Kiosks

Okay so as a GM of a guild I have been bidding on the kiosks every week. My guild has only outbid a kiosk once and that was when the kiosk addition to the game came on the scene. I am investing allot of the guild banks funds and keep increasing the bid weekly......but.....still nothing. Are there plans to change the bidding mechanics? or I did read in another post about not posting the bid within the banks history or something of that nature as there are cheaters? why of course there are cheaters right?! anyhow....how does one go about actually winning a bid. What are you other guilds bidding? must be an awful lot of $$ .....Getting disappointing with the system and the results at this point:(

My first question after reading your text was:"What does he mean?" (because of "kiosk")

Now I understand: You mean the bid-system for the guild merchants/traders.

Well at the beginning it was very funny for our guild to get one and sell a Iot of things to other players.

Since two weeks we don't get anyone. We bid 30.000 Gold, but it seems like this amount of gold is to low. Trader-Guilds are laughing about that, because they Can bid 100.000 Gold...

I've never seen the supposed problems with a global AH. The only one I can think of right now is that trade guilds would become obsolete.

How much are you bidding and where?

Here is my rough estimation for the EU server:
    • You can get the ones in the countryside for 100-500g
    • You can get the ones in non-major cities for 1000-5000g
    • You can get the ones in non-major trading hubs from 70k gold
    • You can get the ones in major trading hubs from 170k gold

Oh my, well if thats what it takes to get one no wonder we aren't......so many of my guild members have dropped out of the game. I've gone from 350 members to approx. 20 members over the past couple of months:( there is no way our guild brings in that kind of money. Thanks for your responses, and happy gaming. 350members cant bring 200g (thats 4 sold white/green drops) to achieve 70k gold - poor lads ... you should start leaving your starter town their is so much to explore ;)

It's time for an auction house. This game doesn't have a large enough playerbase to drive down the prices like they were afraid of when the game released. I'd be surprised if there are 100k players left.

Um, maybe not copy exactly, but if it's good enough, certainly use it as a major influence.

Obviously not exactly  Cities would fulfill the role of space stations and remote buy/sell orders would be made accessible via hirelings, the possible distance determined by their ranks etc. By adjusting the look and feel of it you could make it fit though.

I agree, EVE is great in regards to handling global trade. having a limit on who can see what we are selling is insane to me....

They should do away with these kiosks spread all over the world... There should be a central Market area somewhere that we can travel to. In this market should be all the guild venders. Instead of bidding, there should be a requirement for size (maybe 400 players), and maybe a history of sales that allow you to stay in the market. That way every single trade guild in the game doesn't over crowd the market. If your guild drops below 400, then your vendor is removed from the market. If your players are over pricing items and people do not buy your items (sales history or quota), the you are removed from the market.

All I can say is please don't bid on a guild trader kiosk if your guild has nothing to sell. I hate it when I find traders in major sites with nothing in search results, i.e very few goods to sell. And I'm not in favor of a universal AH. It's bad enough that nirnhoned trait items are being offered at 20k+ prices now. Al least with this system there is a less chance the 'gold rich' can control the market and nirnhoned items don't cost 1,000k.

Guild traders are actually working out pretty well for me. At least 1 trading guild where I am a member has a guild kiosk every week, and they don't pay a ton for it either - the ones in busy trading hubs are expensive, but others are cheap, if your guild does not have much cash go for one of those instead of an expensive one.

One trading guild I am in has got a guild kiosk out in the sticks for 100g for the last 2 weeks, and I have sold so much stuff that (not only did the guild make back the cost of the kiosk on the back of my mats sales alone) I made a donation back to the guild towards getting the trader in the future. Another guild I am in regularly gets a kiosk in a slightly busier place for 4 figures and makes that back during the week.

If you are spending more than you are making from having a guild kiosk then you are doing it wrong - if you can't afford a kiosk in a busy trade hub, then bid on one in a more remote area - paying 3 figures for a kiosk in the sticks is often better than paying 6 figures for one in a busy city, because you will easily make your money back in fees to the guild, and your members will sell items to people passing through questing and be happy.

While the Kiosks in the cities will get more traffic, the kiosks out in the sticks are usually closer to the wayshrines that the ones in the cities are. So, it's no big deal to go around from WS to WS to check a few stores. No more so than running from a WS in a City to the trading area and then checking the 4 to 6 that they have there, then running back to the WS to go to another city.

I actually prefer to hit the ones in the boonies unless I happen to be in a city or town that has a cluster.

Agree, also because the kiosks are replicated in Vet areas, if you get a kiosk in one of the starter islands on a quest route, you naturally get lvl 1-6, VR1-2, and VR 4-6 traffic - it's not only newbies.

Also, if your guild is smaller, you are more likely to sell stuff yourself. I'm in a smaller guild and in a busy trading guild that both have traders. The small one is in a quiet area and the trading guild is in a hub. Obviously, the trading guild has a lot more business, but that doesn't mean I'm personally selling stuff.

Wow those Rawl guilds really put the fear of God into you, huh?

I read your original post and it very clearly said that one of the Rawl guilds you are in paid *250,000G* (not 250 million lol). And you are correct, one of the Rawl Guilds DID Pay 250,000 last week.

So you were just trying to give advice, you didn't even name the guild, you just stated a fact available to all 500 people in that guild well after the sale happened and *2* Rawl guilds booted you?

Maybe they're afraid more people will realize that kiosks in Rawl often go for that price (and even below 200,000) and they'll have some actual competition.

I find that hard to believe. I’ve heard they go for way more. How do you even know? The bids are secret!
