I am 4 levels above a single gargolye; and I am getting my ass kicked.

How do you deal with gargoyles? Especially if you are a NB.

MY NB does it with resto staff, Strife, Quick Siphon (heal stacking), along with an ultimate (Veil of Blades or Soul Tether) quite easily.

My sorc does it with Atronach and lots of shields.

My main advice for any build: either keep on moving or know when to block/dodge.

My main tactic as a NB relied purely on damage and avoiding hits. It eventually wears him down to the point that I can finally carve out their eyes for a prize....but I was screwed if I was up against more than one.

I had trouble on my NB (bow primary) too. Figured out it's best to dot and block and get out of his aoe. Get some distance too when he starts to petrify, so much of the timer is used during the gargoyle closing instead of winding up.

They are terribly hard to solo. Dodging/blocking will only get you so far without some heavy damage. Best advice is to avoid them or get a few people to help.

You can kill them with any class without using any class skills even... just auto attacks and block their slow attacks and get out of aoe.

    Nb:
    Strife + Cripple
    Siphoning attacks
    Healing ward
    (resto staff)

    ( ~2.4k Magicka ~1.9k Stamina)

    Nothing more to need
Siphoning attacks is only for stamina gain and endless Dodge rolls while running light armor.
U can even kill a Boss Gargoyle with 35k HP with that.
It's kinda easy to wave attacks and Dodge everything ;)

If I remember well they do alot of melee hits right? Then its simple :
Use Sparks (I think its called that way) the dual wield ability that makes him miss all attacks for 4 seconds.
Sparks uses stamina so between those 4 seconds use magicka attacks.
Also works great on Storm attronachs aswell.

    Doesn't work vs. PVE elites.

EDIT: The 40% chance to miss morph I think does, but the morph you are talking about definitely does not.

Thanks for all the great suggestions.

The avoid suggestions are preferable (and I think I have used those before) .... but the cause of this was a delve with gargoyles in the corridor with limited space. Going out - I sprinted past the one near the entrance, but thats not a good option going in.

Going a little bit off topic, why do elite mobs not have better loot tables? Since I noticed trolls, for example, drop the same stuff as wolves, I just avoid the fight whenever possible. Seems like a waste of time.

I never had any real trouble with gargoyles, but I'm playing a templar.

the easiest way to kill a Gargoyle is to out heal their damage. this applies to any harder mob.

Doing so is not a simple matter of spamming heals tho, its a combination of buffs generally.. Like Combining Spirit Siphon, Haste, Soul Swallow, And spamming light attacks. or hell if your a mage, just Spirit Siphon and Swallow Soul

or For any Sorc, Just spamming Crystal Shard with the Critical Surge Morph active.

or for any Templar just spamming Puncturing Sweep after placing Spirit Siphon on it (each Sweep hit will proc the siphon)

or for DK, A GDB when you need it.

really the various innate abilitys each class has gives each class a way to heal while still putting out heavy attack. The trick is just identifiying the options you have avilable to you. These options are not limited just because you "are a stam build" or "are a tank" you just need to learn to stack your buffs

Endgame content in this game is 90% about knowing how to stack the buffs you have on hand... a good raid can combine the various abilitys across the classes to lower hits that can one shot players to hits that can easily be healed through.
I play every class in every situation. I love them all.

The ones I have beat, including a vr level appropriate one, I just used tripots and a lot of cloaking. It saw through the cloak I think, but I usually managed to get an attack off anyway, so I am fairly sure I was getting the bonus. I just know I spent a lot of time moving around, then cloak, surprise attack, rinse, repeat until low health then killer's blade.

The potions were the important part.
Dear Sister, I do not spread rumors, I create them.

Cast Shades, Swallow Sould and Impale and stay out of AoE.

Though I always prefer to have another player around.
