Poor Woman Lost Her Soul.....AGAIN!

Alas and again I find something simply not making sense to me here.

Finally decided to take another character beyond 50 even though the whole speech by Cadwell about your foes and your friends being yours by a chance matter of where you dropped into the drink from the prison in Cold Harbor felt a bit dodgy to me.

Still I can't level a character beyond 50 in my faction and the PvP here has not appealed to me since about a month after launch. So off I went and found myself in Daggerfall and onto a couple of starter islands.

On the second one, Betnick or somesuch, someone is telling me that Andala has no soul. "Uh, she just got it back, you fool!" is not among the dialog choices. And her not having a soul was not just an offhanded remark or a casual insult. Rather it was a crucial and necessary plot device in the quest.

She wasn't happy. What's worse she was confused.

So, am I to assume this is just the script running that would have run for a new character in this faction? Am I also going to encounter people who died in that massive final battle in Cold Harbor? So, if I've also gone back in time....oh never mind. I feel I'm in danger of flogging a horse postmortem.

Sorry, but this doesn't make sense. Even for a fantasy game it doesn't make sense.

This does make sense, because what you experience in the lands of the other two factions is an alternate reality; it is what would have happened had the vestige appeared there and not in the faction you chose. So, at that point in the story, you would not have your soul.

It make sense from a Devs point of view because it was an easy way to recycle content to allow access to all areas on one character without them actually making any new quest lines in order to do so.

But in this "alternate reality" we can also go back to our home area and Coldharbour.

So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

No one knows who you are, you are sent back in time in that reality to experience what would have happened if you had ended up in different place when you jumped into the ray of light after saving the old man. You can port back to your reality, where things have changed, but still are ongoing. You may have stopped the threat of molag bal and his dark anchors from pulling Tamriel into Coldharbour, but there is some residual magic that will keep them spawning for the foreseeable future. You may have gotten rid of the main straw that was going to suck em in, but cultists are still calling on their god for more to spawn. And while you may have smacked him around a bit, he's not dead.

On a technical note, trying to make every npc on every quest "remember" who you are, that you are a good guy or bad, like to drink blood or get all hairy, would have had tons more bugs and issues than there are already with a huge mmo.

Perhaps your characters Soul is out of sync with the Alternate Universe while your body isn't. In this case, perhaps, it could be assumed that the NPC's will observe tenuous links but no actual soul.
Oooh look, lot's of Butterflies! Wait! Butterflies? Get out of here Sheo, stop bugging me!

    Thanks folks.

And here I felt all terrible about that mad playboy of a General's son, Darrien, dying heroically in the battle at Cold Harbor, only to reappear in Camlorn fighting a werewolf invasion. And, later, employing novel means of extracting intel from a Captain of the enemy side.

Made me glad I didn't have to go through the planemeld quest chain again....well....except I did find it the most inspired quest chain in the game. One moment you're rescuing the last Ayleid King from the lightless....sounds like omlette but with a B, and the next you're rescuing Stibbons from an amorous winged Daedra.

Simple fact is, if you hook yourself up to 5 vigorous guilds, turn on guild chat and turn off Zone chat, you'll find lots of people enjoying themselves and helping you do the same.....as you all have done here.

Darien was literally the only character in the Daggerfall Covenant that I actually liked.
