different patch day?

I believe in North America, most holidays fall on Mondays.
So why patch on Monday of all the days of the week?
I have a day off, I'm looking forward to a great day of gaming.... only to find the server offline for maintenance :(
Surely I'm not the only one!!
Here in Canada, its thanksgiving today.... I had such plans!... I guess I'll go rake leaves or something instead.
Some idea of "how long" would be nice too, so I don't have to check back every 15 minutes...

    no matter what day the patch comes out on someone will have a problem with it be glad there is a patch.

    there's no perfect day, agreed. However "holidays" rarely fall Tues through Friday. In fact, it shouldn't be that hard to make a patch schedule simply avoids north american holidays completely, regardless of the day of the week it falls on. Customers pay the bills... why tick them off when it could be so easily avoided?

    It probably wont be long since they only write maintenance and not update. Those rarely last more than 2 hours.

    I personally agree that Monday's aren't the best days for the same reason as above. However, I understand that they have to happen at some point, and if they feel like Monday is the best time for most then so be it.

    Well they were doing it more towards the middle of the day and moved it earlier which I was asking for and they seemed to listen. A little earlier would be nice but I am somewhat content with it now. :smile:

    I also agree with the OP. Now that server maintenance is only one day per week, I do feel that Tuesday would be much more appropriate, in that it would avoid many Holidays which fall on Mondays...Is it a huge deal? ..No....Is it much more convenient for paying customers...Probably...

    It's not just holidays, but a lot of people take Mondays off to have a 3 day weekend.

    Monday's are actually a very good day for doing releases. It gives the company 4 additional work days to address and try to fix any issues that happen as a result of the release.

    As for today being a specific holiday, a lot of companies do not offer C-day as a company holiday. So for many, it is just another Monday in a 5 day work week.

    Happy thanksgiving day to you. Have a good meal with your family, hang out with friends and once you get back home the server will be up again. :)
