addon for soft caps : http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info141-SoftcapInfo.html

haven´t reached hardcaps since v14 as the dimnishing returns prohibited it for me so i cant estimate at wich values they kick in... (beside general informations like 100% crit rate, 50% resi/armor reduction etc ...

IMO it's really telling that we have to use an addon for even this basic functionality. I mean this is definitely something you'd want to know *before* you run into it.

The thing is, you would have to find a site that calculates the numbers based on your build, and that information is only found inside the game, so the addon is actually more practical.

no soft and hardcaps are race and build independent - only your actual values(after evtual dimnishing returns when within the softcap values) depend on those informations.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that the soft and hardcaps don't change at all through levelling? Or that an Orc Templar will have the same soft and hard caps as a dunmer DK at the same level?

I must confess I have only recently installed the addon, as I don't really care too much, but my low level Templar was capping on armor, so I wanted to see where it would make sense to make adjustments.

If your running Heavy, it's real easy to hit the Softcap in Armor, if your a Mage in LA, it's real easy to hit the softcap in Magic Resistance. I have never gotten my MA NB to any of the Softcaps, even with the Racial Passive for Resist fully pointed out.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Softcap for magicka and stamina is ~2400. Don't worry about the hardcap because it's impossible to even get close to them. Softcap for health is like ~2800.

Softcap for spell damage is 129. Softcap for weapon damage is ~200.

Softcap for armor and spell resist is ~2000. You will only hit the hardcaps by stacking certain armor buff abilities (circle of protection + other ability + other ability + ... etc.). Softcap gives 33% damage reduction. Hardcap gives 50% damage reduction.

yes - the hight of a soft- or hardcap is not effected by racials or your build or class choice. but they make it easier to reach them depending on your choices
all races and classes have sth like 2400 stam and magica softcap. wich can be reached easier as an imperial nb in terms of stamina while an aldmer sorcerer will have an easier time reaching the magica soft cap. none the less the actual caps will be the same for both.
the only way to increase the actual caps is by lvling.
