The Pace of Updates

Just curious to see how this update schedule is working out for everyone. Personally, I haven't experienced most of the new content, but I like that it is there for when I'm ready. I would still like to see more universal content, like the dye system, rather than more trials and PVE-only content, but that's another matter entirely.

What really bothers me is the fact that all of the updates seem to break major game functions, sometimes the game entirely, for so many people. I've come to be prepared not to play for a week after every update. Update four has been the best for me so far, but there are still too many bugs present that were reported in the PTS but made it live.

I would rather the update pace be slowed somewhat to allow extra time to wipe out the major bugs. I feel like the current pace is unrealistic to ensure a stable experience. I've had a couple of friends almost give up on the game because it became unplayable after updates 2 and 3.

Too fast. Too many bugs are introduced when content is pushed this quickly, whether or not I have experienced the new content.

I expect the bugs. I expected the from day one. I expect them for the entire life of the game. But new content is great too. and they actually do fix MOST bugs in a timely manner. Notice I said most not all. I mean heck WoW is still patching fixes from their last update which was what? A year and a half ago.

But if bugs bother you then you should go play a bug free MMO and while your there say hello the Easter Bunny and Santa Clause for me

/end rant: Thank you for your tolerance of my ranting of other peoples ranting

Also please note I do not condone the use of vampires.

I chose other as I feel the pace is good, but the content/features are not what is needed.

1: Fix bugs and balance. This should have a very high priority but it doesnt seem to get the attention that is needed.

2: PvP update. There as been no real PvP content/polish since the game launched and it needs some.

3: Justice/Champion/Spell Crafting/Dark Brotherhood/Thieves Guild should have been made a higher priority then facial expressions and new vet content.

I do understand that a company like ZoS has multiple design teams, but they have divided their attention to much and need to gather their resources instead and work on game balancing and adding what the players truly want/need.

I think "bug free" is entirely unrealistic and not what people are expecting. I've experienced my fair share of MMO bugs before. They just usually aren't as huge and frequently occurring as the ones ESO updates have been introducing are. The game is still young and bugs can be expected, but this is also still a critical time where people are developing impressions of the game. Being forced not to play for an entire week because the game is broken can make some unwilling to ever return.

Yea pushing tons of new content for one style of play, and ignoring your original endgame completely is just bad business, so surprise there tho.

I dont burn through the content too fast , because i dont even bother doing the new content at all.

The point im making is , since they decided to add content of only one kind per update , all the time from one update till the next it adds again new content of a certain kind leaves a part of the playerbase without anything new to do.

Which means , if they plan on really only giving attention to a share of their players each time , they better run even faster.

I agree. Trials never appealed to me. I'll probably do them eventually but it won't be a lasting experience for me. I want to see some PVP content. I did love the dye system, but who didn't? I'm also looking forward to new the new guilds and solo content. The arena looks promising but I won't be ready to try it for a while.

I think the content has generally been well designed, save for the entire concept of leaderboards and DPS races in PVE. I just don't want the game broken for a week every six weeks.

The pace is fine, could be sped up. Their priorities are terrible though. And their kneejerk reactions are driving people away.

The problem is their disregard for bug reports through the PTS and not providing testers with the correct tools to test everything.

Also, the whole adding things that weren't even tested is also causing a lot of problems.

Which is funny because they begged for more testers with the last road ahead, yet when people test the game, their feedback goes unnoticed and the bug reports don't accomplish anything and things make it to live that aren't even tested.

I think the updates are fine, just very one sided with too much raid content. The Dye patch was my favorite so far as it did add content for everyone and not just a small minority of players.

I am looking forward now to the justice system and stuff that isn't based on trials or dungeons ;)

Too slow, not because I burn through the content but because I simply can't wait for the good updates to drop.

I check the notes, if it doesn't have anything I'm interested in I rather not spend valuable time doing it when I can be pvping.

The pacing of updates is good.

The introduced bugs are rather annoying. However, I don't think slowing down the release rate will help fix them. A large number of the issues wouldn't have happened on live if ZOS would read their /bug and /feedback from PTS. ZOS just really needs to reevaluate their testing and QA process, because it's rather lacking.

I was tempted to vote too fast, but then I thought - pace is not the problem, execution is. Doesn't matter whether they release updates every 6 weeks, 2 weeks or 3 months - as long as they push changes in spite of them being /bugged on the PTS.

I'd like to see more focused updates. Now the patch notes list dozens of completely unrelated changes (and some are not even listed), each of which might break something. By pushing them live all at once, not only are ZOS increasing the chances of breaking things really bad, they're also making it more difficult for themselves to identify what exactly causes which bug.

New content should be released stand-alone. So that if it's broken, you can continue playing what you played before.

Changes to existing mechanics, skills, quests, mobs, shops, etc. should be pushed as soon as they pass testing, so that they don't accumulate. If a change is /bugged on the PTS, immediately remove it from the next update. Pushing things you know are bugged onto live servers is the lamest thing imaginable.

It's too fast in terms of adding new levels which means our gear becomes worthless and we have to get and upgrade new gear.. and who knows when will it become worthless again?

It's too slow in terms of classes and builds balancing changes. We were promised that something will be done about NBs and stamina builds .. 3 months ago or so? And that is not happening. Instead, they are releasing new content, where some of us still have no place. (everyone knows that magicka aoe>>stamina aoe, so when it comes to arena leaderboards, some of us simply won't be invited.. or if they start their own groups, will have no chances to make it to leaderboards).

Im fine/appreciative of the pace, though I look forward to the some difficult solo content or the imperial city more than more group content. Some content diversity would be nice. All in due time, though.

The pace of the updates is generally too slow for me. The updates have not been large (except for the first one) so a true 4-6 week window instead of the 6-8 week window we currently have should be easily obtainable, especially if they stopped padding the updates with things that do not need to be changed or added.

That being said, the number of bugs - sometimes significant and easily noticeable - included in the updates is staggering and embarrassing. Seriously, how did the plain as day crafting interface bug ever make it from the PTS where it was reported as a bug and noted in the PTS bugs thread on the forums almost three weeks before release?

ZOS has a major structural issue at hand which they need to resolve. Either they need to hire competent developers and QA personnel or they need to start paying attention to and fixing the issues reported by players on the PTS. Preferably, they should do both. Otherwise they will alienate even more players as they bungle future updates.

I thought IC was coming in 1.5 so I have been even more depressed since seeing it won't be. I thought that they were finally putting effort forth for pvp'rs but nope.

Besides, they'd just break the game releasing it, anyway.

I cannot speak for every facet of the game, but I think the pace is fine. Especially since they have so many updates to push out.

But the the question of is it too fast or is it to slow will always have people on either side. The way I see it is that no one is ever going to be 100% happy with anything. That's nearly impossible, so give the devs a break, they are working on the problems everyone is always complaining about.

Well I never not had to play for a week. Yes there are bugs from time to time, but I can usually play anyways and not worry about it.

I think the patches are good. These patches are huge, much bigger then other games currently put out and with the size of them the pace seems good too.
