Not Sure If Game is Dying or If I am Killing Guilds...

Just got my 3rd personal guild bank today. Either this game is dying a quick death or I am such a persona non grata that I don't even get guild-kicked -- rather the entire guild quits playing. Feel free to speculate!
The only substitute for victory is overkill.

    entire guilds are quitting

i have a very nice 500 slot guild bank myself

the majority of the feedback from members that left our community that once numbered over 400 (probably about 40-50 actives left at most now) is that they haven't seen anything from ZOS in regards to communication, fixing existing issues, or during the past 6 months bringing anything that would even remotely entice them to stay in the game

add to that, if you so much as accuse a troll of trolling here on the forums, you get a ban warning, your rebuttal of whatever the troll baited you with is deleted, and the troll's post stays in place

i'd link you to a specific example but that would probably get me banned also

There is no one who can be blamed more than the ZoS management.

They are scrambling to deploy to Console to get better ROI. They don't care about existing customers, they already exceeded their threshold on whether or not we were profitable for them.

They don't understand sustatined revenue streams, they only understand revenue now.

PvP is stagnating for reasons mentioned above... New games came out with shiny new PvP (not saying it's better.. but new). A lot of people left to play other games. I did for awhile and came back when I realized PvP in other new games isn't any better and doesn't offer the one thing ESO has... RvR.

Cyrodiil needs a lot of work. Personally I've liked the non-vet server over the other servers more since coming back to ESO because Cyrodiil doesn't change as fast... battles last longer and there are less people using the FOTM builds that everyone hates. AP doesn't flow like water so forward camps are extremely valuable and do actually get used up. Just wish the non-vet server had the population that the 30 day ones had...

Given if some reports are to be bedeviled would say the game is dying, there was a story a few days back that ZOS has done lay offs.

So guilds are leaving and the game seems to be dying.

ZOS did layoffs, but it was mostly to their over staffed customer support team. They beefed up their staff for launch with all the issues.. bots, broken quests, broken features... now that the game has been out for awhile the staff is no longer needed. Most of the major issues have been resolved. This is actually normal for MMOs across the board. It doesn't mean that the game is dying from a development point of view.

As far as the game actually dying.. there isn't an easy way to tell how well it is doing since there are just the 2 megaservers without population gauges. PvP is dying for sure.. but we know that because we can see the populations. I would guess that the PvE portion of ESO is actually doing very well. The way the megaservers make players join instances of a zone that are already populated... you will never see a dead zone... rolled 2 new characters recently and was able to get people to help and talk in zone chat all the time... even at the low levels that would have died off in games that don't have this feature.

ZOS is catering to where the money is (PvE0... can't blame them, but as a PvPer it sucks when they have Cyrodiil sitting there being neglected with such great potential... RvR is why I came back to ESO.

I find I am far more happy and enjoy the game far more when I don't complain over every little thing which the majority of this forum does. I enjoy myself, the game, and the peanuts that is 15 dollars a month.

Just do us a favor already because there are like 10 people on this forum that spew the silliest of complaints day in and day out..... quit. Just quit, you obviously hate the game just stop. If you actually complained about the correct things instead of crying wolf about the stupidest, most ridiculous things people might actually take you seriously. Instead you complain about things like people not getting banned left and right for made up exploits (news alert, they do ban people, just what you think is cheating or lack of knowledge of the game and thus blaming it on cheating is actually just game mechanics) and ZOS not immediately changing the game drastically every patch (like any MMO has ever done that.... ever...).

Where did I complain "about people not getting banned left and right for made up exploits". Where am I asking for ZOS to immediately change the game drastically every patch? I've been here since before alpha, I think I have a pretty good perspective on how long fixes take.

Maybe you are confusing me with someone else or generalizing.

For once Covert, that post was not directed at you :p, instead your thread has allowed me to direct to the people (some in this thread which is why I said it) that have been all over this forum crying like children about everything. It must be exhausting to play a game that all you do is complain about :|

On a side note, yes I agree you're definitely the cause if we believe in falsehood of correlation = causation (I'm willing to accept it this time ;) )

How much is disillusionment and how much is basic gamer ADHD? People kept talking about flocking to Wildstar (although I'm not quite sure how people can genre-hop around without getting a nosebleed) when it was new and shiny, and the only time I've seen that name mentioned in a couple months was when I typed it just now, heh. Now this Archeage or whatever seems to have claimed half of my guild, which used to regularly have 30-something (out of a couple hundred) online at any given time to now we're lucky if we scrape into double digits. (Which, incidentally, it's fine as it's apparently just one iteration of a guild that has spanned various games.) There have obviously been frustrations with pvp, sure, and I know occasionally I'll sign out of Cyro and think "Eh, done for a while," but I think some gamers just enjoy the process of feeling out a new game, learning the mechanics and gist of it, getting rapidly as possible to "elite" status, throwing their weight around as the alpha players of a game who have worked out the best tricks and tactics, and then moving on.

For my part, I'm actually just a longtime TES nerd who hadn't played an MMO before this, have actually enjoyed it quite a bit (for all the bugs and so forth, I haven't had many complaints about the content, graphics, and so forth, much truer to the feel/spirit of TES than I had dared to hope), and having thought I would ignore pvp entirely, I instead wound up getting a bit addicted to it for a while and still going back into the fray often. With all that said, I'd like to see the widespread and legit pvp concerns addressed (note, not necessarily FIXED right away since I realize some things take time and we can't demand things right now Veruca Salt-style and expect instant gratification, but at least frequent communication about the process, above all simple ACKNOWLEDGEMENT in particular, is good) - if I can keep on top of threads and issues in this section of the forum without much effort just as a recreational thing, surely people who have the job of doing so should be able to. Which isn't to say there isn't an effort being made, but more visibility would be reassuring to the player base imho.

Guilds come and go. In my experience it is a leadership issue not a game issue. My guilds that died had leaders that did not organize activities or were inactive. My surviving guilds have daily activities and active leadership.

Update 2 - Crypt of Heart dungeon and pve improvements.
Update 3 - Armor dying, "closing campaigns" and pve improvements.
Update 4 - Upper craglorn, v14 rank pve improvements bla bla
Update 5 - Imperial City for pvp players!! Heyooo!! but hold on, nope nope "we did not mentioned we will add imperial city on update 5 guys sorry, you should wait more and more for new pvp content guys. until then, keep paying, maybe we can take care about pvp."

Sorry, this game already died for pvp players. Unfortunately im playing eso since the release, but never seen pvp fixes, updates etc. They're just increasing guards power. That's all.

for sure guilds come and go - this goes beyond that though

example one gaming community http://www.gaiscioch.com/ whom i know a few members of, brought 6,500 members to the game - that's six THOUSAND five hundred - they had to fill 13 500 man ESO guilds to have them all fit

none of them have left Gaisioch - however today they don't even fill 2 guilds

and trust me they had activities not just daily, but all day long

It is a mistery OP , you come to forums and people say the game is fine , nothing to worry about.

Yet tons say they guilds are dead over and over, the only ones that manage better are the ones that make weekly cuts.

    Really werid logic there.

Still because the mega server and the fact zen doesnt need to release numbers , we wont be sure really. Personally i think that if the numbers were good , zen would talk about them.

if the numbers were good, we'd see a continual INCREASE in the number of campaigns, not the DECREASE in them, and even with the fewer campaigns most of them are underpopulated buff servers

i'm pretty sure i know which way the pvp population is going, and this is in spite of flooding pvp lands a couple of months ago with their 50% off Steam sale - not many of those that made it to Cyrodiil from that batch have stuck around it seems

ArchAge came out...so that'll hit the population for a bit..Eventually some people will get tired of the queues and quit that game (we're talking 5-6 hour queue's every night)...Then you'll have the people who flood an MMO the first month who'll quit the game..doubtful they'll go back to ESO. The people you'll probably end up getting back are those that left for the PvP but soon realize that the game is P2W.

I'm in one "real" guild and 4 trade guilds atm. I have no loyalty towards my trade guilds so if one of them is starting to feel a bit slow, I'll leave it and join one that's more active.

    I think that's probably what's happening.
