is it inteded that using a synergy cancels the ability granting the synergy even though it still has duration?

eg.: magma shell, lightning splash, nova ...
spelling and grammar errors are free to be abused

    Not all of them do. The only ones I know of that do are Spear Shards, Necrotic Orb, and maybe Blood Alter(not sure if it still does anymore).

    Well, shards and orb are supposed to be absorbed when synergised with. One is 'picked up' to regen stamina, and the other explodes.

    I don't remember altar disappearing auth the synergy. But I certainly doesn't now.

    Back in the Beta and in 1.0 activating the synergy would reduce the timer for the alters duration after each use. Overflowing Alter morph used to make it so activating the synergy wouldn't cut the time off, but they then changed it to heal more instead.

    Ah, yes, now I remember... :)

    Guess it's been awhile... Honestly, it could still be doing the timer reduction. I just might not notice.

    tested it with my templar, dk, sorc - every class ability granting a synergy is canceld upon usage. (havent tested non class synergies though)

    seems to be wrong having abilities with over time effects canceld the second the synergy is used.

    Except I use Nova and Extended Ritual everyday and they never get cancels when my party does a synergy.
