Do you think TESO should add flying mounts?

For pity's sake, no. And again no. Just accept the game as it is.

I disagree. Not on the subject of flying mounts, but on the idea of, "accept the game as it is."

Why shouldn't we present, and discuss, ideas to help the game progress and move beyond what it is? Granted this has been brought up before, but please be mindful of what you say and how you say it. It'd be more of a pity to accept the game as it is.

    Context.

    (...)

I almost made precisely this same point (Great Minds) in a response I drafted last night, but I decided to ditch it in favor of going to bed (because I was feeling kinda grumpy and figured it'd only land me in hot water, heh.)

    Yes, context is everything.

    :)

I could fly in Morrowind. Why not here?

Flying would only serve to scale the world down. Plus it doesn't reflect the lore.

    Only if flying = speed.

A slow to medium levitate would not.

    Because this isn't Morrowind?

I can ride a dragon in Skyrim but I don't expect to be able to ride a dragon in ESO, for the same reason: this isn't Skyrim.

    Some other examples:

Why can't I own/build multiple homesteads in ESO?

Why can't I swim underwater in ESO?

Why can't I adopt orphans in ESO?

The answer's the same: although this game is based on [insert your TES favorite here], it's not the same game.

Flying mounts has never been a part of TES Lore, infact methods of fast travel have always been avoided, or made less useful (until the Oblivion Debacle...) in older games. This was done partly for hardware limitations, but added so much more depth to the feel of the game. Hence the PLETHORA of mods that disabled fast travel in Oblivion and Skyrim. And yes, there were mods that supported the whole Dragon mount thing, but those seemed and felt more tongue in cheek than Lore Friendly to me.

Now, as for mounts in ESO, since it is technically a non-canon MMO based on the lore of TES, let me point out why this is a terrible idea from a design perspective...

It segregates the player from the world and cements them in a "Point A to Point B" mentality, thus negating the effort put into world design and basically making everything a series of Pick up quest, fly to location, Do X action, Fly back to quest giver, and then feel lost because task that should take 20 minutes takes 4.

    Flying mounts RUINED WoW.

Flying was a huge let down in Aion.

Flying may look cool, it may feel epic, and it may even net you the concept of an amazing character design with hopes of being a bad assed Dragon Knight on the back of your Dragon mount leading the charge into battle. But ultimately think about one thing...IT WILL BE A LET DOWN.

I'm not sure what creatures ESO could use that wouldn't break the lore.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.
    That's right... Horse.

While it would be cool, I really can't imagine any creature tamable that could be used to fly. Dragons are near extinct till skyrim and seeing thousands of them would seem very immersive breaking.

What I would like to see is mounted combat. I think it would be fun and add a new dynamic, if they can balance it properly where on foot players would be more agile and able to dodge but mount combat would have more speed and better damage.

I would say the real and biggest issue is that if they allow flying mounts a reason would have to be made to why people cant use them in cyro , otherwise keep walls are kind of pointless once you can just fly over them.

Not if they're easily targetable in flight :). Allow Flying, make it slow with sluggish Dodge response :), ignore the whining about how slow flying is and let them be killed coming over the walls.

Oh look Marge, THIS thread again.
I am not spending a single penny on the game until changes are made to the game that I want to see.
    1) Remove having to be in a guild to sell items to other players at a kiosk.
    2) Cosmetic modding for armor and clothing.
    3) Difficulty slider.
    4) Fully customizable player housing that isn't tied to anything in the game other than having the correct resources and enough gold to build. Don't tie it to PvP, guild membership, or anything at all. Oh, make it instanced so as not to take up world map space, too. Zeni screwed this one up already.
Any /one/ of these things implemented would get me spending again, maybe even subbing.

The "No" answer isn't 100% accurate for me. I do want to fly, I just don't think the game world is currently built for it.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like what WoW did: a special area built for flying. Maybe in one of the expansions we could enter some other dimension or daedric realm and acquire flying mounts?

Let us just break all the lore and make all the players leave. Sounds brilliant.

Not one part of ESO needs flying mounts. I may be on leave from ESO for the lack of solo play but Id leave forever if this happened.

Stop beating the dead horse and move on to another bad idea.
This is were my signature would be if I was allowed one.

There is no way to make this compatible lore wise so no.

EDIT: Also it will probably ruin world pvp in whatever form in comes in when the justice system hits.
