Remove AP ticks

The game crashes, the game lags, the game DCs you a lot. The current mechanic of ticks for AP is flawed because of those things. On top of it the tick reward mechanic seems to be time and radius based meaning that if you are in a keep for an hour defending and then push the enemy to a resource there is a big chance you will get the AP for the resource but not for the hour you spent defending the keep.

This happened to me last night and people were reporting 16k AP in chat when I only got the equivalent of a resource capture because I chased the enemy to the mine.

Further more the bag rewards are also flawed since you changed them last week.After defending for an hour a keep I was only awarded ONE bag...ONE. The same reward you get in 25 seconds of capturing a resource was given for defending a keep for an hour. Got 68 kills solo during that time but no bag for you. I don t care about the gold reward...I don t need gold. What I need are the rewards so I can use them with my professions...screw gold

Then there is the radius issue. I defend for an hour, then port to home to turn in the quest then the siege of that keep is done and I get zero because I am away from the keep. Who thought this was a proper mechanic? It makes no sense and forces people to stay in place waiting for a defense tick which makes no sense. The game should adapt to the players not the other way around on that issue.

REVAMP THE AP TICKS
It is time you revamp the way AP is calculated and distributed. If I gain AP it should go in a pool maintained by the server no matter where I am when the tick happens. If I defend a keep for 3 hours non stop then crash and come back and the fight is over I should not get penalized and get nothing because the game made me crash. My AP and Score should be permanent and stored at the server level no matter if I am close to a resource or crashed

If I break and outer then an inner wall then rush inside a keep only to be killed as the sacrificial lamb by NPCs while my team captures the keep and I res at the camp...then I ride to the keep but hey the tick was already given and screw you for having done all this work to capture the place...you were dead so go **** yourself no soup for you.

The method of giving AP is wrong, it needs to be improved. AP should be calculated per 5 seconds and be awarded no matter where the toon is. There is no reasons to have to stay at a resource waiting for a tick before being able to move. The game itself does not even show the AP given and you have to use addons to see it.

    I agree 100%. Your contributions shouldn't be rewarded based on your proximity to the battle, after the battle is already over.

    I've shown up at the last minute and had almost 0 involvement in a keep defense, and gotten a full D tick before. I felt really dirty because I knew there were people who were fighting their butts off the whole time and probably missed it.

    take away the keep tick, you take away the defending reward. Then the Game turns into Warhammer and GW2 where you just seige and attack and move on and never defending.

    No that s not the point, You still keep getting AP but it is NOT related to where you are when the tick happens...didn t you read what I wrote? The problem is that if you move slightly away from the place you defended you get nothing

    Your title says get rid of the tick. Getting rid of the tick is a dumb idea.

    Why not change you title to "Make the tick radius bigger"?

    No it means give the tick every 5 seconds in the background instead of one AFTER combat has ended...basically replacing a tick with accumulating points every 5 seconds or every 30 seconds instead of waiting for an event (the tick) you may not get for whatever reason

    When you repair a door you get the AP immediately...why do you need a tick mechanic instead of getting the points as you go?

    Remove all ticks and increase the amount of ap from killing players.

    Eh, that's not a bad idea.

    That's a very bad idea as this will promote AP leeching.

    There's no perfect system as one way or another it'll just promote AP-leeching.
    Seen and experienced in Warhammer Online. Keep it as it is for the moment the AP ticks for defending keeps.

    As for me,
    I don't give a damn copper about AP ticks, leaderboards or whatever. I'm in Cyrodill for the fight and the fun it brings. The AP isn't my carrot and if I lose on a defensive AP tick because I chased AD/DC up to mine, so be it. Fighting is way more fun than waiting on walls for a tick.

    You don't know how annoying it is to wanna chase the enemy to a resource or away from the field but having to hug the ass of a keep because the game can't remember the hour I spent defending it if i move 2 feet from it.

    One of those huge annoyances I have with this game.

    Because the tick is a reward for a successful defence (or offence) and you need to achieve victory in the battle to get it. One side gets it and the other doesn't so it adds a sense of personal reward to helping the faction achieve something.

    When you have sieges where the defence holds for hours, one of the things in the mind of the attackers spurring them on is "we've got to get that tick, we can't let them have it", so they keep coming and coming. It's a very clever mechanic.

    I think it should be more of a personal tick depending on your contribution to the fight as opposed to everyone receiving the same. The AP you gained from the fights (the killing, the healing etc) it should be multiplied by a number at the end and given to you. If that multiplier was 1.5 for example, a defence during which you got 5k AP, will give a 7.5k tick. If you got 1k AP, you get 1.5k tick. ZOS can do the maths and find a fair number.

    Oh and when the tick dispenses, you should be getting it wherever you are on the map. If you're offline you should get it immediately after you log on, but perhaps only within a 30min window from the dispense time.

    The above proposal will give you an incentive to stay and fight longer and harder. Other people can't leech on your effort, neither can you end up empty handed because you pushed a resource.
