What to do with Research Points when finished with 8 traits of a Profession?

So last weekend I finished my last of 8 traits in Woodworking. Yay! But now that research project just sits there empty. My add-on reminds me every time I log in that I have 0 of 3 research used in Wood.

Wouldn't it be great if after all that time and effort, you received an Advanced Researcher Commendation that allowed you to use those 3 slots to research the other two Professions? Maybe even just one additional slot each for Clothing and Blacksmithing?

There is the 9th Trait coming in 1.4, and a fourth level of the Research Passive that limits max research to 30 days (otherwise it is something like 55 or 60 days for the 9th Trait)

Okay, so I guess I still have something to research on the horizon.
That doesn't really take away from the concept, that when finished with everything currently released you could earn the option.

Or, they could allow us to respec just a skill line, then we could put the points into something else, like another crafting line.

Yes, I have been looking at the 3 points I have in research on my two crafting alts (one of them crafts two lines, so 6 points there) and wanting to move them out to something else once done. Then I heard about the 9th trait, which is kind of Meh really, so I am torn myself what to do once I get all 8, sometime this Fall....

I may respect them all out from research once done. Or not because as soon as I do that, a 10th trait will appear.

Ain't that the truth, that as soon as you respec. . . . .

I craft all professions on my main. I hadn't really thought about how it might apply across account alts. Makes it a little more complicated than just using one completed profession research slots for the other two professions that the same character is doing.

This new ninth trait - Nirnhoned - appears to be very difficult to obtain for one item, let alone the 34 items that potentially could possess this trait for research purposes. I hope I am wrong but the cost of items with this trait are going to be astronomical for a while unless ZOS makes the trait and its gemstone much more abundant.

I like the idea of a reward to recognize an accomplishment that literally takes months to complete.
Question though, what would happen when you completed all Research on a second Craft? You could potentially end up with 9 slots available for Research for the final Craft.

Would personally like to see something in the items we craft that would show recognition of the accomplishment.
    Was thinking something more like
+1 Health to any crafted piece after completing all WW Research.
+1 Stamina to any crafted piece after completing all BS Research.
+1 Magicka to any crafted piece after completing all Cloth Research.
Completing all Research results in the ability to +5 Health, +5 STA and +5 Magicka to any Crafted piece.
Minor upgrade per piece and only slightly more significant in an entire set but enough to show that the best crafted pieces come from Master Craftsmen.

    Or as another option.
Completing the Research for a Craft reduces the number of mats required to improve an item of that craft by one. We've mastered the Craft, we've completed all the research, we should be better at improving crafted gear.
Yellow mats get real expensive if we keep increasing the level cap every few months.
If they ever create a Legendary recipe it better contain bacon as one of the ingredients. I'm just sayin'.

If anything deserves an Ach. that does ..... the 8 triat sets are so bad we ought to get something for it for all that work.

    @Nightreaver:
I'm thinking it would still be along the lines of adding an additional slot to the remaining profession. So if you finished Wood, you get 1 extra slot for each of Clothing and Blacksmith.

When you complete all research on Wood and Clothing (or any two), you get two additional slots for Blacksmith (or the remaining one). The most you would ever have is 5 slots to finish the last profession's research.

I also like your suggestions for completion, adding bonus points to the 3 stats or lowering improvement requirements. Both good ideas.

I like the idea of some bonus for completing all research to 8 traits on a character for a type of craft. You might want to break Blacksmithing down into armour and weapon separately and cloth into medium or light to balance it against the significantly lower numbers of items to research in Woodworking. Perhaps do one stat point for wood, one for light, one for medium, one for heavy and one for metal weapons to reach your 5 extra stat points.

I have been done all wood working items to 8 traits for a couple of weeks now while my Blacksmith and Clothier are no where near being done both categories. Even if I hadn't spent research time on weapons and concentrated on just armour I would still have a couple more months of research time ahead of me.

I assume your suggestion would be account wide so as not to penalize people that craft on more than one character?

My initial suggestion was for the accomplishments of a single character. I feel it represents a lot more effort on a single toon, than spread across 8 alts. I don't believe it's penalizing someone who didn't accomplish the same thing.

I'm not against some sort of reward that takes single toon vs account wide into consideration, but clearly they are not the same accomplishment and shouldn't have the same rewards.
