Is my Dragonknight viable?

Hi I just came back to ESO after a long sabbatical and I am looking for some advice for my class/build. I am a dual wield, heavy armor wearing nord dragonknight. Anything I should change as in armor? I know some people mix and match Where should I focus on putting my attribute points? Does anyone know a good build that I can build toward for my guy? I want to do optimal dps. I am looking to do PVE solo/group trials and raids, so the usual pve end game type stuff. I am lvl 25 at the moment but it wont be long until im 50 and in veteran ranks.

Hi, i don't know dk build for endgame but i imagine most of the are magica based.
As you are still levelling i would suggest to equip each type of armor, something like 3+3+1, so that you will be able to cap each armor skill line.
This will allow you more option to chose as for gear and to mix and match how you prefer.
For weapon, dual wielding goes better with medium armor, the passives explain everything.

Anyway, play the way you like, its a long way to endgame if you don't grind, so experiment and find the better way for you to play, just be warned:
lots of trial group demand high dps, and this can only be accomplished by using a few type of builds.

Do you know a good build that I can model mine after when i do hit end game?

I think that some dk will post one, as i don't play that class i can only speak for general thing related to endgame not in specific with dk build.
I just don't want to post something that is outdated or not fun to play.

Edit: if there are no responses i will ask guild mates, and report here what they use.

If you want high DPS then your gonna want plenty into stamina and switch to
Medium armor. Medium armor boosts stamina which will help with attacks. You can also switch to staff and dress like the rest of the people. I personally run as a tank so I have high health and full heavy for health.

Please note I'm not a min maxer so I'm not the bed person to help but from what I can see it should help. As a tank I have 3105 health but only 1820 in stamina so it takes forever to kill me but I run out of stamina like nobodies business. Also download the add on to see your soft caps because your gonna wanna get hit critical on your weapon.

dk dw heavy is not very good
dk dw dps all 7 medium and 2 dagger and dw are only single target,
2 hand is better for aoe 7 medium+ 2 hand sword spam Carve and ultimate :)
    both style Molten Armaments
solo Corrosive Armor or party Magma Shell vampire Devouring Swarm
    49 stamina
    Enchanting armor Glyphs heal

switch weapon bow and ultimate use Soul Assault for your bow

Whoa buddy, DW is awesome AoE!

I run a Khajiit DK with 5 Medium/2 Heavy with Sword and Dagger for DPS (Sword and Board on second bar for defensive purposes).

They altered Medium recently to provide +12% weapon damage with a 5-peice set, making it even better. That plus stamina recovery, crits, etc make MA better than HA for melee damage, IMO anyway.

I run 2 Heavy for the extra armor mostly, my DK is 100% melee based.

Steel Tornado is the Stamina equivalent of Impulse (okay, not THAT good, but I spam it like Impulse in crowds). It gives you great radius, higher damage against low health enemies, AND with one of the DW passives, it gets even more damage against low health enemies.

In crowds, I typically cast Igneous Weapons to keep my Weapon Damage higher, then Talons -> Steel Tornado them to death. Against a public dungeon sized crowd it gets me ~2k DPS.

What you need to remember is the Ruffian Passive, which increases damage against immobilized, stunned, silenced, etc. enemies. IIRC its a 15% damage increase. So, as a DK, talons + dw is your best bet. I prefer burning talons for the DoT.

Single target you have things like Rapid Strikes, Unstable Flame (intense DoT). Blood Craze (another good DoT + heal), Lava Whip. My sustained dps still needs some work, but this is generally what I do. My AoE dps is more than enough.

Plus, for DW, doesn't flying blade have an aoe morph?

That's up to you. In general I believe most people put 49 into health since the soft caps on the other stats can still be hit with enchantments and food. I have something like 34 in health and the rest into stamina, just because I wanted the extra stamina and trusted by ability to survive if I shaved off some HP. It's up to you really, but I think 49 into health is still the preferred distribution.

OP - A little friendly advice. I would put all your points into Health as others above have mentioned. You really can get all the stamina/magicka you need in other ways (passives/morphs/gear). You'll also get plenty of skill points as you level up. I've only used the DW tree on my nightblade - but if you're going dps ... choosing AoE morphs will suit you best. I wouldn't discount Flurry either. It does a good bit of damage (albeit single target). I would also wear a few pieces of each armor type on your way to 50/VR1 (if you aren't already) so you'll have them leveled or pretty close and will give you more options down the road depending on changing desires or buffs/nerfs to armor types.

If you're min/maxin ... I wouldn't dual wield or wear heavy armor though.

As for viable ... you can probably do just about anything and be capable of succeeding in this game.

As my signature states my character is a V14 Dragon Knight Nord, I'm not really happy with my character but at this point I'm not going to restart. I didn't do any research before I chose my class or race so I think that is the most important thing to do. Anyway, I've been running dual wield and bow ever since I reached V2. I'm level 50 in every weapon skill, I tried to determined what would work best for me.

On my dual wield bar I run volcanic rune, rapid strikes, steel tornado, cinder storm and green dragon blood with the ultimate being standard of might.

On my bow bar I run bombard, magnum shot, lethal arrow, fossilize and green dragon blood with the ultimate being standard of might.

I have 49 attribute points in health, use 7 pieces of medium armor (4 pieces are Hunding's Rage and 3 pieces are Night's Silence) and I put health and magicka glyphs on two pieces of the armor and rest have stamina glyphs plus I use a provisioning item that gives me an extra 185 on health, magicka and stamina.

You can obtain the soft cap in magika and stamina through use of enchantments and food, as they have lower soft caps than the Health pool does.

maybe you got solf cap but not the same skill damage you will be more weak
ok your base point give you 4.5time more damage compare item point ;)
that why you need to be base stamina maybe the same for base magicka

in my case i put only 18 stamina base point to = 81 on my ring to have the same damage that why is so useless put 49 heal point better be pure stamina or magiska or 50/50 but never heal because you gain nothing extra

I'm new here and I've been browsing the forum catching alot of this crap.
I've literally lost the will to bother playing. Elitist pigeon holing and class descrimation every where I look. Stick and skirt or gtfo.

Seriously can someone give me a reason to waste one more min f my time here?
I Enjoy PvE especially end game raid content in MMORPG's, but I don't play FOTM's in fear of being kicked or discriminated. F that.
I waited 6 months thinking surely they would have ironed out the worst of it by now. Apparently not.

Guilds. A good guild don't care about classes or elitism and will accept everyone. Me and my guild mates ran dual tanks with medium dual wield and a Templar as a healer. The elitist are always like this where they find an overpowered build and then try to convince everyone that if you don't run that build then your not good enough.

I think I could have chosen a better race for Dragon Knight and maybe I should have chosen a different class. I survived this long maybe my choice is not that bad but you know that phrase about the grass being greener :D

Side step the elites, there are lots of people who here provide useful info.

There are plenty of people with their own agenda to push. For example I'm an NB who wants to play stam builds, I get L2p all the time. Care not a jot.
