Block casting - yay or nay?

    Block casting is fine.
    I think it's fine, but wouldn't cry if there were mild changes made. What bugs me more than block casting is just overall block mitigation should probably be looked at. Maybe blocking with a staff shouldn't block as much damage as blocking with a shield (not counting passives or the extra armor), and blocking with a shield in other armor types not block as much as in heavy armor (again, before we add in passives). I'm not thinking huge numbers here, due to adding passives on, but some adjustment there could probably be tinkered with.

    Block casting should be removed but magicka based builds given other forms of survivability to compensate.
    Do you think the ability to cast abilities while blocking is good or bad, should be kept, should be removed or what? Please give a short reason behind your answer.
    needs to be removed from game, also drgons blood also needs to be removed.

    Block casting is stupid but the game is developing healthily around it.
    Make it so you can only block attacks in front of you . Everything else, i think its fine .

    Block casting is stupid and should be removed for balance sake.
    This is just my opinion, but i think these two things would be a sensible solution:

    1. Just like with Sprinting and Casting skills, make it so you can't cast skills [(except using potions) and ultimates?] until you aren't blocking anymore. So when you hold that block button, your skill icons should darken out, just like when you hold the sprint button.

    2. Change the area in which you can block attacks, a frontal 180 degrees would be fine.

    I don't see how they'd have to re-design the whole pve aspect of the game, one tends to be fine even in the higher level content with around 2.5k hp, heals and something or other to boost armor and spell resist (see combat prayer/blessing of protection - circle of protection and anything that gives + DR) and then using TIMED blocks roll dodges and interrupts.

    I've found that as a dps if you die instantly to trash basic attacking you it's because either your healer isn't using any mitigation boosters (which effectively MULTIPLY YOUR HEALING OUTPUT MAKING THEM THE BEST THING EVER!), you have wayyyyyyy too little hp, or you went in way too early and drew a disproportionately large amount of aggro. Thing is, you don't HAVE TO block cast - people just do it because it's easy, and because it's easy and stamina builds don't allow for this ez mode it pulls people away from it and they label it weak.

    UMMM I don't know if you know this but it DOES make a HUGE difference.

    As a soldier carrying your m4 up at your chest versus down by your side HUGE difference it gets tiring fast.

    @Shaun98ca2‌, I'll give you that, at the lower levels.

    At the higher levels, you've trained to the point where youre stamina regen is going to counter any stamina loss from being in standby.

    My perspective is that I'm going to stay relaxed until battle actually begins, so again, no stamina loss.

    If we're adding touches of realism this way, there are other things that would change too, such as the third person ability to see behind you.

    Instant cast is instant cast (except it isn't instant cast because of the animation that takes place).

    Bash should take stamina, blocking nothing should not. The weight of my item split between two hands after 50 levels of training to that position will be hardly discernible.

    Same as holding a bow string at full draw at level 1 vs level 50+.
    Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

    IRL'ing for a while for assorted reasons, in forum, and in game.

    Mitigation needs more work - per weapon.

    I'd rather not see any time penalty for block casting as that will lead to the same problems that weapon swapping has not being prioritized.

    Here's the problem "Bracing" acts as a block toggle. Obviously you guys know this. Block should function the same as normal attack.

    Either defend or attack. I also want melee weapon skills not to function when blocking other than shield skills.
    Anything that can be exploited will be exploited
