I want to extend my thanks to the Editorial team for conducting that AUA. Like the previous ZOS teams, they all seem to love their jobs and they were all very appreciative of the gratitude and praise players were offering them. Story, lore and writing are areas where this game absolutely excels and pretty much everyone who plays the game concurs.

There were some really smart questions, and some really neat answers. This was a fun read. I hope the writing team does more AMAs in the future.

I have been reading the AMA on Reddit and it was fantastic.
Laid back, no trolling and the writers revealed some very interesting hints
of what is to come in ESO.

Pay attention, forum-goers. This is one of many reasons that Reddit is a better platform for these kinds of events.

Wow, not a rage post or prediction of F2P in the whole thing. No wonder they choose Reddit.

They are writers... How would they know about F2P and be able to answer questions on it.

Doesn't stop people demanding the answers from devs and reps on the forums.

The forums are where you go to ask questions and get answers from devs and reps.. Q and A with writers... Not so much..

    I disagree.

Its all about moderation and teaching your crowd and Reddit has the exact same trolls or flamers like the official forum does. Besides that,

its a third party website that has zero to offer for people who are not a member there. Its like with Steam, why should we sign up for this if we want to get first hand info for ESO?

A company has an official forum, its their working place for everything that involves community work and this should be used.

While it may sound weird for some people, I don't like signing up to hundreds of forums and websites just to play a game.

We had good stuff going on here during Beta and the first ESO days, I don't see a reason to change this and move to an external website now.

Don't get me wrong, I respect the work they do and that they try to get in contact with us but it should really be done at the official forum and not an external one especially if that one requires a sign up.

Maybe the reason they chose reddit is because there are a few too many savages roaming the official forums? Just a thought! ;)

I thought you had to be a subscriber to access these forums? Is that wrong?

Really, I could care less if ESO took out ads on adult sites(most obscene example I can think of). Whatever brings in more paying customers and prevents the game from ever getting near F2P or worse....bankrupt. That is the whole point to keep the name talked about and keep interest out there.

and @daneyulebub17_ESO exactly! An open forum to anyone to ask/type/troll and it read better than the forums LOL
If options weren't necessary, and everyone played the same way, no one would use addons. Fix the UI!

I thought you had to be a subscriber to access these forums? Is that wrong?

Exactly you are a subscriber to the game and then have access to the community of ESO, this is a hand in hand process - everyone who is subbed is a part of this forum.

This is how it should be and is done by every company I know off. Don't have a sub then you are out. Reddit however doesn't work like that, its an external forum where every troll, flamer or hater can post and does so after signing up.

That you don't notice this only shows that the mod team there is very much aware of that and removes any negativity.

In the end there is just no reason to demand that your customers sign up for an external forum to get in touch about your game. Its poor marketing in my eyes.

But all of this isn't the fault of Gina & co. its bad decision making by the people in charge.

I am looking forward to a Q&A at this very forum here, please don't use Reddit again ;)

Heck, they're probably making some kind of financial gain by using the outside site that requires a sign up:
"Hey, we have a few hundred thousand ESO players. how would you like to get some thousands of them on your site? What's it worth to you?"

As in, freaking using us like a commodity, no respect at all.

ACTUALLY, the AMA was way more civilized than a lot of what goes on in the forums. Orders of magnitude more civilized. There is so much hate here.

So you might want to check yourself.

I don't care if it 'happened' to be civilized. The point stands that it's a completely unprofessional place to carry out their business. They got lucky because they did it when children were at school.

Well, duh, of course they wouldn't. But I suspect if the same Q&A were held in this forum, based on the level of logic and perspective shown by a goodly chunk of the participants here, there would be a bunch of snide "LOL. Fix the balance before you write more lore" and "Maybe when the game goes F2P people will be around to read what you write" comments.

I’m just jumping in to comment about that AMA held yesterday on Reddit. As some of you mentioned it earlier, Reddit is open to people that don’t necessarily own an account of ESO forums, that way they can ask their question should they have one. We also made sure to keep you informed of it –invite you to join us and ask your own question and interact with our writing team.

That said, our team is working on some new exciting programs, there will be news pretty soon about those and we are working hard to share as much as possible with all of you.

Reddit is more accessible, since this site requires a user account, and its structure is more suited to a real time Q&A session. It's not a matter of "improving this forum". That's not what this forum is designed for. Reddit's is.

Sheesh, the things people find to complain about.

I'm all for Announcements hitting here first, but to simply host a Q&A elsewhere, after clearly announcing it here, is absolutely fine.

It’s been about a year since our last AMA. A lot has happened since Twitch started three years ago, and there have been some big changes this week especially. We figured it would be a good time to check in again.

I don't think people are upset about your work, I am sure you do whatever you can and we all appreciate that.

Its just a weird step to demand that subscribed people must make a account at a third party website to communicate in such an event.

Every sign up in the internet requires an email and RL information. People don't want to give those out to third party websites especially if they run commercials for gold sellers etc.
The website is also very user unfriendly over there, its the typical FB generation style without the chance for real conversations it just doesn't fit the taste of many people who play your game, that's why they are angry.

If you guys work on improving the forum and have new things ready for us then this is great but also please understand the concerns that some people have.

Steam, Reddit or any other gaming network is not where they feel home - they like it here and have an account here not somewhere else.

I'm not contracting services with any of the people you posted about. That's great that public officials and other companies decide to post on there. I don't care as I'm not paying them to provide me a service.

I am paying ZOS to provide me a service and I expect them to use the tools associated with that service to communicate with me about it.

Not so professional for wanting to communicate with paying users of their service.

Which brings up the notion that they want to communicate with everyone. Fine. That is certainly a valued tactic and avenue for a business to pursue in order to grow their clientele.

However, given the absolutely ***-poor communication ZOS has had with the paying user base through the forums, I object to them holding an information forum for the broader public at the expense of their paying base. We are paying for their time. I wouldn't be upset about it if we had anything in the way of that kind of information available to us here on the forums. We don't.

My take on this being unprofessional stands.

This, using third party sites is unprofessional and really shows how much they care for their paid costumers, for as long as they continue to use Reddit, i could care less for the future of ESO or any questions/answers provided there.

This is a very valid point of view. Reddit is a third party entity and not everyone wants to sign up for it.
