I have been watching the arguments that death is cheap and leads to exploitation of the game with deliberate suicides and forward camps and respawns.
I have also been thinking about another comment regarding encouraging the players to focus on us rather than me.
My idea then was not to have the old idea of completely lootable gear, but rather only part lootable.
Since age immemorial wars have raged over resources. So cyrodiil should be no different.
1. Raw materials become lootable on death. Player armour and anything crafted is untouched.
2. Although you see the loot it does not go straight into your pocket. It becomes war bounty and is sent to the chests in your factions keeps. Resources are balanced between multiple keeps.
3. These materials remain in the keep chest for 1 hour (to prevent night raids and such with 12 hr or 1 day options).
4. After 1 hour all the materials in the chests are shared by email to the guilds or players.
5. Unless the keep is overtaken. In which case all the loot in that keep becomes the property of the conquering faction.
What this means is you still get materials from looting but its shared and delayed. There is also the chance it will get ransacked before being issued.
The flaw with this is ..why farm resources for the alliance that serves no purpose ? Which is where you come in.....
