghold, as well as the nearby Imperial Tower.
  • Driladan Pass (Greenshade) also uses the Gate icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Gate.png where there is no gate. A more logical icon here would be the Grove 20px-ON-mapicon-Grove.png, to represent the wooded valley.
  • Velyn Harbor (Malabal Tor) is bugged. Before completion, it uses the Fort/Keep icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Keep.png, whereas afterwards, it uses the Town icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Town.png. It should use the Town icon throughout.
  • Tormented Spire (Stonefalls) uses the Cave icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Cave.png, but is no more a Cave than Ash Mountain, which uses the Daedric Ruin icon 20px-ON-mapicon-DaedricRuin.png. For consistency, Tormented Spire should use the Daedric Ruin icon as well.
  • Tal'Deic Fortress (Deshaan) indicates it's a town 20px-ON-mapicon-Town.png, but its structure and name suggest it should really be a Fort 20px-ON-mapicon-Keep.png.
  • Elinhir (Craglorn) is not a Fort 20px-ON-mapicon-Keep.png, it should be a City 20px-ON-mapicon-City.png.
  • The Seeker's Archive (Craglorn) is in ruins, so it should be a Ruin 20px-ON-mapicon-Ruin.png.
  • Shada's Tear (Craglorn) is also not a Fort, but a Ruin 20px-ON-mapicon-Ruin.png.
  • Anka-Ra Burial Sites (Craglorn) would be better off using the Cemetery icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Cemetery.png to be more representative.
  • Skywatch Catacombs (Craglorn) is primarily underground, so should be a Crypt 20px-ON-mapicon-Crypt.png.

That's all the inconsistent ones I can think of for now. I'll add more if I find more!

I would normally call this endeavor quite nit-picky.

However, I admire your dedication to the small details. Well done.

I would also give you a +agree and a +awesome, but it only allows me to choose one.
    :)

Side Note: I like all the icons you added to the post. Quite helpful.

Oh yes, definitely nit-picky, but as an editor of UESP I think that's necessary :) We're documenting all the places, and each of them have a type; there's been debate over these whether to give them the Type that the icon suggests they are, or the Type that they actually seem to be. Listing them brings that inconsistency into the light in the hopes of getting it addressed.

    Here's a couple more I just noticed:
    • The Court of Contempt (Coldharbour) 20px-ON-mapicon-DaedricRuin.png is very similar in layout to Breton ruins, so would be better off using the Ruin icon 20px-ON-mapicon-Ruin.png to reflect this. Without this, Coldharbour is missing a Ruin replica, even though it has most other place types.
    • Not a location, but a service provider. Scout Linimondil (Skywatch Docks, Auridon) offers passage to Grahtwood, but uses the Stablemaster icon ON-icon-Stablemaster.png instead of the Travel Service icon ON-icon-TravelServices.png.
There's likely a few other service providers that are inconsistent (either by type or icon), so I'll add in any others that I remember later on.

Unbelievable! So many months have passed and the Wayrest icon has not been added yet? It's the capital city! It should have not only its own icon but also an objective to be completed just as the other two capital cities.
@ZOS_GinaBruno Are you aware of this? Is this intended since you haven't fixed it yet?
Of course it's not gamebreaking but it's weird and incomprehensible.
Oh and another suggestion: on the Tamriel map the icons for Wayrest Wayshrine and Wayrest Sewers should be spaced apart a little bit more. Whenever I want to teleport to Wayrest I need to zoom the map (get into the Stormhaven zone) to be able to click on the wayshrine icon. Atm those two icons overlap when the map is zoomed out.
