Forum Emoticons where are thou??

A short while ago the number of Emoticons we can use got cut, I used to have a list of Emoticons in my signature that you could use. None of them now work.

> : ) used to give you a laughing Imp.
O : ) used to give you an Angel head, with flapping wings.
: \ used to give you a confused Emoticon
: s used to give you an emoticon that looked around nervously.
(minus the spaces, I just discovered some of them give the Emoticons from the list at the top, but they used to give Better Emoticons)

They used to enrich the forums, give us a little cheaky nod at humour.
Why were they culled? And can we please have them Back?
