Update 5: Solo dungeons scaling to level worries me

So, I'm all fine with group dungeons scaling to the party leader; it makes it easy to help guildies to finish a dungeon, or to re-do again for a challenge.

However, I'm concerned with the solo dungeon content being leveled. I'm assuming this means things like the main story solo content.

Currently if something is too hard, you can go away and do other things, level up a bit, get a few more skills to use, and then come back and try again. This is a good thing! It doesn't nerf the content, but if it's too hard, you can have another go when you're higher level.

Will this change stop this?

It's more for us that prefer to solo. If I went in a 'grey' dungeon it can sometimes be impossible to complete (depending upon skill build) this is just a way of letting everyone try all the dungeons and not just a few.
Rewards are scaled to level also so its not like i'll be getting VR12 loot at level VR2. ;)

nb, it also means you can go back in at higher levels and have another go at the same dungeon with higher level mobs.

Being First is not the prize, it just mean's everyone can stab you in the back.

I agree, are these for solo dungeons as well? I feel like they're challenging enough as they are now. I don't understand the point of this change.

I guess they didn't want you doing what you were doing, something too hard and level up a bit and then go back and do it a bit easier...you know, being able to play your way and all....but I guess we can't have that.

Since they're doing this, it's time to remove forced solo dungeons/content, allow us to bring a friend to help or allow grouping. Forced solo content should not exist in a Massively Multiplayer Online game. It should be optional.

I will never agree with forced solo content in MMOs, it's the silliest thing I have ever seen in online gaming, that sort of thing belongs in single player games.

If their reasons are for the story then take notes from SWTOR's solo/grouping story dungeons.

I imagine if you do want to solo the dungeon this suddenly makes it impossible again. I like to solo a lot of content, but I hadn't got around to soloing the dungeons yet. I hadn't thought about how that would impact it.

I agree that we shouldn't be forced into playing a way we don't want to. I personally like the solo content.

If I was forced to group with people all the time to complete content, even my guild mates, I wouldn't be playing this game.

If they auto-scaled solo dungeons to take in account a friend that would be fine, but not for it to be scaled for groups only.

I think Icy is hitting on the really frustrating elements of this game that I otherwise love to death.

    1) Mandatory solo content in an MMO? ***? Especially for quests that are designed around membership in a guild of other characters? And involving characters that are the biggest draws for Elder Scrolls Lore fans who came to this game in droves?

    2) Solo content aside, how the heck are we supposed to be able to complete this content if, heaven forbid, we aren't hardcore loot farmers and crafters, if it constantly scales up? If this was DDO, then it would all be a ploy to get us to spend real cash on buffs and in-game revives, but it's not. It's there to give a challenge to what is already the most frustrating challenge in the game (long solo quests in a game where I want to have fun with my friends).

    3) Combine this with group dungeon scaling and any folks who don't religiously optimize are pushed away from content they are paying good money for. If I want to tiptoe through the tulips on a level 10 Mages Guild quest with my level 40 DK, I'm not hurting anyone. Don't make me feel like I want to, ZOS.

AGREED! There should be no forced solo content in an MMO! I hate the solo quests, they're often too hard for me at level and I also went back a couple levels later to finish them. Now I can't, so there will be a lot of quests I will now not be able to finish. NO MORE FORCED SOLO QUESTS!
