Do you prefer questing alone or in a group?

Simple question. It's not about the bugs. Please answer the question assuming that everything works perfectly.

ZOS is putting a lot of emphasis on group questing. I would like to see what the community says.

EDIT: I am not referring to the group dungeons, but only to quests here.

Mostly alone, group when it makes sense to or it's more fun to.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Preferably alone. I read everything and loot every container. I also search every inch of the world. This makes me a slow player so folks wouldn't want to quest with me. I'm also not big on sharing >:)! However, I do group when necessary or help someone when they ask.

I take my time with quests, read everything, search for loot. When I do group it's only for the group content, i.e. dungeons, but I always feel so rushed. I never get to follow along with the story.

One time I found someone who was questing at the same pace as me. Without a word, we just fell into a rythem of alternating doing objectives till we each had our quotas. At this point I thought, well this is stupid. We are a group in all but name, so I formally invited them to group with me and we finished off the Coral Heart quest together. I regret that I didn't think to add this person to my friends list at the time. :(

Both. Together when I'm bored, alone when I'm not.

Together makes sense because it's easier and faster than fighting alone. Plus, I like to talk about the game with someone because it's more interesting that way so I'll group and get on TS or Mumble or whatever else have you.

Alone when I don't feel like waiting or if I feel like others will be waiting for me because I like to take my time sometimes.

    They both have their advantages.

I enjoy what I call "quiet cooperation". :joy: obviously I'll group up for some dungeons, but mostly if there are other people around and we all want the same thing, I like that silent cooperation thing. :relaxed:

Both. When I am doing story based quest lines I play alone. However I also play MMOs to get into group content.

I haven't voted because I honestly enjoy both.....

In the standard questing areas grouping does make things ridiculously easy......

    However........

I have so much fun in Group and Public Dungeons when in a group with Guildmates that I would heartily recommend it to everyone.

We've recently been going through all dungeons to tick off the many achievements, those evenings have been a blast!! :D

Right now, I'm with the "alone" camp. Now, if they improve group-finding and find a way to make it possible for me to take the time I want to soak in the immersion and story without holding up the guys who just want to move on the the next objective in group content, I'd be much more into group questing.

Depends what type of quests we're talking about. Ideally in this game I would like to do 70/30 group/solo quests. Ideally the group quests would have the stories told through visuals/animation/audio with no reading and the solo quests would still have reading and dialogue. Unfortunately it's quite the opposite in ESO with much being solo quests or quests designed like they are solo.

I love grouping, and I jump at any chance of do it I get :)

I love helping my guildies, when opportunities arise.

But the reality is that for me, ~95% of my time was/is solo playing.

The only thing in this game that i like to have other player taking part with me in a group is PvP.

I wouldnt ever group in PvE if zen didnt make this obrigatory pretty much. I dont mind other player there in the world doing stuff with me , like killing the same mobs... , hell other players in the world add to the dynamic of it , but i wouldnt group with them.

I'm all for group challenges, but anything story related should be solo. It's also really difficult to find a group sometimes. I'd rather there be less group content, but make that group content more challenging and include unique teamplay and replay value. The more group content they create, the harder it will be to find players to do specific group content with. It's already really tough to get the lower Craglorn story done... They need to start introducing significantly more solo-able content in future updates.

I PREFER to quest with friends/guildies BUT I harvest and gather as I quest and I have a tendency to actually READ the books I find. This slows me down and often makes me feel like I'm holding the other person up. But if I just zoom along with them -I- end up feeling cheated. I'm bypassing nodes, plants, glyphs, not looking in barrels, etc.... and I have to just click and close out of books. And I hate that. So unless I can find someone of like mind to quest with it's just not enjoyable for me. Thank goodness I can often quest with my husband who approaches it the same way!

I prefer questing alone because I can go at my own rythm, in the order I want, wait to hear/read some funny dialogues, rush through the ones I don't like, be afk, roam for ressources, chase butterflies, treasure hunt, try to climb mountains for shorcuts (and fail/get stuck), sneak all the way through this quest, aoe everything through this one...

And of course, because with the phasing system if you're not on the exact same part of the quest with your teammates... I realised questing with friends and guildies that it took almost twice as long than soloing. Often we just split and wait for each other at the end of the quest/next quest hub.
Group questing is annoying in ESO... that's a shame for a MMO :expressionless:
What? Lead? Me? No, no, no. No leading. Bad things happen when I lead. We get lost, people die, and the next thing you know I’m stranded somewhere without any pants.

Uh I half and half. I like to quest with others point of MMO fun to meet new players ect ect but the other half which doesn't like to quest with others is that fact most of the time i get ... well .... not gonna says names but i'm sure you know what i'm talking about ... for we all have had the one mortal or group of mortals who well didn't know what in oblivion they were doing... best example i can give was I believe my first try at vet fungle grotto... we had a templar healer and all he did was spam healing spring (pre-fix) and we all keeped dieing and he blamed me the dragon knight tank for it. So we tried again and mid battle we were about to lose again so i switched over to my healing staff cause i heal when needed and we needed it and then we won. Me a DK who was speced to tank (with a 2H) was able to tank and heal better than a templar speced to heal.

That right there is a giant down side of group quest .... you get those type of players who need to go back to training camp.

I kind of depends for me, I like to do some stuff on my own from time to time, but I also like to do one or the other group quest if there are people around.

Additionally, I wanted to Point out that ZOS isn't neccessarily putting a lot of effort in group content, sure a lot of the recenty updates have been about Craglorn, but that's mainly because there has not been a dedicated group content Zone before.

But don't worry there are two solo zones in preperation right now, namely Orsinium and the one in EP, which name I forgot, but it contains giants.

I greatly prefer to quest alone. I just can do what I want when I want really. I'm close to a dungeon? I may just run off to do that. I always stop to gather resources. And if a dolmen is nearby and active - I'll just run off to do that sometimes. Not to mention bio breaks, fridge runs, etc.

So it just makes online life easier to just solo.
