Quick Question? Can someone be banned from the game for listing wrong/correct prices in Zone chat?

So quick question to the Dev's or any body really, and if I get banned for this then this is a complete joke of a reason. So I go into Auridon brand new Alt, I see people asking about the Prices for the Motif Books obviously a new player shocked for how much people sell them buy. So I list the prices that I have normally see books go for.

Blue Motifs for 300-400g.
Very Rare Motifs anywhere from 10-50k depending on what it is.
and then Legendary from 50k+.

All of the sudden I get a swarm of messages from people screaming and complaining at me that no those are the wrong prices, you're trying to swindle people out of money, and among another key few phrases that if I were to repeat would get me banned on the forums.

Then they all start threatening me saying they're going to report me and get me banned because apparently ZoS does that to people that try to swindle others out of money.

As far as I was aware I was listing the prices I had seen during the times I play at for Motifs and the prices of them so if that's a bannable offense for in game then that is indeed sad. However I highly doubt that is the case.

Anyone else's thoughts on the subject?

Most ppl try to sell purple motifs for 40k+ now and imperial for 70k, they're prolly butthurt that you undercut them. Just tell them to [snip] off and report them for harassment if you want.

Well said player/players did threaten me multiple times and claimed they and their friends would report me to try to get me banned so I will probably take your advice on the report them part.

But I have never seen some people get that upset over something like that before.

Can't be banned for what you did. If you were actually trying to scam someone, then maybe you'd have an issue, but based on what you've said here, you're fine.

That's what I thought as well because I have never heard of something like that as a reason to ban someone in any game before. Which is what I told them, but all they did was claim I was lying, and a few other choice words.

Oh well we'll see in a few days, or so I guess, but I doubt anything will happen.

Just cause they don't like your prices doesn't mean you can be banned. I'd report them for the choice words they said to you. But I usually sell my purple motifs for 40-65k depending on the motif.

The only thing I could see ZOS banning anyone for would be taking someone's gold and not giving them the item. But if you use COD or trade in person, that really shouldn't be an issue for anyone.

Yeah I wasn't even selling anything all I did was list the prices that I had normally seen in some of the Veteran Zones, that's it. As for actually ripping people off I don't do that ever. I've sent people money that forgot to do CoD to me before multiple times.

That said if prices have gone up since the last time I tried to sell something then my bad, but you don't have to blow up on someone over it.

There are players who will attempt to "correct" your prices in zone chat, and others who disagree with the price being either too high or too low in their opinion. Anyone can sell anything in this game for any price they want. Isn't capitalism great?

If someone is crying about you selling an Imperial motif for 50k when they normally see it sell for 70k, then that player should buy it from you at 50k and turn around and sell it for 70k and make a profit.

Usually, the ones who are crying about prices in zone chat are either new players who aren't familiar with the cost of items in this game, or a player you are undercutting on price.

There is no set or "fair" price for anything in this game. The selling price is the price that someone is willing to pay for that particular item.

Similar thing happened to me in Craglorn when I offered to sell a nirncrux for a specific price, and had no less than 5 different people screaming at me in tells that I was never to give a price, that this destroyed their means of negotiation, etc. I posted that in open chat and told people I was still selling for X price, and that these people were texting me, so obviously they were cheating everyone that they dealt with. Screw the people who are trying to fix prices. There is NO rule against posting such information, and you cannot be banned for naming prices.

Pfff. You could have said a million if you wanted to. It's on the individual to decide what they think something is worth whether buying or selling. All they have to do is go price check in guild stores or kiosks to give them some idea.

You can price an item at any darn price you want. It can be overpriced or underpriced by everyone else's standards. But who cares? Its not like there was a set price before anyway.

The only possible way I can see you getting banned is if you were vehemently rude or something during price negotiations or something....

Like I said all I did was state the prices that's all, it was the other people that flipped out over it.

At any rate, I'm not too worried about it, especially after everything that people have posted here. Though a Dev post would probably put my mind as ease.

Zone chat in Audrion is funny, I spend a good 45mins a day crating, deconstructing and so on, and the zone chat is always full of people wanting to sell motifs, and yes they do seem to go bat crap crazy over pricing there.

I wouldn't worry to much about it.

Here's another reason I don't do zone chat (buying/selling spam - ESO needs far more than mere zone chat, and something much better than Guild Traders for players who want to interactively buy and sell - but that's another discussion; I digress).

@deathmasterl_ESO Charge whatever you want for what you're trying to sell. Don't be intimidated by anyone threatening to /report you for doing so. They're full of Horse Feathers (as my dearly departed ma used to say).

I wasn't selling anything lol, just listing prices for things because someone new asked if they always that expensive in zone since I wasn't aware that the price increased almost overnight people flipped out over what I had listed as the normal prices.

So far this has been my only negative experience while in game with another person since release. Either way like I said I'm not too worried. Every game has the same type of... well you get my point since I can't really say it lol.

I'm more amused over the fact they got that upset over someone listing a price in zone chat lol.

yeah, this doesn't seem like something you'll be banned for.

on a side note, is there a 'usual' price for the motifs? I have actually accumulated quite a few (2 Orc, 2 Khajiit, 1 High Elf, 1 Nord, 1 Red Guard and 1 Argonian). I've never attempted to sell anything to other players and don't keep an eye on how much is asked for these things. :confounded:

For the Blue Motifs like you have they usually go for 300-400g depending on time of day, where you're selling it, etc. 300 would normally be the average price.

Even if you had overstated the prices, which you have not, it's a free market and there is no "official" price. I'm not fond of people who massively inflate prices but if a customer is willing to pay it, particularly in the case of rare motifs and they absolutely must have it now, then I don't take issue with the seller charging a premium rate. The people were probably trying to sell things a high prices and didn't like the information you provided. If that happens again and they attack/threaten you via the chat window take a screen shot and keep it somewhere as evidence just in case they try any dodgy reporting.

If they were unfairly threating you then that is intimidation and you would be within your rights to follow it up. Threatening to get their friends to gang up on you and report you is bullying behaviour and should not be tolerated.

I still see some blue motifs for 1k on trade houses so it comes down to how much people are willing to pay to have things right away.

    @deathmasterl_ESO‌ Two things:
    1. Items are worth what people will pay for them, whether 100k or free.
    2. There has to be a reportable offense. For example, some idiot threatening to have them and their friends false report you for something that is not against the ToS.
Report the fool threatening you. Make sure to include a screenshot.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.

I'm always sad to see how greed tends to bring out the worst in people, even in virtual economies. The people you encountered are online bullies, plain and simple, and they have absolutely no leg to stand on in this matter. Hopefully, they will not have an impact on the game population at large, but to discourage them from keeping this up, I strongly suggest you report them.

So far, I have only encountered a few complete jerks in ESO, and they are no longer playing. Fortunately, this game seems to attract mostly nice people.
