Why pick that Race?

With the wide choice of races available in ESO why did you pick your particular race?

Some will have picked for the racial benefits
Some for the RP Value
Some for the aesthetic value
Some simply due to the storyline and staying to the lore of races to alliance.

I personally choose a Redguard despite being a proud member of the Ebonheart Pact as I didn't seem to see many Redguards running around the provinces. Also the racial buffs were a nice perk for the play style I prefer.

So why did you choose you mains race?

I picked Bosmer female as my main character (templar), because I love how they look. They still have elvish eyes, but their faces are not wrinkled in any way. I also love that they can be very short. And they can have cute little horns, my main looks like a miniature sucubus.

Now I only wish for a face and body sculptor, because I made some mistakes when I was creating her. For example, her mouth is a little too close to her nose.

My first race was Bosmer. A thought a bosmer archer would be nice (yeah, now I know how I was wrong).

As a main character I use Imperial.
    1. If you want to craft, then you don't need to find/buy imperial motif.
    2. Insane hp/stam boost. For now it's not for min/max build, but don't get too much stamina.
    3. Imperials look far more better than in previous ES games (IMO).

@Zosia, agree, some bosmers female are very hot! Especially in orcish heavy.

    Dunmer.

I find them the most aesthetically pleasing, very well cultured, responsible architecture and It's beauty is intense, the list goes on. Plus, Azura, Boethiah and Mephala are love, are live.

Not to mention an integral part of my main, those princes be.

Imperial because I always make one. I love their history. Same goes for Orsimer.

Dunmer because I also enjoyed the political drama of Morrowind and wanted to play one where most non - ashlanders worshipped the the Tribunal unquestioningly.

Altmer because my friends main as AD, and might as well be top of the racist food chain as it were if you are going to call Summerset "home".

I don't care about racial bonuses, never did. I chose the races I like most because of lore and/or aesthetics. I always start Elder Scrolls games with a Bosmer, so I created one in AD. Then I have a Redguard pirate in DC (my favorite human race along with Imperials, but I don't have the Imperial Edition) and an Argonian in EP. The last one because I dislike Nords and I figured there'd be plenty of Dunmer around, so why not try something different. I played an Argonian only once before.

I started playing the Elder Scrolls series with Morrowind, my first character was an Orc. When Oblivion released, i played an Orc. When Skyrim released, i played an Orc. Same goes for ESO.

I usually play Orcs as my style of play is a big beasty melee character. Orcs were perfect for that role, especially with their racial berserk mode, sadly removed from ESO.

I play as an Argonian because I was always curious about their culture, and up until ESO it was a mystery to me. The Hist, Sithis (other than Dark Brotherhood), etc. were just things I heard Argonians talk about. Plus it didn't hurt that I think Argonians look beast (no pun intended).
When I got to Black Marsh in game and learned more about their culture, it only cemented my selection of Argonian for all future Elder Scrolls games.

high elves because I like tall handsome men with dignity and style!

Argonians all the way! Been playing as one since Morrowind. I started playing them just for the underwater breathing, but their resistances are nice too. And you know ... they're awesome looking too, and I've just kind of always liked them.

Sadly, no underwater exploration in ESO ... T_T

My first ever elder scrolls game was skyrim. I am a massive lover of Tigers. As soon as I found out I could be a tiger, I fell in love with being a Khajiit. In ESO, the customisation for Khajiit made it even easier to look like a tiger, so naturally, I chose Khajiit again

I picked a Breton because I took a liking to Breton play styles from previous ES games, and I'm also one of those guys who makes their main character a female (don't judge me). They became my favorite race. I'm glad I stuck with it for ESO because I opted to be a healer.

In previous Elder Scrolls games I have always gravitated towards playing an Argonian. (I've tried playing the other races, they just don't feel right to me) I love the lore, until recently there has not been much about them, so playing ESO has been incredibly rewarding in that aspect.
I personally love reptiles. I own a leopard gecko, I based my main on her. I also like trees. So playing as an Argonian I get to be both of these wrapped into one.
Argonians are well liked, especially in the hospitality job market. If I loose my job as an adventurer from some mishap (say, a stray arrow to a knee) I can always fall back on that. Job security and a steady paycheck is important in these troubling times.
Being an Argonian I also enjoy many helpful racial benefits. I can swim circles around any other race. I have much resto staff love. That poison resistance will come in handy whenever they implement poisoncrafting into the game (I also have the habit of tasting everything..... so yeah.... that helps with that too).

And you know there is the obvious answer:

    Argonian = Master Race.

    Hail Sithis.

I have picked Bretons for two of my characters as I always have a Breton in TES for my main characters. Then I figured out what classes would work with them. One is a Sorcerer, of course. The other is a Nightblade, while not the optimal race for that class, the magic boosts help.

My Dragon Knight is an Imperial, I chose him for the health and stamina benefits.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Ended up with a Dunmer main. In fact, ESO has all my favourite races from Oblivion and Skyrim in the Aldmeri dominion alliance and I started out with a high elf. When I wasn't happy with how that turned out, I didn't want to start over with the same content, so I picked a race from another alliance. Dunmer because at least they're elves.(Humans are a bit mundane IMHO and Orcs are ugly :P)

Not entirely race related, but I'll never give into vampirism or werewolfism (?). In fact, I find it a bit strange that in the Alliance War I'm fighting beside them, when they really should be every uncorrupted player's enemy!
Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

Well I'll take my characters and explain it.

Nightblade - Redguard. I think I read somewhere that Redguards may be the best swordsmen in the ESO world. Well he's wielding 2 swords. Seemed to fit.

Templar - Nord (female). I just imagined a Valkyrie type character.

Sorcerer - Well I had a character in the DC and EP so this character was going to be in the AD. So Bosmer, Khajiit, or Altimer? Which seemed the most likely to be a Sorcerer. That choice was easy.

Dragonknight - It came down to Dark Elf or Nord, but I already made a Nord so - Dark Elf.

I have made one of everything at this point - except an Argonian... for some reason I end up spending like an hour in char creation panel trying to make one look... well... not "lizardy" but it just doesn't quite ever get there, lol. One of these days, I will need to get over myself and make the most lizard looking Argonian possible and roll him to end game

I liked Khajiits from Skyrim and in ESO I could make a better looking one. I always felt the Khajiit where playing more for the benifit of their clan then any political alliance they happen to be in. So that philosophy fits in with the soldier of fortune type charactor I like playing.

My main character is an Imperial and it was a hard decision I was mulling over in the early betas of the game. I knew I wanted my character to be human, and so I was torn between Breton, Nord, and Redgard. I also knew I wanted to play a Templar Knight in heavy armor. I always liked the culture of the Bretons, and their affinity toward magic seemed particularly useful. Having just come from playing a Nord in Skyrim, I wasn't so sure I wanted to do that again. Finally Redgard would have been fantastic, their sword saint heritage, their hardy lifestyle. I also made one in Skyrim and it was fantastic. Ultimately though, I had to go Imperial when I saw what they did with the race. In past TES games I always felt the Imperial had odd boxy heads, and their racial traits were horrible. Finally, I felt they were a race worth of the imperial legion!

I chose Imperial, the mixture of all the races of men (including those weird kothringi and akaviri in some cases).

I picked several races, Dunmer(Dark Elf), Altmer (High Elf), Khajiit, and an Argonian.

I picked them because they are the Races I tend to pick in Elder Scrolls games, I then tried to match classes to each one (without repeating).
