PvE answer to "Emperor" (just an idea)

So aside from being really cranky that I'll never have that awesome shade of red dye, I really don't mind that there's a PvP Emperor and that I'll never be that person. But someone pointed out that there's nothing that corresponds to PvP Emperor on the PvE side of things. And I kinda think there should be. Not because "it's not fair" but, you know, just for fun. That thing ZoS wants us players to have so we'll keep paying for our subs. :) So here's my idea: Guilds of at least 25 members can have a Baron. Guilds of at least 50 players can have a Count. Guilds of at least 100 players can have a Duke. Guilds of over 400 can have a King. Here's how it might work. You pull up your list of guildies. You right click on your favorite's name and a new option is added called "Select for Baron/Count/Duke (as the case may be). Voting lasts for one week with guildies acting as a Senate that selects their leader. This person very well might NOT be the guild leader. When voting closes the person with the most votes is Baron/Count/Duke (as the case may be) for 3 months. Gaining this title confers a cool rare dye to keep permanently and a cool costume to keep permanently. Maybe even a groovy tabbard as well. And, of course, the title. That person also gets a 10% health buff in PvE during their "reign" but this goes away once they no longer hold the title.

Again, this would just be for funnsies but I think people would enjoy it. Further suggestions or thoughts?

Agreed. Maybe they could re-title the PvP Emperor as "War-Hero Emperor" and the PvE version could be "Diplomatic Emperor"?

Nah. I'm fine with the PvP guys and gals getting to lord their "Emperor" title around. Historically, emperors became emperors through conquest anyway whereas most other noble titles were inherited. Since the latter can't really be achieved in an MMO we'll have to go the more "Roman" route of the "Senate" (your guild) selecting their ruler. Such a system adds fun for everyone while not diminishing any perceived prestige from Emperor.

I wear my Tamriel Hero with pride, while all those emperor wannabes were fighting each other for a posh chair I was saving the damn planet. I don't need some additional title, to a PvE player that means more.

Perhaps historically in our world, but in Tamriel that Emperor title is a connection to the gods, so I'm not sure what conquest really has to do with it. Look at the Emperor from the Oblivion game (Martin Septim), he was Diplomatic Emperor if I ever saw one.

I don't have a problem with PvP'ers getting their Emperor title, if it means something to them then fine. As I have zero interest in PvP I'm not interested in the title, and as for the shade of red dye it provides I'm sure there's no discernible difference between that and some of the other shades, not least with gamma and monitor settings being variable - if you want a different shade, fine-tune your game/monitor settings!

If there was to be some sort of corresponding title for PvE'ers then it should be based on a character never having entered into PvP, and should not be dependent on e.g. guild membership which is entirely irrelevant to the parallel qualification.

Remove emperorship from the game; clawback the rewards. Enjoy the whining that will ensue.

I think there are a number of titles relating to PvE that require as much effort as getting Emperor does, so I really don't think that something else is needed. Particularly something that would be arbitrarily decided by a guild.

It's just a fun way to have more titles. Right now the only way to achieve any kind of "royalty" is via PvP. I'm sure most hardcore PvPers think that's as it should be but I don't see anything wrong with giving the PvE crowd some fun titles and "royal" items as well. And since most PvPers are ALSO in guilds they could benefit as well and enjoy a bit of fun fluff.

As much as I am not a fan of much of the e-peen waving and raging that goes on in the PvP crowd, I can never get behind advocating doing much of anything for spite and/or just to make players, any players, unhappy.

The way the Emperorship works at present can be seen as being pretty arbitrary as well. I used the format I did for this suggestion because I don't think it merits a questline or a huge amount of developer time. And while I agree with you that there are PvE titles that are easily comparable to Emperorship, none of them grant a noble title like Emperor that I am aware of. That was kind of the point of adding these.

I think it should be more fitting with the Undaunted, seeing they are the most involved with doing dungeons and fearing no boss.

I could see it come in with the undaunted passives. They can make a "undaunted head quarters" Like the mage guild Island or Fighters guild with the great forge. It could be like a guild leader board where a guild can become somewhat of a faction of the undaunted, which would give guild exclusive leader boards (Who did what dungeon the most, who killed X amount of bosses, fastest time guild completed X dungeon) which would unlock rewards for the individuals and guild itself (additional designs/layouts for tabards to show how mighty the guild is, or a disguise to show who is the grandmaster boss slayer in the guild) etc.

If ever, a "PvE-Emperor-title" should be bound to efforts, but I cannot think of any effort one could make in PvE, which would deserve that title currently.

Thx to Giny, Sarana, Thaili, Derra, Cherahim, Gloy, Raweelz and Drimacus, you make the game worth playing even with AoE-caps, no usefull progression past Assault / Support Rank 10, and with PvP being not even close to balanced.
