The state of Chillrend/Thornblade [NA]

Hi,

I'm Hova, the pvp lead of No Mercy (a NA DC guild). I've gotta a metric [snip] of angry PMs and seen a lot of complaints about chillrend and it being another buff campaign and I wanted to clarify some things.

I apologize for the state of the map, it was not No Mercy's intention to turn chillrend into another buff server.

A little background on what happened. When the new campaigns started, the populations were relatively even. Then about 10-15days into Thornblade, a large population of EP including all the oceanic EP left to chillrend. There was dispute between No Mercy, and some EP guilds, and I threatened to take bow of shadows for a DC buff server. After a few days of farming EP at their home keeps, I got several tells from DC pve leaders about getting our alliance a buff server because they had trouble completing trials hard mode without it. So we went and took the buff server, spent a few days defending it, and the EP completely left Thornblade save a few small groups.

The result was, a massive ad oceanic crew 5am flipping everything yellow on thorn unchallenged. And a massive EP oceanic crew flipping everything on chillrend unchallenged.

I was approached by the ad oceanic crew to try to fix this imbalance. So at reset, I brought my guild No Mercy over to chillrend in an attempt to demoralize the EP a bit and push them back onto Thornblade. The EP and AD oceanic crews are actually a good match for each other, and I've seen them have some good fights.

What I did not anticipate was a ton of DC following us to chillrend, resulting in a massive day time DC force capping everything during the day.

Anyways, I apologize for the state of the map, it likely won't fix itself anytime soon due to the massive blue day Zerg. All I can say is go play on Thornblade where yellow and red are having a pretty even campaign, it seems all the "***" reds have gone there, but they're actually dominating the massive AD Zerg. So I'm not sure who the *** is anymore rofl.

Anyways, I hope this clears some stuff up and I encourage the AD guilds to not run from Thornblade, and to stay there and fight. Good luck. See you all out on the battlefield.

Hova

P.s. When chillrend is quiet, we'll guest over to give you guys all some more good fights.

Great post. You didn't have to make this post and its obvious this wasn't all your guys fault. Even if it was, you are allowed to bring your team wherever.

    Keep kicking ass.

PS - What EP guild started this dispute? Was it one of the guys who just recently quit?

Now that the reds have disappeared from chill, it might rebalance things if some blue guilds move back to thorn next time around. (Not saying NM should, I'd actually prefer you stay for the decent fights.) But I'm not holding my breath, buff camps are still a thing.

If I name names, I'll get warned for naming and shaming :)

All I know is, the majority of organized EP guilds are now on Thornblade, so if the whatever AD moved off of Thornblade at reset moves back there, it should be good fights. I'm sure NM will be guesting there a lot more now for some great three way fights. Hopefully the campaign scores can stay somewhat even for a fun competitive campaign.

I hate buff campaigns with a passion. It goes completely against the whole concept of pvp, which is fighting for your buffs. The fact that there are campaigns so dead that alliances can have permanent buffs is a large misstep in terms of planning by ZoS. I'm sure they'll rectify it sooner or later by removing a few more vet campaigns. At least I hope so.

Real Timeline of events on Thornblade/Chillrend:
      • Thornblade1.0 starts, balanced fun fights for 2 weeks.
      • 2 weeks later AD/DC grapple for 1st and EP is too far behind to compete.
      • DC takes the Bow of Shadows buff server away from EP
      • Major EP guilds leave Thorn to turn Chillrend into a buff server
      • Without the EP players to keep AD's night crew in check, AD pulls ahead of DC on Thornblade.
      • Much complaining takes place about AD nightcapping the entire map on Thornblade, and EP nightcapping the entire map on Chillrend.
      • Alacrity leaves Thornblade to help AD on Chillrend, since it is now an EP buff server.
      • 1 week passes with much complaining from every faction.
      • Thornblade 1.0 ends in victory for AD, Chillrend 1.0 ends in victory for EP
      • No Mercy goes to help DC on Chillrend
      • Hijinx leaves Chillrend because they cannot pass Crystalized to get Emp.
      • Thornblade 2.0 and Chillrend 2.0 start
      • Chillrend 2.0 is fun and relatively balanced, Thornblade 2.0 is all AD
      • After a few days DC's population grows very high during the day and they start to pull ahead of EP.
      • Venatus comes to Chillrend from Thornblade to help Alacrity and AD.
      • EGL comes to Chillrend from Thornblade because they can't fight the remaining AD on Thornblade, severely tipping the population balance of both servers.
      • Major EP guilds leave Chillrend for Thornblade because they cannot pull ahead of DC or even pull a single Emp.
      • EHJ leaves Chillrend for Thornblade because they cannot pull ahead of No Mercy for Emp.

As of now the major guilds that remain on Chillrend are:
      1. No Mercy [DC]
      2. EGL [DC]
      3. Alacrity [AD]
      4. Venatus [AD]

As of now the major guilds that remain on Thornblade are:
      1. EHJ [DC]
      2. IR [EP]
      3. Hijinx [EP]
      4. Vokundein [EP]
      5. DiE [AD]

@Nala_‌ that's a pretty bold assertion that Hijinx left because they couldn't get Emp.

That doesn't sound like how Hijinx behaves from my memories, are you sure of that?

they couldn't get emp and were getting rolled by the new AD/DC that were coming over. they stayed for a few days after chill reset, then left to farm all of the AD pugs on thornblade by themselves.

      Seriously. I'm flabbergasted.

But I do appreciate the added insight or personal interpretation.

Edit: I can only know for sure why/what No Mercy did.

Other than the intentions of some of the guilds mentioned, it's actually accurate. No one can answer for the intentions of the guilds in question, except themselves. And I think their answers would be as askew as Nalas were, just in the opposite direction-- so we should just ignore the reasoning and take the timeline solely for the chronological order of things.

You guys realize that 90% of pvpers have no idea/don't care who the hell any of you are , right?

How it happened for most of DC:

-Thornblade1.0 starts, balanced fun fights for 2 weeks.

-2 weeks later AD/DC grapple for 1st and EP is too far behind to compete.

-Without the EP players to keep AD's night crew in check, AD pulls ahead of DC on Thornblade.

-Much complaining takes place about AD nightcapping the entire map on Thornblade

-Thornblade 1.0 ends in victory for AD

-Every DC player (including probably EG) who got sick of the AD overnight capping but, had stuck it out until Thornblade reset, left for the ONLY other viable campaign at the time: Chillrend.
Now Chill is saturated with DC.

Most players aren't fair-weathering campaigns or following guilds around.
There are only a limited number of 'non-buff' campaigns to choose from.
I am sure more DC will be filtering back to Thornblade soon, as many have already homed Bow of Shadows and just want to pvp.

      EP fled to other servers

I'm not sure where you get your info from...but yes, we were originally on Chill to flip emp (which we got like 12 or something the first 2 cycles), but once the EP swarm came in it was very difficult (though we managed a few more), and mostly stuck around to try to win the campaign. We enjoyed fighting the red zerg though and stayed for 2.0 and into a bit of 3.0, but then switched over to Thorn after tons of DC came to Chill for reasons stated. Seeing DC at 2-3 bars, AD/EP at 1 bar during the day on Chill, and TB being mostly EP/AD, we switched over. We go where we're outnumbered and can have fun fights - not sure why you want to start a "who can farm better" war between EHJ and No Mercy/ Hijinx (can't speak for agrippa, but I highly doubt they give 2 *** about emp) and IR. I'd say 95% of us are homed on BoS anyway and only farm when there are too many enemies to capture anything lol.

EHJ and EG leadership have bad blood between them. I think that had something to do with EHJ leaving once EG showed up. Its unfortunate that some of the DC leadership holds grudges for months still. Although I was glad to see DC day/night cap guilds finally unite for a few days and make progress in a meaningful campaign. I hope the DC leadership can work together in the future as they did in the beginning of Chill 2.0
