What happens to armor when the champion system comes?

So right now armor looks different as you go through the veteran ranks. I thought of this as I was picking a new style for my VR2 set tonight. Will we all be stuck with the same choices for crafted armor once we hit 50? If not how will they fit this in? I realize they are adding more racial styles.. But come on. VR armor looks better than any pick of level 50.

I think that if they make gear progression than they should keep VR as gear level. Or they could make it where it still looks different depending on how many stones you use even if it does stay 50. But to me Vr10-14 doesn't look any different except maybe colors so there really isn't too much between them as is. But we will have to wait and see.

Yeah but colors you already like is a bonus as you can sell the gear after. Dyed gear is bound. As well, I wonder what will happen to the materials? Just poof useless? Lol

Kreshweed and Ironthread for example. If VR gear no longer existed... There would be no need for the materials to exist either?

Maybe not, but they could still use those as style types without the need for vet rank armor. But again they don't look any different from each other as far as style goes. The only real change is the base color.

Really the only difference is the base color and I guess the pauldrons a little bit.
But maybe both could be a level 50 crafting component and it would change the style up a little. most likely than not they are just gonna condense it though.

I believe there will still be power scaling in armor. You should still be able to create something stronger than baseline 50 armor by hitting the + and adding more of a material. The requirement to wear is based on how many total champion points the player has spent (or acquired?). Ideally, those of us who are VR14 with VR14 gear will be awarded just enough champion points to enable their characters to wear the same gear.

This is my understanding based on the bits and pieces I've read/listened to from the guild summit, the champ info thread, and some interview I clicked on youtube.
