Actually I have heard that these developers would rather bury this game than let it go free 2 play.

If I took ANYTHING from the interview its that the Devs are going the sink or swim route.

Theres no F2P model and no plans for one meaning this game has NO CHOICE but to survive and in failure to do so simply means it will be taken offline.

Maybe people should think about that for a while with this game.

I'll gladly pay a monthly subscription for as long as the game exists just to not have to play with the F2P crowd.

You mean you didnt know of bit of fact about ESO and was expecting a game with no base in what ESO said it was.

I am sorry if the game was not according to your expectations.

Some of us looked stuff up......sounds wierd.

I like how he avoided all the serious questions. It just tells me two things:
    1. It IS going f2p
    2. They are going to cancel console ports.

Are you serious he answer question about free to play without avoided did you even read the interview at all?

    1st question about F2P :

Leonid Melikhov: Ever since the game’s launch, Elder Scrolls Online has received a fair bit of criticism for monthly-subscription. Do you guys have plans to change that sometime in the future?

    His answer :

Paul D. Sage: No, we don’t have any plans that I am aware of to change it in the future. You know the business model is what the business model is and it allows us to deliver high level content on regular basis right now. So there are no plans that I am aware of.

    2nd question about F2P

Leonid Melikhov: The Elder Scrolls Online will be one of the few titles that will have subscription based service. Considering that games like Star Wars the Old Republic started out the same way but went free-to-play since subscription based model didn’t work, why not lean towards more of a free-to-play concept?

    His answer :

Paul D. Sage: You know again, we have no plans to change subscription plans.

Honest Paul did not even try to avoided answer about console and there is nothing in his answer even suggest that the are going to cancel console again did you even read the interview????

    Question about console :

Leonid Melikhov: Sounds good. So the console versions are delayed. Do we have a release date and is it going to happen this year?

    His answer :

Paul D. Sage: (Laughs) – Were really not speculating on when the console release date is going to be at this point.

Just for he is not gave us date on console release date don't mean that the are cancel console atm.

Could you imagine the fear if the man flat out stated this game will go offline before it goes F2P. People are screaming jump ship NOW due to fear of it going F2P.......but for the game to simply disappear altogether that's a REAL loss in time invested into a game.

Hate to say it but I think this game WILL get buried instead of F2P ....... ZOS is going the sink or swim route with zero Safety net since they refuse to work on a F2P game.

People are worried its going to go F2P image the fear of worrying its simply going offline forever.

I'd rather this game stay sub based and keep providing me with meaningful content. However, I must admit the content releases so far have been unimpressive for the most part. I think they are still working on finishing content they had planned before launch. Once they finally start adding new projects based on what players actually want, the game should only get better.

That being said, if the game does go downhill, I'd rather it go F2P than go offline. However, I'd rather play Elder Scrolls 6 with a co-op mode over ESO, so hopefully by the time ESO does die, ES6 is out :)

I agree, and the interviewer obviously missed out on chances to ask about F2P another couple of times.

Maybe it's just me, but that whole article was basically just "coach speak". Nothing was really said, answers to questions were pretty vague with open-ended answers. Anyone who has ever listened to an interview with a coach or watched a press-conference with a coach will hear the same thing. That was "coach speak" in my opinion.

It's exactly what I'd expect from an interview like that. It's not important enough to make big reveals in, so they kinda just small talk their way through it.

Personally, what I took from it is that this guy at least is a lot less enthusiastic about the subscription model than those in the earlier interviews. "We believe subscription model is the only possible way for us to do what we want to do, and it's here to stay definitely." is quite a stretch from "right now, there are no plans that I'm aware of."

In any case, no one can say for certain if or when it will go f2p.

There is, however, the issue that there will most likely come a time when it won't be profitable to continue under the subscription model, so there are 2 options: cancel now, or switch to f2p and milk it for a while. Seeing as the people in charge usually don't give a *** about anything but money, I personally am as sure as it can get at his point that they will switch to f2p at that point. The only question is when.

More likely a cancel considering TES 6 should be out by the time this game dies...

What? He was asked about changing the sub model and he said there were no plans to do so. The interviewer, not liking that answer, tries to talk him into it saying other games started out sub and went F2P and he repeats there are no plans to change the sub model. How is that avoiding the question?

I could tell you an mmo where they said same... there will be no change in sub.... then it gone f2p in a pair weeks, ofc you was able to sub the same way to get advantages, but its f2p. And some other company bought the game and they work twice as fast and much than previous one. Its a crap mmo ofc, but still it was not a bad change, because it was more bad lol....

Ragnar we agree on alot of things but . i got none of that from that article. When we strt seeing them renig on content updates and focusing on asthetics then we will know its gonna go F2P

Looks at this content update full of just cosmetic fluff.....

Including a new dungeon and Paul talking about adding a justice system with a PvP element. I'm still surprised no-one else seems to be interested in hearing more about that because that seems to me to potentially be a very big game change for PvE content depending on what they do.

with these class imballance, the justice system will be a big fail, like pvp.

Yesterdays patch broke more than it fixed and was definitely a further step in the wrong direction. Zeni's newbness to MMO's is showing. The undocumented changes (intentional and unintentional) are almost half the size of the official patch notes. Cyrodiil is almost unplayable with the lag.

The trouble is - it's the same old story. Untested patches released with major problems that surface in minutes, for us to test for them.

You test, you send feedback, you get ignored, it hits live, you come to forum and say you and 1000 other sended feedback about bug and it still hit live... same storry as always with zos....

If they were any plans to go FTP anytime soon, they would not just have given away a new armor style. Don't wanna wear a dress? Drop 19.99 in the in game store for a tunic.

Theres a tunic in the store? link?

No spokespersons are going to pigeonhole their company into one pre-determined path. The fact that he would not absolutely, un-equivocally state on his mother's grave that ESO will never, under any circumstances whatsoever until the end of time, be F2P really doesn't mean anything other than he's being honest that (1) currently, there are no plans to change the subscription model and (2) anything's possible in a future we can't foresee.
