ESO Episode 1.4 (1.3+): Attack of the Bows

Rooty

A long time in the present (what?), in a Cyrodiil near you...

War raged between the cherries, the cheese, and the smurfs to claim Cyrodiil for their own personal buffs, to make it seem like they're pressing their buttons harder for free. Many much gallons of tears were shed as various groups got pummeled over... and over... and over... by other groups. And so did people that weren't in groups... but I digress.

As far as the eye can see, many crouched, unseen, in the middle of an open plain with oddly short grass (cut by Cyrodiil's lawn workers?), or in plain sight on top of walls, with arrows nocked on their bows, ready to fire at any creature that moved, be it one who is soulless or soulful, be it a deer or a moose, or be it a spider if said bowsman/bowswoman had arachnophobia.

But then, one day, a swarm of Dragonknights plowed through the fields, flapping their wings to their heart's content, and bow users across the plain fell over left and right as their airborne arrows met there Dragonknight targets and, by some undiscovered law of physics, turned a complete 180 degrees and met again with their individual firers in a devastating turn of events. It was gruesome... Picasso even did an abstract piece of the scene. You should check it out.

Really though... everybody, their dog, and their pillowcase(s) have been using bows in Cyrodiil since 1.3. I know a lot of class abilities have their overuses, but I think bows have passed the threshold a bit, amiright? Don't they seem a bit overtuned?

There is nothing more satisfying to me than turning on scales near a keep and watching my DPS spike over 3000, not doing a single thing else.

What's even better is when you use defensive posture and reflect the reflected projectiles back at them. Silly DK thinking he's safe.

But..it makes me cry inside knowing the only way I can achieve that type of DPS is to reflect some other classes crit. :'(

If you see a DK flap wings and decide it's time to release your barrage of projectiles on them then I don't know what to tell you.

I was having a 1v1 against another DK, He was around 30% health and switched to bow I immediately throw up reflective scales and crashed.. logged back in. The DK was dead.

I have been questioning though. If i have reflective scales up and defensive posture and harness magika...which spell does what?

I mean how does the game decide what gets reflected and what gives me back health and what gives me back magika?...and when?

You're expecting game logic where I suspect there is none. Grab CLS add-on and check it out. After testing the harness magicka and veil of blades stack I don't think there's logic beyond first in and first out.

Actually, the timing of most Dragonknights is awful. It's easy to count to four.

Non archers just cast defensive posture->crystal frags->dk reflects->sorc reflects back and it's GG for the DK.

How is it fun to play a build that just spams sheild and reflective scales or puncturing jabs? Cause you're pwning noobs who need to.learn to play that's why. It's all good if people see you and just walk away then your game becomes less fun too I imagine.

Well, I suppose it's fun for them. Probably as much fun as jumping around and throwing blazing shards while spamming blazing shield. Every class has their cheese though. Sheogorath LOOOOOOOVES cheeeeese. CHEEESE FOR EVERYONE!!!

Stay out of range then. Siege range > Archer range. Archers also can't shoot through most siege so you can cheese it that way too.

ty for the tip lol. read my comments again. idc, they're not a threat, just wondering how they enjoy it (don't answer that, more of just a statement than an actual question)

I will repeat myself. They probably enjoy it because it's fun for them. Probably as much fun as jumping around throwing blazing shards and spamming blazing shield or possibly leaping up on to said keep wall. Not talking particularly about abilities either but rather a gameplay style choice that they prefer.

    Read my comments again.

    Afterthought:
I do wish that DK could still yank people off the walls. That was fun.

When I face a DK, its with my bow first. if they use reflective scales(which most of them do) I get out My Axe and Mace and charge them, pummeling them. Its good fun!
