Vampires and Fire Resist

Hey All,

For the expert Vamps out there...I have a question.

is there any benefit to running with two flame resist pieces of jewelry (2800+ total fire resist) or is there a cap where just one VR12 fire resist piece (1400+) is the best bet?

Talking primarily for PvP...Thanks in advance for your help.

tbh I think running fire resist will depend on your class and play style. I play a sorc as my main and I run 0 fire resist. Since I'm mostly a range figther a DK's fire dmg isn't so bad so I use spell dmg, spell reduction and regen enchants and I kill DK's just fine sure I'll run into one once in a while that knows how to build and play their class but I would still prefer other enchants over fire resist.

If your a templar or melee nb then u may need to use it and tbh with all the vampire rage players have against vampires most players wont even pi$$ on u to put u out if you are on fire.

My Dunmer Sorceress, just runs reduce block cost on all her jewellery, really strong and enjoyable so far. Not had any issues with this set-up in a PvP setting either. I find it's more consistent as well, for me personally and the weird ways I play, as fire reduction only reduces damage of fire damage, extremely obviously, so when I'm fighting Nightblades and Sorcerers, I'd be better with reduce block or something else. I'm more adaptable and less focussed on one resistance, which suits my rhythm.

Possibly may have something to say when I tank fire damage in PvE though, which is yet to be seen, maybe someone else could shed some light.

I'm interested too. Saw a few advices to have one fire resist even if you aren't vamp because of big amount of DK in PvP.

yeah, I also siege a lot and fire pots doing 1000-1300 damage is starting to get old.

I may just do some testing

There is a fire resist cap of 2500, so two rings wouldn't be very beneficial. Depending on your class and race, you have magic and elemental resistances anyway, so it's possible that even 1 fire resist ring would get you to the cap.

I was using fire resistance jewelry too, but at some point i decided to drop it and use other effects instead and i have to say, i didn't really see a difference. As a vamp, fire will always be a problem, with or without resistance, so you would be better off to use other effects on your jewelry, that make your build stronger and just don't care about the fire weakness.

Fire pots are doing massive damage to everyone, but if you are prepared, you can survive them. Pop a shield or two before going near a pot, or quickly pop them after you've been hit by one. That will give you extra time to heal yourself. Or use a spell that removes negative effects, that stops the burning.

Long story short: 1 piece of jewelry maximum. if you're dark elf, go without.

I'm not an expert, but I think one piece of jewelry with a legendary fire resist enchant is plenty enough.

    1. Even as non vamp you will die to Stealth Oil and Impulse.
    2. Standing in a crowd (or zergball) will pretty much ensure you aren't actually hit by Impulse or Silver Shards.

No need for fire resist, it isn't going to help you that much.

    Within; Without.
