I also read somewhere (road ahead letter maybe) that there are some combat improvements coming in update 5. Dunno if this refers to the stam/ww changes, but sounds good none the less :)

Chat bubbles sort of came out of nowhere. They were mentioned a long time ago and then vanished from the discussion. Now they pop up in the context of a delivery in the next few weeks.

On Stamina updates, I was under the impression that the improvements to follow were not specific to Stamina but that Stamina would benefit, or be taken into account, by the changes.

Kudos to ZOS, by the way, for distributing tidbits of information like tiger mounts and chat bubbles outside of the normal PR channels.

I'm very curious how this will turn out. Although the practice is not as prevalent (yet), heavy attacks can be clipped in a much similar way as light attacks, and the fact that the devs did not account for animation cancelling at all is one of the reasons the current ability balancing is somewhat out of whack right now.

I'm a bit anxious to see how this will turn out, but any buffs for stamina are good in my book.

This seems like a lazy way for the dev to give players better stamina

This is just my feeling , but it is counter intuitive for a heavy attack to give you stamina...if anything it should cost you stamina. Wouldn't it make more sense to modify the passives in the Medium armor to give a reduction in the cost of stamina, and Heavy armor further give reductions for blocking.

    Two words ZOS: NEW CONTENT.

PvP is currently a train wreck of unaddressed exploits and imbalance. Where are the fixes to perma-stuns, perma-speed, perma-mist, faction hopping, server hopping, troll camping, etc.?

The little cosmetic updates are nice but it isn't alone enough to justify another paid month waiting for updates. I log on to the game with literally nothing left to do except PVP, and PVP just makes me go like this:

    LOMyfg1.jpg

EDIT: I guess I'll see if the Arena and Craglorn 2.0 is enough to tide me over. Too bad there really is nothing else on the market right now to switch between while we wait.

As I understand, most of these things are supposed to happen before Update 5 as patches.

I am curious about the stamina solution. In previous games heavy attacks cost stamina. This doesn't really make sense. They should split off the utilities (dodge roll, sprinting, sneaking, etc.) in some way or make the stamina pool bigger than doing something creative like this that removes the game from the franchise. I am not sold.

Yeah I totally agree they made everything you do almost stamina based, but why not make something like teleporting or resurrecting magicka based also damn, why roll dodge sprinting sneaking is all stamina consmption but nothing similar is not happening to magicka?Really think of this cause it's not fair people with magicka focus dps are not losing it on things like sprinting and sneaking, just makes no sense o.O

Yea, but you also didn't really have stamina based abilities in the other games aside from a really basic swing attack system and maybe dodges.

Exactly my thoughts. How can making a heavy swing generate stamina? It's knee jerk development.

I'm glad they are adding chat bubbles for those that wanted them (especially the RP players). It wasn't something I was interested in, but I'm always glad when they add in the little things that help improve the quality of the game for players. I myself won't have them on as chat bubbles tend to distract me too much.

The stamina generation thing makes as much sense as staves returning magicka for magicka users, so I'm fine with it. I don't know why people are complaining. Stamina builds have suffered too long. Hopefully this will encourage more players to get out from under stick and dress. My Templar and Sorcs will remain in their sticks and dress because it makes sense for them as they are spellcasters.

I look forward to the facial animation thing too. Lots of goodies coming soon.

    Thank you ZOS!

The issue i see with the STA thing, is we are 6mths post release and we get a sticking plaster. That does not bode well for development overall. Things are best dealt with correctly and whilst what you say re MAG is true also, it simply means the lesson should have been learned already.

It's a weak design decision even though it may appease those that were having issues with stamina builds, for now.

I think they should add some player housing and make the game more warmer than it is now for people especially for your rolers players :D!Just imagine your house full interaction and gardens full of your creation which you can farm in ingame free time, invite friends, make guild parties and similar :D

Restoration Staff power attack only restores magicka at the end of the animation, canceling it gives you nothing.

Melee and bow power attacks do less damage if you cancel the animation early or use a skill before the wind-up is complete. It would be trivial to only apply the stamina regen when the full wind-up is completed.

Stop thinking that Stamina is actually stamina. Stamina is a resource pool, and one in dire need of more and better ways to refresh it.

No Imperial city no player housing?? :***

Have you been paying attention to any of the "Road Ahead" posts? Or bother to watch the QuakeCon wrap up video that showcases everything we can expect to see through the end of the year?

Imperial City will likely be Update 6, hopefully dropping in November if the pattern holds.

But as far as player housing? Paul Sage said in an interview somewhere that we shouldn't expect to see player housing any sooner than at the very least the 1 year anniversary of the game, more likely closer to the 2nd anniversary.

They have more important things to fix before they important happy fun time games. If you're that hard up for housing and farming, FFXIV: ARR has housing with farming like that. Or WildStar has a flippin' AMAZING housing system. It's absolutely stunning and I highly recommend checking it out.

WildStar was my "I need a break from the broken-ness that is ESO" game for about a month, then they started implementing all the fixes that originally pissed my wife and I off about ESO. Now I'm excited to see whats coming and will wait patiently for all the nifty roleplay Quality of Life goodies.

Some ok stuff here, I hope we can get 1.6 before the end of the year, would be nice, chat bubbles I hope they have an off option, not against them for the folks that want them, I just don't see myself using them, don't want the screen clutter. Seems pretty much like first year growing, balance's and the like, most all new games go through.. :expressionless:

About time they tossed a bone to the people begging for better social features to make the game feel less like you're playing with a bunch of npc's half the time.

Big +1 on chat bubbles--hope nameplates are next (optional, of course).
