More character slots?

Anyone know if there's ever going to be a chance to buy or earn extra character slots?

Why would you want more character slots? There are only 4 "classes" and three main stories to play through, can't see anyone wanting to play through all types in all realms.

I have four veteran rank characters, one of each class, three of which are vr14. I then have two alts for other alliances, one for each. My crafter, and now I want to try out different races and weapon combinations. I really enjoy levelling and having lots of characters. That's why I need more than 8.

Crafters, Mules, Just for Funs, Different Builds, More Hirelings.

The last is probably why we won't get any more slots....

I think it would be a good revenue stream. Simply make it a cash shop item. No real effect on players happy with 8 characters, and allows those that want more to get more

Yes, allow people to buy more character slots if they wish. Maybe even make a character an anniversary gift from time to time.

Wow, you are all crazy people, I thought I had problems logging on whenever I had free time but I a lightweight.

I concede the point but doubt they will allow more slots, especially with hirelings.

I think I have an RSI from gaming.

This goes for me as well.
I'm admittedly an altoholic.
Being limited to 8 is painful, lol
It harshes my mellow.

I'd gladly pay good money for 4 more slots.
Any more than that is just gravy, but would be welcomed!

Is 8 seriously not enough? You know what is going to happen? They are going to nerf the hirelings because people are just going to make mules that do nothing but collect the hireling supplies. Nobody needs more than 8 and I can't think of a single logical reason why they would other than to find some way to exploit the system.

I have one character who is VR2 which I've put days into since launch. I play like 4-5 days a week for decent lengths of time each session.

What are you guys doing to have multiple VR14 characters already and still wanting more character slots?

My dumb suggestion for a solution for the Hireling thing: make them cost gold to maintain? They're all supposedly employed by our chars, right?

So, if you have 8 hirelings, and each cost... hmm, say 30g a day each? Adjust the amount as needed to keep it fair, and to keep them feed and happy?

Then you'd have to really work to keep them working for you... probably serious crafters have the money to keep them indefinitely on, and more casual players would have to content themselves to have a few hirelings and no more than that...

I use one Hireling for each craft, one for each of my chars that are crafters... so, I wouldn't mind this extra gold sink too much.

I know, there's probably something very wrong with this idea, but in concept it sounds that a good trade off.

EDIT: Needless to say that I would *love* to have more slots for extra chars, not just for the alt-mule thing and inventory woes (which I can manage right now), but for the extra possibilities of creating an RP specific char for each faction, combination of class/race to explore builds, having a specific character for when you play with a friend/family, etc.

I can only speak for myself.
For me, it has nothing to do with being VR14. Or having more of them.
Or, as others have stated, hirelings, inventory mules, etc...
I couldn't care less about those things.

For me, it's just down to plain ol' creativity.
Character Concepts!

I know many people don't understand how someone would WANT to play 8+ characters.
For altoholics like myself, I don't understand how anyone plays just one.
Or even focuses on just one.

I wouldn't want them to start charging gold for hireling upkeep or change anything like that. Maybe the additional slots couldn't have any hirelings?
Or crafting skills at all? I dunno.

If it were optional AND didn't affect anyone else's gameplay... I guess I just don't see the problem.

*EDIT*
Forgot to mention, that at the moment, 4 of my characters are on hold to play with a friend who rarely gets a chance to play.

Yes, please!

I think 10 (total) would be optimal, so I could play all the races on the same server w/o having to delete any of my existing characters to do it.

(I'm currently missing representatives of the Redguard and Khajiit races in my lineup.)

This is my main reason as well for wanting the slots. Admittedly I made two Dunmer for concept reasons, but that still leaves the Khajit, Bosmer and Redgard left out which I would really like to make. My main character is my main, but I admit to liking to have alts to mess around with. I can foresee them allowing this in the future.

I'm much like you. I have one VR14 and my second closest to that is only level 30. I don't think I'll ever need more than 8, but if someone else wants to pay extra and ZOS could implement something to prevent them from abusing them just to get hirelings, I don't see why not.

Yeah for sure. I think the idea of ZoS allowing extra character slots to be purchased in the cash shop is a good idea. Those who want more than 8 can pay for it if they choose. More $ for ZoS and doesn't create any imbalance.

Yes, but that limits trading with half your characters & having to craft on twice as many characters too...
Also, do you really think that they will keep 4 or 6 servers running long term ( PC NA & EU, PS4, XB1 [possibly NA/EU]), 'cos I don't!

Agreed. I would pay a reasonable amount of money for more character slots.

Would abusing hirelings really be an issue? If TESO sold character slots for, say, $3.99 each, then for the cost of 8 slots I could have as many as I could have if I just bought another edition of the game (currently selling for $29.99 in some places). And that wouldn't be abusing the hireling system.
