2 Questions about NB Path of Darkness

In order to get the 50% speed buff do you have to stay in the ability's AOE or can you use it to run away?

Is the damage magnitude high enough to use it as an viable AOE attack?

1.You only have the 50% buff on the path. It can be used as an escape healing ward+path+cloak+cloak and of you go.
2. No the dps is very small and so is the hps . It can be used as a good ultimate generator for trial bosses where your group stacks if you have high crit chance due to crit heals. It add some dps (~40 maybe) also if you keep it up.
