Hello everyone,

I have been reading a lot about these 'troll camps' lately, but what is it and why is it so bad?

Aah then I know enough. Always figured those people just placed them there so they were able to do the pve quests easier.

It's when people jump onto another character in another faction and lay a camp to stop another one being legitimately placed by the correct faction. There is an area around forward camps that stops you from placing another camp near them.

It's despised because it's considered cheating and interfering with other players gaming experience and strategies.

Image I linked is just trolling but not really harmful since the AD are on defense anyways. Now the next one is trolling & harmful, if you look at the two camps near Imperial city, it's not a suitable spawn location yet it is placed in such a way that the reds can't place a camp near the smurfs and bananas closest enemy keeps thus giving an advantage to the smelly AD's and smurfs.

I know that there is trolling in this manner, but I don't think it is as common as some people think. For example, I have been in Gank squads who have placed camps on the shoreline around imperial city for a pretty good reason. They are out of the way spots that won't be found and destroyed in 5 minutes. This allows our gank team to roam the general area freely and not have to defend our camp.

Is that helpfull to the alliance? Maybe sometimes, we tend to hit supply lines pretty hard. We even stop to take resources here and there. But no, it is not 100% designed to help the alliance, we are being selfish and putting a camp where we want one regardless of the effects it has on others because we know this:
If our camp is preventing someone from placing another camp, our camp will get (and has been) used up in about 30 seconds and the camp the larger group wanted will then interfere with OUR plans (again, not everyone in Cyrodiil is there to take keeps)

Long story short, not all "troll camps" are actually placed by enemies to interfere with keep taking.

Before you flame me, I do agree troll camps are a thing, a very bad thing. Having said that, any fix for that problem must take into consideration that not all camps are for keep sieges.

It looks like someone was having fun making a Superman icon with the letter "S" being made by the FCs.
FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Its sad enough that someone came up with this strategy but its heartbreaking that the rest of the players in their alliance are fine with its implementation.. This kind of garbage needs to be prevented and those who are placing the fc's reprimanded..

I agree with why some camps are placed ( done it myself and agree with you) , but this map shows each camp was strategically placed solely to prevent the other alliances from being able to set a camp. This shouldn't be tolerated I just don't see how it can be stopped without possibly punishing a player not guilty of trolling.. I guess the alliances in the area need to police from inside I just don't think they will ..

A possible fix might be adding a radius where forward camps can be placed. Like around every keep that is adjanced to a keep in your control you can place 5 forward camps.

Outside of that you can add smaller 'ressurection stones' for smaller groups (24), these just work per group and can be added much more often then the current forward camps. They also provide fewer resses however. (24 or 48)

Think that is is a solution that would atleast work (for now)

I like those ideas. Allowing multiple camps near keeps would add a tactical element to sieges that few people take advantage of (a keep has 4 sides, but usually gets attacked from one side...) with multiple camps it is more likely that will change. I wonder what downside would prevent them from trying this easy fix?
Another thing that will have an impact on this is the upcoming "Guild Camps". A lot of the gank squads / PVE types will be using those exclusively, hopefully that will help identify the actual trolls.

It's common enough when it matters. You can pretty much count on seeing them once there is a serious push/defense for Emperor.

They really need to give two kinds of FC's. One for Sieges and one for groups that won't interfere with each other.
