They just said on Twitch that the beginning of Stamina buffs will be coming before update 5.

    Awesome an ETA.

Yep. The first thing they are doing is heavy attacks are gonna return stamina.

Really hope this doesn't apply to resto staves. Return on magicka and stam? OP... AGAIN.

I think they mean that heavy weapon attacks that are not staff weapons, swords, bows, maces, etc, anything that uses Stamina will get a Stamina return..

Awesome. As stated earlier, I wasn't able to tune in to it live. I caught the last bit but it was just worthless AoE PvE fest 2014. Still refreshing Twitch since they said it would be archived under past broadcasts.

That's...........KINDA good and bad I guess.

Currently as a Magicka user your still stuck with a Restro Staff to get back your Magicka as a Magicka user.

You COULD allow BOTH staff types to allow the Magicka gain but then that really penalizes Magicka users that want to use Melee weapons versus a Staff.

This seems more like a step in the wrong direction. Seems to go against play as you want as your further gimping yourself wanting to play as a battlemage.

I tend to agree with you on this. I guess it's nice they are finally addressing stamina but I can't help but feel they are going about it in the wrong way. Instead of creating a mirror image of the resto staff with other weapons (further restricting builds) they should be going the other direction and untie the magicka regen from resto staff and figure out a better way for resource management.

Make it purely tied to armor passives or better yet tie it to the resource pool itself (like other games have done in the past). The more points you put into a resource the better your regen for that resource and have it weighted so that the regen gets better and better the more you spend. That might actually force people into an actual decision with point allocation instead of everyone going 49 into health. You would have real decisions to make regarding pure dmg into magicka or stamina..or splitting between them for a hybrid and health for survivability.

Here is the initial fix for stamina, no matter what you say this is the right one :) lol

    1) Stop scaling damage with resources and make the resources actual resources. Stamina and Magicka should just be there to determine how much you can cast or use an ability, not a determining factor on how much damage those abilities do. Damage should only scale with level, weapon damage, and spell damage and nothing else. This would also make balance a lot easier since there wouldn't be this enormous difference in how much damage the same spell can do.

Agree; this would help solving the stamina issue, and at the same time this would open a door for viable hybrid builds.

    3) There should be a new resource, call it endurance for this discussion, for blocking/sneaking/dodge rolling/sprinting. You can put passives that reduce the cost in different lines. For example medium armor reduces the endurance used for sneaking. Or one hand a shield passive that reduces endurance used to block. Maybe reduce endurance used for blocking Heavy Armor.

Agree; the asymmetry induced by game mechanics that forces people to use their stamina for both dodging, blocking, interrupting, etc... and dealing damage with their weapons is one root cause of the stamina builds not being viable. The other root cause is class skills mechanics being entirely built on magicka.
