What's your take on alts in ESO?

As some of you will remember, there already was a poll on the subject. But while reading through the comment section, I realized some of the offered choices were not optimal and some were missing. I hope you guys enjoy this new and improved version and I apologize for any inconveniences .

Have you ever only played one character past the first few levels, or do you play multiple characters actively? What was your experience like?

Where do you stand on alts in ESO?

I would like to play multiple characters, but I don't want to repeat the faction stories/zones.
I kept my opinion out of the poll text:

I'm a completionist with my main. I would really like to level a different class for a different playstyle, but having done everything in every zone I've been to makes it really hard to find the motivation to do even just the skill point awarding stuff again.

When leveling is this story-centric it's only fun the first time for me.

In other MMOs I've been kind of an altoholic, but in those, at least the first portion of leveling areas were separated by race, or the whole world by alliance, so it didn't feel this repetitive.

Also, as skill points are tied to quests and exploration, you can't really level by PvP and/or grinding, at least not before you have enough points for a decent build.

My mentioned alt is sitting at lvl 20 and I may have to wait a year (or however long it takes for me to forget most of the storylines) to continue leveling.

    Same i picked last time.

In the end i spent quite some time doing achivs/skyshards/lorebooks/quests/pvp ...

    All of that.

Im not interested in having to do it all again to play a new char.

Have one VR3 and 2 alts 1-50. Both alts are same faction but are different from my main. I don't mind doing the same quests more than once (I have a bad memory... lol!). I genuinely enjoy the game. Not saying the game is perfect or that I like everything about it or that I never get frustrated with it. Overall I enjoy the experience enough to do it over. I will often take a break from questing to do a lot of crafting too. I often play my toons concurrently.

My main is VR 14. I have a VR 12 alt. Enjoyed leveling with both of them (first char did VR 1-10 pre-nerf). My other alts are mostly mules or for crafting purposes.

The main reason why I don't play my VR 12 alt more is character specific achievements and PvP rank.

I REALLY wish the VR zones weren't the same quests rehashed as it makes the whole thing very redundant and tedious after awhile. It's especially frustrating that they simply don't just allow cross faction grouping. This is a huge deal to me. While I don't want it for regular questing, I think any dungeon/instance should allow for cross faction grouping.

Taking one character through the quests, and then another through the same ones over and over is very discouraging to me.

I'm bringing up another baby character and I got to the point where I had to go into coldharbor to get Lyris out *again* (like the 5th time for me). I was sooo not into doing that again. Eventually I sighed and went through it a few days later and, at the end, I was so....I don't even have the word for it....just whatever. Logged off immediately and haven't played since. I'll probably be recharged enough to start playing again in a few days but, honestly, they really need some alternate advancement routes for alts. Or, allow people who've already completed the main (and guild quests) to just have a way to bypass them entirely.

My main, and one of my alts is V7 currently. My main is doing the progression as it's been laid out for the most part. I did however spend two days (roughly 3 hours each) with him grinding because I was super annoyed at my progress. On top of being super annoyed at feeling forced to grind for opposing factions. For me it was try the Craglorn grind or unsub. He's been at it for a month and a half now, when I can force myself to log into him and do it and he just got to Malbal Tor.

Funny thing is that my first alt hit V7 in 2 days on my days off grinding in Craglorn. Only reason I didn't stay to V12 is that I got bored. However, I have a new V1 Templar, and my Crafter who will hit V1 soon wether I like it or not soon. I absolutely will grind them to V12 and then go back for skyshards/achievements/Cadwell's when I can stand it. I only get about 12-17 FPS in Cyrodiil. After multiple attempts at breaking into PVP, I've given up. It's too damn frustrating being killed over and over and not seeing what happened.

The grind they have setup to reach max level is ridiculous imo. Couple that with having to aid opposing factions and it graduates to insane. Not doing it with all my characters. I will do it with my main just so I can see the content. Otherwise I couldn't care less about AD/EP.

I was tempted by the Cheese option, I would also have been tempted by a Bacon option or a Squirrel option. I would definately have voted for sticky toffee pudding if that had been an option, thank god it wasn't.

I am just about to finish the main story on my third character (pre-vet levels), I enjoyed the stories, and noticing that differences in the difficulty in the area's, and that at various levels different classes were stronger/weaker than each other. I still plan to do the Veteran levels.

I am an altoholic. That said, I'd be ecstatic if I could just skip the main story quests again like you can currently skip the initial Coldharbor introduction. But even BETTER would be for each class to have its own specific questline that you would NOT get to experience unless you played that class.

I was extremely tempted to vote for Cheese but I restrained myself.

Anywho, I am leveling just 2 characters at the moment, mostly focusing on my Templar right now. All 4 of my alts are in DC. I do have a bank alt in EP (I used her to make my guild so since she was the first character I made, I won't delete her). I am considering making a character to level in AD but I'm not sure what class to go with.

DC is just my favorite zone to level in. I really enjoy the quests there. I'd say EP is my least favorite, and I am dreading going there for vet content.

Enough rambling.... I do sort of wish I could go back and edit my vote to Cheese.

I would like to play multiple characters, but I don't want to repeat the faction stories/zones.
this poll still left stuff out. I play alts. but i only really have the time to dedicate to one of my characters. this bothers me. I would prefer if the grind after 1-50 wasn't so brutal for alts. Most of my alts are crafters ( i have a level 30 smith (lvl 50 smith) and a vr2 sorc thats my crafter for cloth and wood) and mules.

I normally log on with the intention to play a certain way or do something specific. The problem being my main is a night blade, so if i feel like being an immortal of a templar in PVP im severely gimped because i havent put in the time to grind grind grind grind and grind some more just to get it to a level at which i can feel effective or stand strong for more then a few seconds.

The thought of grinding in craglorn makes me not even want to open the ESO launcher, and the slow grind of the quests turns me off of even logging on that character and i end up playing my main because i dont have to worry about (much of a) grind (left) on him,

I also deeply regret my crafters being locked on a different alliance. My vr2 sorc hasnt left rawl'kha in a few months ( i like the craft/bank spacing). what would be nice is if when your alts hit the VR levels they could change factions (ONCE EVER) so people like me could enjoy doing things with their clans on their alts.

Im also bothered by the lock out of 8 characters total. In skyrim, oblivion, and morrowind i had a character dedicated to very specific tasks and playstyles. I had probably over 30 characters in skyrim ( i locked myself out of doing certain factions based upon how i wanted to play that character). The Need for mules ruined my alternate character experience from the start, plus the grind.

But when it all boils down this is an MMO not an alternate life to get away from the plague of real people like the other TES games allowed me. So it would appear having just one character was ZoS intentions from the start. 1 main and 7 mules.

I have a v12 NB and almost a V13 DK that is going from 12-14 through pvp.

I play multiple VR characters actively. I have completed or am in the process of completing the silver and gold zones with all of them.

Whether or not I am enjoying the experience depends on how much I like the zone. Repeating Glenumbra for the fourth time made me want to scream (I have a DC char on both NA and EU servers and also played it in beta). I've rushed through it as much as an obsessive completionist can, doing the quests in random order, and leaving the most boring ones until I'm on the phone or watching TV. Still, I can't believe I'll have to go through it for a fifth time with my main (who's in AD). Maybe I'll just do the delves and get the Skyshards and ignore everything else.

Repeating Stormhaven, on the other hand, is fun. I've only done the zone once before, and I find the story and most of the quests quite interesting.

Also, I found myself missing Auridon, and knowing that my DC char was only level 35 and I wasn't sure I could stand doing Coldharbour for a third time any time soon, I started a new AD character. I'm loving Khenarthi's Roost again, even though it's my third time in the zone.

I have no idea how you can fit my answer into your survey. Perhaps you'll need to ask a new question.
