was wondering if you guys could add thicker rain, maybe some fog! I want to be in a downpour!!! maybe have the water build up more on the ground?

I really enjoy the rain that's there now but it could be much better!!

for the desert maps maybe add some crazy sand storms. I dunno jus some ideas to add to the greatness of ESO :D

I know you guys at Zeni have the power to make this happen!
I double dog dare you to prove me wrong :D

    I hope so.

Fog would be cool. A downpour that effects vision would also be neat, but my arrows would still find their target in the worst wind. :)

Nice idea OP. I like the heavy fog in particular. Imagine if that was in Cyrodiil how it would change the dynamic!

I dream about the day that an MMO developer will have the courage to add game hindering effects to some regions, like... debuffs or other type of 'punishments' for really bad and inhospitable areas like Alik'r when the sun is high or the freezing, deadly cold of Skyrim. Maybe diseases in Black Marsh? :open_mouth:

I was just thinking this as well. I was looking at some lightning and thought it would be cool if it turned into a big storm.

I'd like the environment in general to be more interactive as far as combat goes. Imagine that running into water would put out fire effects but would increase cold or lightning damage. Storms could randomly strike players. Lots of possibilities but I doubt they could do it with an MMO.

I agree with everyone above me! this could really boost ESO I think. interactive combat weather would be beautiful!. Hopefully someone from Zeni sees this, I would imagine it wouldn't be too hard to implement this.

I awesomely agree with every post here. I remember adding several weather and darkness mods to Skyrim and it really changed the pucker factor of the game.

Weather and a truly dark night would really change the game dynamics across the entire spectrum. Dungeons would be more creepy and more intense if you had to carry a torch or use a light spell.

Imagine a PVP battle in a moonless night and in a fog on top of that? That would be awesome. Would keep everyone on edge.

It doesnt have to be just debuffs.

Heavy rain/fog. Any fire/heat spells and abilities dampened some. Any cold/ice abilities on the other hand.......

Out in the desert would be the opposite.

During natural thunder storms (natural only) lightning spells enhance.

Be nifty to add some zone buffs/debuffs based on local conditions.

I bet fire atronachs hiss and steam and shrink in the fog/rain, ice ones get bigger and tougher and/or regenerate.

Lots of ways to work this!

I expect weather would have to be run at the local level like it is now.

I suppose zones get get tagged for storm, type 1 etc.

I would love it. I just wonder about the people whos systems would choke on all the shading and transparency. Lets hope dx12/mantle/open-gl has a fix for that!

That'd be lovely. I still sometimes think back fondly on the rainstorms in that one area in WoW, what was it called... had all sorts of spiders running around and a creepy old manor. Howling wind, and rain coming down in sheets. Pretty nice.

Of course it'd be an option to turn on or off for people's comps that can't handle it.

Of course there's one huge issue with weather having effects on players. Weather is calculated locally, not on the server. Meaning two players standing next to each other can be experiencing completely different weather. It's why you'll sometimes have players asking if anyone can see the moons, and you'll look up to a clear sky. It's not that they're confused or are actually asking about someone dropping their pants: on their screen they're standing in the middle of a thunderstorm, or under a cloudy sky.

Weather really needs to be calculated on the server side and applied to everyone equally before we even think about having weather that actually affects gameplay.

Weather really needs to be calculated on the server side and applied to everyone equally before we even think about having weather that actually affects gameplay.

That is an easy fix buy having zones give a general weather status, say rain 1 or fog 23 or ash storm 6 + fog 2.

The weather would still be locally generated and while particulars of when/where for lightning strikes might be wildly different for people in a group the tone and shade coloring the weather would be the same.

Easy fix. Of course what is conceptually easy doesnt always mean programming easy.

If the game made weather that pervasive or invasive to other systems it would have to be non-optional to prevent the minority from abusing it. Having very low end effects for weather available and/or have the buffs/debuffs happen regardless of what is being rendered on the client would fix that.

i love watching severe weather storms, in morrowind some of the rain storms and blight storms did get pretty severe. Loud thunder cracking and winds with ash sometimes so strong was almost imposible to see anything.
if was severe weather storms in eso i would love it.

Supporting more intense and longer lasting weather. It adds atmosphere. Would honestly also loved for the day/night cycle being closer linked to the real life day night cycle.

Honestly, I wish I had the option to turn off the rain like in the single player games. I cannot stand how much it rains in this game. At first I thought the effects were cool. But, after noticing that it rains almost every time I play, I'm getting sick of it. It's especially bad in the AD zones. To me, it just feels drab.

    Um, No.

There is a quest were you die from cold damage, that's far more weather effect than I was happy about.
