I have never liked long drawn out Boss battles. Metroid anyone? Going through the game taking on mobs and trash mobs, figuring out the puzzles and who to talk to and where are the parts I really like. Getting to a Boss that is 100 times harder than anything else along the way is just tiresome.

Sure a Boss fight should be challenging, but to me, it's better to have the challenge to get to the boss. Most TES games are just that way.

Now, the Molag Bal was just a tedious long drawn out fight and I am glad that I probably wont' have to do this for quite a long time, as I have taken 3 characters past him now. All my other characters are Mules, mostly. However as a Boss fights go, it was not that bad a fight, as it just took time. Not some specific sequence of events that had to be triggered at just the right time. It meant leveraging your character's strengths and weaknesses to prevail in a long drawn out fight.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I don't really remember the fight. I just remember running up to the fight, magically killing everything, and then killing Molag Bal. I don't remember it being hard, I actually thought it was too easy because I didn't have to try, and I didn't understand why I was suddenly so invincible. I didn't feel challenged, the fighters guild harvester pre-nerf was harder.
And I'm a medium armor, bow/dw nightblade, so it's not like I have an op build.

I think the perceptions of this fight probably have a lot to do with what class you were when you did it. For me, Desrto Staff Mage Vampire, I was just like, "What? I have to RUN? THAT is my strategy????" I mean seriously, I am this fabulous mage who has even become a vampire as well as a famed hero throughout the lands and not only do my boon companions, the magnificent Five totally bugger off and abandon me at the last possible second to meet my final fate ALONE (yeah some extremely colorful expressions regarding their character, honor, morals and general lack of hygiene, all of which ZoS would quickly censor, come to mind over THAT one!) but the fact that I have mastered some amazingly powerful magicka means NOTHING. Nope, what "beats" the freaking Prince of Schemes is my ability to... dodge. And run away. THAT being the case... this fight lasted WAY TOO LONG. I was at first incredibly frustrated and thinking there just had to be something I was missing. Nope...the answer really was just that lame.

    Cinematics and build-up: great.
Actual fight difficulty: not so great.

That might be just me though. I've seen a lot of posts where people are complaining about the difficulty so I guess it's different per person.

I remember thinking "oh ***, I'm so screwed" when the titans spawned. Then they dropped like flies. I understand I'm imbued with Meridia's power, but... really?

I don't like the fact that I could practically light attack the Prince of Domination to death, but the build-up was good, so I wasn't disappointed with the quest as a whole.

It was okay but relatively easy when all was said an done. There were some serious balance issues in the Ebonheart Pact storyline and, for me, the Lyris Doppelganger NPC (who wasn't even the boss of the level) was way harder than Molag Bal.

Um...can you even take damage in this fight? I don't remember a large amount of dodging, I don't remember it being overly long, and frankly I played the whole fight as if I was invincible because I never actually saw my health bar blip.

To be honest, until seeing this thread, I thought it was an interactive cut scene. I actually thought I WAS invincible during it and couldn't be killed, and that winning it was a foregone conclusion. I don't recall any point during the fight giving me an indication otherwise.

Maybe when I go through with a more fragile alt I'll see something I missed, I guess.

The fight with Molag Bal, himself, was incredibly boring and a huge letdown. I was hoping to fight some huge manifestation that would actually require me to use my brain, not just some vaguely human-shaped-and-height form with incredibly easy to predict tells and the usual, "pissy boss mode," where he spams mobs at you for a bit.

The run leading up to him was an incredibly fun change of pace, though. Zapping everything instantly didn't get old at all and I very much enjoyed that they really did make you feel like you were imbued with the power of Akatosh (or whoever it was that you got the powers from) at that point.

However, the whole storyline is still meh, making the battle just okay. Not great. I still don't get why I have to be upset that The Prophet was actually Varen. I didn't get a choice to not care, my character's dialogue was chosen for him and the reveal wasn't even upsetting or monumental. It was just, "oh yeah I'm actually this guy." Kind of how the whole main plot was, really. Just, "oh yeah and then this happened."

Yeah I tanked him the entire fight with medium armor. Blocking did quite the trick too.

Still, I thought it was good fast paced fight for a melee fighter. Lots of dodging and moving around. But I was kind of expecting more after he got down to 50%, like move faster or hit harder. The titans show up, but yeah, they go down like butter. I got the sense of accomplishment, but wanted to last a little longer.

Also, I think I was 50/VR 1 when I did it, so they may have some impact, but my gear was all from high 30s/low 40s (except 2H sword).

I really really enjoyed the epicness of it all. No game has ever made me feel like more of a bad-a** than this one in the final scene.

Blowing through walls, shrugging off Daedric titans like they were a joke, I really felt like I'd been imbued with the power of the divines.

My only gripe with the fight was that it was significantly easier than I expected. There was no real challenge to defeating Molag Bal, which feels kinda wrong.

That said, I think the feeling of power may have been lost if he'd been more challenging. So, this time, I'm willing to forgive the easy final boss encounter. Usually it would turn me off.

This fight is incredibly easy if you understand the game mechanics...

For some reason though there are some very very slow people who have a hard time with this fight and refuse to listen to you when you give them advice on how to beat it easily.

The amulet of kings amplify s all healing by like 1000% or something ridiculous.

On my templar healer with a healing staff I literally just stood my ground against molag ball....I never blocked, ran, or dodge rolled. I spammed puncturing sweep (that has a healing element to it) and would sometimes use heavy attack to regain magika. I don't even think my health bar dipped below 70%...and when it did it was back to 100% within seconds thanks to the heal on puncturing sweep.

I won the fight at 100% health without even moving and letting Molag beat on me,

On my NB the fight took a little longer since I was full stamina based but I used one ability in the NB siphoning line that did a small amount of damage and regained health.

Anyone who has a difficult time with this fight is either
    A) A vampire and gets one-shotted
B ) A sorcerer who does not have 1 poiint invested in healing staff
    C) A NB who does not have 1 point invested in the siphon heal
    D) Refused to listen and spec the 1 point into healing staff or a healing ability and deserves to struggle terribly.

With even one low level healing ability it is easy mode to defeat him because the low level heal becomes elite thanks to the amulet of kings.

Trust me people....1 point is no big deal....spend it on a healing ability and this fight becomes a cake walk.

Heh, I really enjoy sneaking past the first Titan you come to, the one before the entrance to the room that has an old friend being tortured. In my first character who died a few times because I did not research how to do this fight, I killed that thing about 6 times. It got to be, really, again with this? One time I tried to sneak past him and was successful, so now all my characters just sneak past.

Struggled through it with my DK not to long after launch and died about 5 times trying to get through it. Dodged and ran like a little girl. Was basically just frustrating even though I finally beat him. Had a much easier time with my alt (sorcerer) the second time around but did not enjoy the experience. Personally I got nothing out of the fight but I'm not sure what I would suggest either.

When I first did tried it I found it tough, took me several gems to get through it but both the scenes before and the fight felt... big.

I was pleased when I beat it, the fight taught me lessons about how the game needed to be played and caused me to switch to 3rd person mode which has proved key.

It was a good introduction to the original VR content.

Definitely a fitting conclusion to the main quest.
