Yeah, I rather wander around. But again, that's from a PvE mindset. And khajiit are pretty fast when running around!

Outside PvP, I don't see a huge need for a horse.
And even now, whenever I hop on my horse and take a few steps, I invariably find a resource I want to harvest, and it feels like running is faster than mounting and unmounting all the time.
I would rephrase that to "outside of Cyrodiil", as it's the size of the map that is the issue.
Gold sinks are necessary for MMOs to keep inflation down. Inflation becomes a problem when newcommers to the game start fresh and everything in the Guild Traders is marked up 50-100% from several months ago.
The sinks in this game (repair, respec, horse, bags) are necessary for the economy to thrive in the long run. Every MMO should have them.
