Conversation about Ice Wraith and other Pets

I love how on the 19th you guys said it would be out next week and its the 26th and we haven't heard a word about it.. It's kind of sad that I would even look forward to a pet this much to begin with when the pet system in this game is as fiscal and abysmal as it is. This is definitely not hard content to roll out and you have been talking about it for weeks, you kinda suck the fun out of getting the pets by making us anticipate it for so long..

More so then hoping for you guys to reply saying oh were going to release the pet at the last minute tomorrow so that we are keeping our word and don't look as bad, I hope you will shed some light on the way pets are right now, there are only a few pets, very lack luster, and none of them can be earned in game outside of the dwenmer spider which is INSANELY easy. I miss farming a boss for hours trying to get that 1 pet or that 1 mount to drop and there is nothing like that here.

A few Ideas:
Kill 2 birds with 1 stone, NO ONEEEE cares about the treasure maps/chests in this game, they are also lack luster and provide little to no reward if you find one.. Why not make a rare pet with a low drop rate to stuff in those bad boys, that would make treasure hunters and pet hunters happy. This could also be applied to the standard locked chests we find scattered around the world, as it stands right now they also are pretty useless, 68gold and a green MAYBE blue piece of gear that no one will use.

Add another one to a featured boss, maybe COH or the new vet dungeon coming out in the next patch, would that draw more people to LFG and run that dungeon? I think so..

Add a PVP themed pet to the cache's people buy in Cyrodiil again with an extremely low drop rate , this gets draws in more of the PVE crowd to join the fight in Cyrodiil

Maybe put a really cool one up for sell at a vendor for a high price in a high level zone that isn't easy to obtain, would act as a money sink as well.

I think you get the point, you guys know more what will work then us fans do, thanks for your time and consideration on this matter.

Nah, they should make all mounts attached to the purchase of an RL object like a stuffed animal for 90 dollars.

i am willing to grant you that you had nothing but the best intentions for this post. Falsely, but am willing to grant you that. Fact still remains this is how bad it's got;

when "players" have nothing better to propose than some already overused mechanic relying on RNG as a means of enticing. Let us add some more dice rolls, semi-hidden behind a grinding for the items that can initiate said dice rolls.

Also its not really like that Aenra, years of MMO playing have just forced me to constantly want to chase rare loot and items. I don't care about the rest..I just like to do it. I don't think "this is how bad it's got". Rather,This is how much better it can get. Still a wonderful game just needs to keep growing.

After the whole steam dog fiasco they talked about adding another dog and and other pets.

I'm sorry. I understand that you are upset and want your Ice Wraith yesterday, but please don't generalize.

Personally, I like the treasure chests/maps. They are fun and my guild is actually organizing a treasure map hunt in the near future. Treasure maps also seem to sell quite well in our guild store, so I can't be the only one.

I don't care about pets. I think they just use up inventory slots, but at least the monkey doesn't have colision anymore and I don't get stuck in them when porting to a wayshrine.

That said, I hope that you find your ice wraith in your in-game mail really soon and that you have lots of fun with it.

While i dont think the pets will do that , i will be surprised if they actually launch the spellcrafting system without addint pet spells with it :P.

So yeah , it is more of a matter of time thing really , it is a bit weird to think sorcs will be the only ones summoning stuff.

Just forget about the ice wraith it isn't coming in September, ZOS has lied before and will again. I do enjoy the game but this is a make or break deal.

A pet spell is one of the few they talked about when initially presenting the system (a flame atronach, including a "permanent" morph), so we're good on that front.

As for this post... eh. The Ice Wraith will get here when it gets here. I'm not happy with them going silent on the issue, but I'm not stupid enough to assume they do it out of malice. Something came up, they can't (or don't want to) talk about it, whatever. I'll live.

Pets in dungeons? We already have that, and I thought it was a nice touch. Even made sense in the context of the quest. Sure, it was "easy," but so what? Does spending a few hours farming content make it harder? Is that more worthwhile? Repeatedly doing content you're capable of doing is not difficulty.

Not a fan of the concept of farming for mounts or pets. Mostly because no pet or mount currently in the game would compel me to waste time farming for it. Then, if such a pet/mount did exist, I'd still prefer some other, less tedious way of acquiring it.

I actually think the guar plushie/pet combo is one of the best pet distribution ideas I've seen yet. My only gripe is that I can't afford one.

Well actually one of the moderators did say that a delay had come up, it was it was in another thread about the new pet.

I'm not a fan of pets, neither in a game nor in real life, BUT, I still want to have a Guar pet, I love Guars, but I don't want to buy a plush to get a "pet-code" (even my son is too old for a plush already, c'mon^^) But I even couldn't since I live in Germany and the price is about twice as much because of the shipping cost. Why not selling just the code online? Then it would be just a mail, not a package.

I posted this in another thread regarding this topic but I think it could do with repeating for max dispersal and hopefully the Powers That Be can make it a reality, hopefully.

Cross all the fingers.

I want a bird pet, like a hawk or a falcon or an eagle, something predatory. Or changes to existing pets to actually interact with your character.

For instance:
The monkey climbs up your character and sits on their shoulder should you stand still long enough.

The mudcrab starts snapping at your character's feet causing them to dance around to avoid getting pinched.

The pig brings you truffles and drops them at your feet. (NOT ACTUAL ITEMS, just animations)

The scuttler does figure 8's around your character's feet if you're idle long enough.

The dog runs off and brings you back a stick.

The Razak's opus critter zaps you if you stand still long enough. Or it condense into a dwemer box or something.

Make them do more than sit there and they'd be cool.

I can speak generally on topics.. its the way things are calculated, majority rules and if you don't understand that then you are a lost cause. From my experience, and in the conversations I have seen, the treasure maps are generally a waste of time and effort. That's not to say people dont like the IDEA of treasure hunting, that being said there is no reason why I shouldn't suggest slightly more worthwhile loot because NO ONEEE is getting excited for 5 random blue pieces of gear that they don't want and a filled soul gem.

Also, this isn't a post aimed to get people who don't like pets to like them. It's aimed at getting those who DO like pets more content to enjoy.
