Idea for Future Expansion Pack: The Royalty of The Realms

An idea I had. Player housing will probably be implemented at some point in the game down the road. What I propose is the following:

An entire new continent has been discovered. It is huge. Larger than all of Tamriel by far. The various factions, of course, wish to colonize it and have planted their flags in different locations.

A low level player could travel by boat to this new land and be given a simple hut in a village.

For end game players, though, the stakes could be much higher.

Through a long quest series and a Diplomacy game reminiscent of Vanguard, one could attain an actual Title of Nobility.

The player would then be assigned a plot of land that had to be cleared and a fort/castle constructed. Further ranks could be earned to enable the domicile to become even more grand. Perhaps NPC guards and a customized Coat of Arms could also be in the equation.

That's the bare bones, and I realize that this could not happen anytime in the near future, but I think it would add meaningful goals. The trick, of course, as we are seeing in other games is that in a mega world housing issues are tricky. That is why I would have the domains assigned instead of chosen, with a possible cap on how many structures could be built.

To retain your land, you would have to continue to further your realm's goals. Quit playing or refuse to adhere to your noble obligations would enable others to conquer your domain.

Not a perfect idea, but I feel it could be refined to add a fresh element not seen in other MMORPGs.
The problem with arguing with a jackass is that they never stop braying.

I also want to see the rest of Nirn but I also kind of want Tamriel to be finished first. But no game has ever shown what was outside this continent. I mean how many other continents could there be? As for how they would play out I think it depends on the continent so I dunno.

Um, they have Akavir, if they need to expand they can go there, it's already in the Lore, has rich cultures for us to explore, and is already mapped.

theres akavir, atmora, the sunken redguard lands of Yokuda and the southern island(s) of Pyandonea where the maormer come from
but adding a completely new continent, where thousands of Tamriel inhabitants migrate to, while there is no record of it anywhere in the future .... thats kinda strange and lore breaking dont ya think

While I, too, long for a way for player characters to attain noble rank I just don't think it's feasible in an MMO. Sooner or later you WILL end up with too many kings and queens and then it just doesn't mean anything. Now say if as high as you could rise would be a Dukedom, that might be a bit more do-able. And tying it to player housing would be pretty cool. I hope they make it to where housing is not just a gold sink but that having it gives you in-game benefits. I don't want to have to spend forever harvesting mats to build housing. I already spend enough time gathering other stuff. But quests to get housing, doing service for the king and queen of the area you want your home in, and then being granted land would be pretty awesome. Having a home triggering new quests from time to time would also be amazing. I don't know if they have the faintest inkling of doing guild cities but if they do I hope you can choose for your home to be located in them as well.

My recollection is that, apparently, few people who go there survive long. Though perhaps they just feel better staying there ;)

    Telvanni pocket planes.
    Problem solved.

And with a bit of creativity, 'attuning'/'unlocking' them will entail some quest chain more reminiscing of older TES titles (Morrowind?) than newer ones. In terms of grittiness, maturity, complexity

I dont think you did. Thats what you do when you compete and want to win. You put effort into it.

If you want to win based on pure luck, play bingo?

well I work and have already concluded I will never get it, since no lifers can play almost 24/7, I dont.
emperorship is based on time played and points farmed, not on skill thats the issue with it, if there would be some sort of skill-meter implemented (like for instance was in Bad Company 2 leaderboards, only the best player could have rank 1, then maybe 10 people could be rank 2, a 100 rank 3, and so on, and the ranks were awarded on your performance, if you had a good day you could climb a few ranks, if you had a bad day drop some, it had nothing to do with time played or pointfarming, like it is in eso) then the rightfull person would be crowned emp, not just the nolifers
