Coming From SWTOR to Eso Semi Newb to Mmos

Hey all, I am installing the mmo now, I have a few questions, but first, the reason I left TOR was it seemed to lack in the looting & grinding areas. Also the player count at off peak time was only 35 and 146 online on my server(and that was the busy server) so it was feeling more like a single player game for me

I am a massive major huge loot ***. I never get tired of looking for the next great looted item. I also enjoy grinding mobs. I have only played TOR to be honest. I have tried many other mmos, but I cant call a 2 hour attempt to play as a listed mmo.

So, how will this stack up to my desires? Storyline I don't really mind if it is good or bad, questing I am not 100% crazy about but know it will be needed.

What I am wanting from ESO

Loot. Loot. Loot.
Grind Mobs. Grind Mobs. Grind More Mobs.
Lots of players doing whatever it is they do. Knowing I could join up or do my own thing is awesome.

Did I mention I want to loot & grind?

Thanks

Lol. Levels 1- VR 10 is pretty much solo questing with some grouping dungeons if you feel like it. This game is not a gear grind like so many others. There are crap tons of things to collect but all serve a purpose like mars for crafting or to make your own armor weapons or enchantments. If your looking for a loot grind quick race MMO your not gonna find it here. This in an RPG online where you live in the world and become your character.

Yes I am aware of becoming my character and I do enjoy crafting. I dont mean to sound like a Diablo junkie, lol. I do love the loot, but I also enjoy being able to explore, and I fell in love with Skyrim, but felt so anti social playing it lol. I am hoping that the looting & action style from Skyrim is similar to this.

I only played 2 hours of Beta before servers went down, but I enjoyed what I did see, I am at 30% installed now. Guess Ill find out in a few hours. But either way I am sure Ill have my share of fun. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

This game currently has 1/10th the content of Skyrim. It is fun, it is beautifully designed, but you may feel like there should be a cave over there.... And there isn't. So just don't get your hopes up.

I'm betting you will like it, there is a lot to do, it just won't take you two years to complete everything like in Skyrim.

No problem for the reply but no this game is not Skyrim on line. The loot you find will not be great nor will you find done ultra awesome legendary sword on a random guy in a cave. You'd bd lucky to get anything better than a green item before level vr 10. If you go into it thinking its an RPG that's online you'll enjoy it. If you go into the game thinking its Skyrim online or WoW in Tamriel your gonna be diss appointed .

Thanks for that info. I am sure that they will add more content in time right? Also I dont have this game on steam, and steam stats show about 14 to 25,000 players online at any given time. Are these the same servers Ill be accessing? If so, I am already excited just to see a populated mmo. SWTOR & Fallen Earth(forgot that one) are the only 2 I actually ever played more than 100 hours(more than 6 hour even) and they seem to lack the Massive part of MMO. I want to be apart of that massive feel where the mmo feels like a real world, as if you went to a big city, and you see all the traffic. not like I am going to Gary Indiana, and its deserted lol

Perfect!! I do not want to find easy Loot. I want to struggle, be forced to craft and keep looking and finding different items. I never played WOW, not even a trial, so I really have nothing to compare this to. TOR and Fallen Earth are polar opposites, so I am looking forward to this. The only thing that ruins MMO for me, personally, is an MMO that is empty or very low pop. So I am looking forward. Thanks again. 84% done Woohoo!

14-25,000? That's a huge gap. There are only 2 servers NA and EU. In the starter islands which you can skip you'll see some players but not too many. Then the next few zones going from about level 10-vr1 are packed everywhere. Then it thins out in vr zones but you'll still plenty of people. Once you get to craglorn it will be hopping again. And yes new content every 6 weeks

I played TOR for a year and towards the end it got to be me and another guy on our server, maybe enough for a pvp match at peak.

That's not the case here, there are always people on.

And, yes I flipped the numbers in my head. ESO has more content than Skyrim.
you may not be able to do most of the new content right away, since they have been focused on the veteran levels lately.

    But anyway, welcome aboard.

All I can say is I LOVE IT so far. The combat is a nice change, I can actually block and dodge, and not just be forced tot ank it and hope to do more dps than I take. Also scored my first green lol before I beat my first boss, which dropped nothing special. This is what I like, random drops, bosses dont always mean good loot. The story seems rich, so far not seeing any players but I am guessing I am on the "you newb, do this first before we let you see the rest" quest lol.

If the rest of the game is even remotely as good as the last 20 minutes, I will be around for a long time to come. Thanks again everybody! Was never one to listen to the reviews of movie critics. Game critics are the same parasites imho. It is their opinion. And my opinion, for a newbie to the mmo world, THIS IS EPIC

Sorry, just had to yell that. Ok, back to the game. First toon is named Mmo'Geek in case you see me in game B)

Well, your first 30 min- 1hr will be in an instanced area, so don't fret about not seeing anyone just yet, as soon as you get out of couldharbor the world will be alive with other players.

Welcome and hope you enjoy. There's not much of legendary gear grind in this game but you can be hoarder still, however you are quite limited with bank and bag space. It is possible to grind mobs for levels too instead of questing. It will take about 2 days gametime to go from lvl 1 to 50.

Areas are quite alive especially Rawl'Kha in the peak hours.

14,000 to 25,000 via steam stats but yeah I am seeing many people, already got invited to a guild and one high level is going around helping us lower levels to grind away. Really liking the community, and the gameplay, man, do NOT aggro more than you can handle lol. Learned that fast haha

It does feel empty. Here's hoping it's just the phasing tech failing. Tho I found myself surprised, there's people doing VR public dungeons now.

Enjoy. I really loved the main and subquests 1-50. Sadly the game was ruined for me after hitting VR and had to do the VR quests. There is change in the future for that i think. I do enjoy PvP and you might too. Just hop in to try it and join a big group. I am sure you will love it.

I am not an alt person, but i made an alt (DC again since i liked that story the most) just to do the story again.

In all honesty, try not to enter ESO with high hopes. I know I did and I was drastically disappointed.
ESO has HEAPS of content, that's for sure. But i found a sh#t load of it to be tedious and repetitive. The whole 'replayability' is virtually non existent. Gear grinds are slow, monotonous and unrewarding to the point that most people don't even bother.
Don't get me wrong, you WILL have fun with this game. But the longevity aspects that keep games rolling for several years is undoubtedly missing is ESO.

P.S -That being said, I look forward to seeing you in Tamriel. =)

Welcome to Tamriel! It's nice to see new people coming. Hope you'll like the game, though I feel you already do like it^^ The game is really awesome, can't stop playing since April. I don't understand people saying "the areas are empty, no players, etc." Do you actually play the game or not? Wherever I go I see other players crafting, questing, farming public dungeons and so on. The game is LIVING!

I hope you'll love your first character, because you'll be able to play it through the whole game. I totally fell in love with my argonian and don't really feel like giving it up.

    Anyway, enjoy the game!

Total utter non-sense. Land mass alone ESO is more than three times larger. Quest count ESO is 5 times larger.

you will love it if you dnt get caught up in the hate.

Lots of loot to be had and epics start around 30

Pvp is epic if you can get in and stay stable

dugeons are really fun if you have some good m8s, lots more dungeons coming in next patch and the loot looks epic!

    and crafting is pretty good!

If your fairly new to MMO's then you will love ESO.
Most of the moaning comes from MMO vets that have been playing them for years and I mean like 10+ years. We came from a generation where it was all new and fresh. Each game released introduced something new and exciting to the genre.
Nowadays its all been done before and it's very hard to distinguish one game from another apart from title and style.

We crave the old days where you could literally 'live' in another world with friends from all over the world (Horizons/UO/EVE ect) creating events to be played between guilds and most importantly, we looked forward to getting home and logging in.
MMO's these days are all about just grinding to the max level as quickly as possible then moaning cos there's nothing left to do, they miss the journey and being forced to group to do content doesn't make friends, it just makes acquaintances that you drop if they are not up to your 'standards'.

The main problem is big companies got involved, this means they just want there investment back as quickly as possible then a percentage of all other profits. They really don't care if the game works or not aslong as they get their money back.

ESO has the makings of being a great game IF it can last the 'early days' which is im afraid to say looking dubious. We should not be in the state we are in at the moment at this stage of the game. Introducing 2 extra end game levels and having people max them within hours of release is just a failure on all counts.

In my opinion ESO should break the mould and go back to the old days where the game is life, not just a grind but this will never be ONLY because this game is being set up for console players who really don't like MMO's anyway.

Next year will be key to this game, if it works well on console release then it will have a future, if it fails then the suits will pull the plug so fast to cut their losses you wont even get chance to say goodbye to your guildies.
Being First is not the prize, it just mean's everyone can stab you in the back.
