REQ: Custom Chat Channels!

Hey there @ZOS_GinaBruno !

This is a "multilateral" request (some part UI, some part game-mechanics etc) so I'm addressing you instead as you are community Queen

I'm one of all who (co-)lead a guild and have decided to shed some light upon ESO lack of communication tools, not intra-guild but inter-guild wise.

This is the situation of the game atm:
If you would like to create a coalition/collaboration/alliance/pact etc with another guild. The only options are:

Merge.
Create an additional guild where all guild members from each guilds can join to access a mutual chat channel.
Appoint 'match-makers' in each guild, acting as chat-chains.
GM, Officers, or members apply for membership in the coalition guild and act as a vis-a-vis channel.

This is a rather massive problem for some guilds atm. Why not add the option to create custom chat channels, open for anyone through invite or a slash-command?

By doing so, the issue of already having 5/5 guilds, the peer-pressure for these 'match-makers' and the politics surrounding a merge could easily be avoided.

I mean, plenty has got TS/Vent etc. But it would be so much more convenient and accessible if there was an option in-game that provided a chance of creating a joint-chat channel bor both (or more) guilds.

I would hate to see ESO leaving, and I love to see it grow.

Not only the fact that there's a size limit, but even if there was not groups are only temporary so it wouldn't be worth creating a 100 person chat each time you logon/off

You could use something offsite though, e.g. skype chat

Or add game into steam and use it for chatting.

@AshySamurai : But then you have the alt-tab'ing / dual monitors / windowed mode....

@Inversus : Groups does actually remain even if you log off. I've logged in several times being appointed Party Leader in a group I was a member of the night before.

There are plenty of ways to communicate using other software and sites. But there is a lack of in game communication tools for this purpose (imho).
Custom chat channels could be one option. I can't really see any risks with implementing that into the game. WTB/WTS already takes place in zone chat and the Trading Guilds comes equipped with Guild Stores which is, so far, the closest we have for a proper trading channel (read AH). And part from trading, I can't really see any risk of 'misuse'.

@mikaelvinrothb16_ESO‌ nope. Steam have in-game chat. You can pop it up without alt-tab. (at least steam has this feature the last time I used it)

Thanks @AshySamurai ! I'll check it out. It would however still be interesting to see a text-chat system implemented in ESO for this purpose.

I mean, TS or similar could be used but not everyone want to voice-chat, nor all the time.
