Make Class skills scale from the higher stat between magicka/stamina

At the moment there is still more benefit for beeing light/staff user because both class and staves damage scale from magicka.

So if you want to go full stamina, you kinda sacrifice your class skills to focus on weapon skills.

The solution in my opinion would be to scale the damage/effects of class skills from the higher stat between magicka and stamina.

Class skills would still cost magicka, so it's not a big game redesign, and I think it wouldn't take that long to make it to the game.

It would probably solve the main inbalance issue that is existing right now between stamina/magicka builds.

    While I agree class skills should not only use magicka for scaling, I believe there's a better solution.

    How about class skills scaling off of a combination of magicka and stamina?


    In detail:

    Index:

    m - total magicka
    bm - base magicka
    s - total stamina
    bs - base stamina
    x - number class skills use for scaling

    Currently:

    m=x

    Scaling off of the higher stat:

    x=IF(s>m;s;m)

    pure stamina builds would be en par with pure magicka builds (in terms of class skill damage), but hybrid builds would still be left out in the cold.

    My Proposed formula:

    bm+(m-bm)+(s-bs)=x

    For someone who puts everything in magicka, nothing would change.

    For someone who puts everything in stamina, this would have the same effect as scaling off of the higher stat.

    Hybrid builds would get the same benefits from the change as pure stamina builds.

    why not in this case simply do x=(b+m)/2 ?

    If b=s and if you're talking to me, then because that would not return the same number as m=x. Say you have 500 bm and 500 bs plus 500 invested in s, then (s+m)/2=750, as opposed to 1000 higher stat(s).

    Aha but that sucks! If my Skills COST Mana and my higher skill should be stamina because i have higher reg whatever i still had to go with mana or i cant use skill often that totally make no sense

    AS long as it cost mana im forced to max out mana!

    Yes, it stills costs you mana. But you're not forced to max out mana. If you use weapon skills, fighter's guild skill, you can take from both pools (mana/stamina).

    The advantage with this solution is that you class skill would finally be worth the cost.

    Yeah this, unless they suddenly start using whichever is higher I'm just not sure this would stop me stacking magic.

    That's already the case, but with the proposed changes at least the skills will be more potent and as @thorspark‌ pointed out, if you're stamina focused, you're likely to have skills on your bar that use stamina.
