Anyone ran Vet COH before? Smooth sailing up till the last boss, which we could not even bring down his hp below 90k. Any tips for boss mechanics?

I realize this is rather late, but we got up to the last boss after about a week of on/off trying and basically everyone ran resto as their offhand. You need to block the gigantic flying skull he sends out at one person, get out of the giant red AoE he does after teleporting to one person and when he raises his staff in the air and the smaller red AoEs with chains start coming out of the ground I run around in a circle of the room spamming Blessing to heal myself through. Needless to say we got him down to where he grabbed the Ebony Blade out of the middle, but then we got bent over and forcibly fed our own ****s because he does so much damage at that point.

So basically what Panda said. The fight is not a DPS race until the last stage. Here's a more broken down guide:

    1st stage:
    - When you see him raise his staff and turn to face someone, he's going to send a giant skull at them. That person needs to block the skull in order to cut its damage in half. If they don't, the healer will be overworked.
    - He will also raise his staff and stand in place while creating the AoE chains. He summons them on your location, so keep moving. Don't waste a roll-dodge on that if you can avoid it.
    - He will occasionally teleport to a grate to summon two adds. Burn them down. Fast. (Unless you're going for the achievement.)
    - The last main ability he has here is that he will sometimes teleport directly to a player. The instant he does this, or the instant you see him glowing blue, get away from him. He does a massive AoE that centers on himself, and it will one-shot you if you're caught in it.
    - This phase is not a DPS race, so if you just steadily keep damaging him during the times that it's possible (no adds up, etc.), you will be fine. But you really can't make a mistake with the skull or his teleport-AoE.

    2nd stage:
    - This one is a bit of a DPS race.
    - Tank should keep the boss on themselves and be using any mitigation they can for his regular attacks.
    - Occasionally, he will grab someone up in the air and shield himself. I have heard that the grabbed player should spam "X" at this point, but having never been grabbed, I'm not sure what the purpose of that is. What I do know is that the boss will not let that player go until his shield is down, so DPS needs to burn him especially hard during this part.
    - Ideally, you should be able to get him down after one of those. Definitely after two. Make sure that DPS have abilities that increase damage on low health targets (Impale/whatever-the-other-morph-is for Nightblades, etc.)

the purpose of hitting X is to reduce his DPS and extend the time he is locked down on the player. if you don't hit X he enrages after that point . I did live through it one time actually by smashing X , but i am sure that was a bug.

As nevarine said the real key to that fight is to keep moving you can actually strafe back and forth from one end to the other and the chains will spawn at your last location . don't waste your stam on dodge rolling.

Having a sorc with the 300 percent ranged execute is key too. I sorc tanked it yesterday morning with a good pug group and did the zone in about 35 minutes.
Two sorcs on the Golem and the last boss = win

These are some really great tips guys. Thank you. Will definitely use it when i run it again tomorrow. So you do need a tank for the second phase. Some suggestions i saw in another thread suggested 3 dps instead of two and a tank.

1st stage, as said, is mostly about knowing the boss's pattern. If you have that down, 1st stage is pretty easy if you stay sharp and stay out of the red circles.

The 2nd stage is not a true DPS race.

DPS is really only necessary to get him to release his grip move. When he does the grip move, you have to destroy the bubble around him (represented by his blue health bar extension). Once the bubble is destroyed, the person being lifted can press x to release. If you are unable to break the bubble, then the person being lifted dies.

However, even if you don't have enough DPS to break the bubble, it's still ok. As long as the healer or the tank doesn't get lifted, there is almost no consequence for a dps to be get killed by the lift move as long as the other dps is quick to res. But if the tank or healer does get killed by the lift move, I've seen it cause some trouble many times in PUG groups that aren't prepared for that situation.

If you don't have enough DPS to break the bubble, it's probably better to let the member die and conserve resources for his next round of attacks.

Yeah, these are great tips. I'm excited for us to re-group and try again when we're all on next. I think the part about continuously moving is especially going to help our group. Not that we weren't moving, but still, we could have been more I suppose.

We can also try have A dps on one weapon set, and then switching to tank and his other, I've seen him use that sort of set up in tight spots before.

We also suffered to find any viable tactics for the last phase. Each time our DPS wasnt good enought to burn the shield down fast enought.
So we stick to die\ress tactics.
When boss grab some1, just regenerate resources and stand near to the victim.
As soon as victim die, you usualy have plenty of time to ressurect and continue fighting. Bossess attacks at this stage are not very fast so any1 can tank him for this perioid with dodge rolling.
With decent dps one ressurect should be enought.

Mashing X do seems to prolong the holding grab.

Was always wonder what do those 3 pillars do from which he spawn adds at the first phase.
On second phase those pillars start to burn and deal heavy damage if you stand on them, but i think there is some purpose on that like greatly increasing your damage while you stand on it.
I wasnt lucky enought to convince my groups to try it so i cant say for sure.

Anyway, after we noticed that loot there are total crap like any other vet dungeon and moreover, vet Crypt bossess doesnt even drop a regural vet dungeon set pieces i stopped entering this dungeon.

P.S. Can any1 confirm that Crypt bossess doesnt drop set pieces ? I made 12 runs there and non of my groupmates got a single set piece.

As long as you're using magicka build on DPS, it should be smooth sailing.

Thank you for an utterly useless (and completely untrue) comment. I've run multiple achievement groups for this dungeon, and at least 1 DPS in each group (me) was a melee build.

Crypt of Hearts bosses do drop VR12 set pieces sometimes.
