Eyes Opened to New Play Style

I have been a TES fan from the very beginning. I had every opportunity to use any play style. But for some reason I always shied away from magic-based characters and preferred sword and shield melee types. That changed with ESO. My first play through was with a DK duel-wield/double handed. The game was a lot of fun and certainly challenging since you have to get up close and personal for kills. But for me it was tiresome and a bit boring visually. I'm now replaying once again as a DK, but this time as a fire mage. I'm using inferno staves in both slots. One for trash mobs the other for bosses. I have to say that I'm having a blast! For me, what makes this build exciting is all the great visuals associated with spells, plus the advantage of ranged abilities. I'm only level 26 on this build and am already planning my third play through as a sorcerer! :p

I think this is the exact opposite for me; usually play magica based character, now doing a melee. It's been a fun change, almost want to go back and do Skyrim again with a 2H. Almost because I'd rather play ESO  ...for now.

ESO is the first MMO I've ever played a Tank in. My past experience with MMO's has generally been as a DPS of some kind.

When I got into ESO beta, I started with a Templar and tried out tanking. I enjoyed the experience and when Live came I switched to a DK.

I've enjoyed the experience so far.

My favorite and most memorable play through of Skyrim was as a Two hander wielding Nord, in light armor because it just felt right. When I actually started playing it was better. By end game of course I had mastered everything, but the build was always centered around this design, and archery when fighting dragons. One thing I wish this game had for the weapon wielders, was a combo system even as simplistic as it was in Skyrim.

2H with a life drain enchant on your weapon and all daidric gear in Skyrim will most certainly turn you into a god .

I've done that build and i don't know how many times i went to Markarth just for the fun of killing every single guard in the city lol. At times i had over 10 guards on me at once and i was killing them all only to continue further into the city to go on with my rampage.

They never caught me and they never got me to pay my bounty nor take me to jail lol. Only reason i chose Markarth for that is because there is a quest in Skyrim that actually requires you to get caught and taken to jail in Markarth. And yeah , me being me , i never accepted to let it happen lol.

Be who you want to be , do what you want to do, play the way you want to play.

The Prophet once said :``There is no perfect choice , there are only other choices. ``

Same goes for your build. There is no perfect build, there are only other builds.

My name is Draxuul and i approve this message .

I'm the same. I originally played through with a NB, got it to V12 and decided that I wanted to be a powerhouse, and relying on stealth and stealth attacks wasn't cutting it.

I'm playing a DK now and using duels and sword and shield. Duels is my offensive while shield is my survivablity build. It's amazing because I wanted to use duels as a NB but the damage output wasn't enough for me, now it is!

(I think I might try a sorc with duels next, love the streak,)

Yea I agree, the versatility is great in ESO. I always liked the idea of a battle mage, and that's normally what I played in other TES games. This time around, I am leveling 1 of each "class" to level 10 (DK,Templar,NB,Sorc), to get a taste of each of their capabilities whilst also adding my own touch to each of them. I am lovin' it! I'm also trying to stay away from other people's builds, just to see what I can create on my own. Thus far, I am enjoying the DK, using 1h+shield, and some magicka based class abilities as well.

I started off with a Mage, personally. When I played Morrowind and Oblivion I made mixed melee/magic and levelled everything up. I tried that with my first Skyrim character and ended up concentrating on Destruction quickly because I was able to keep critters stunned 75%-80% of the time with it, even Dragons.

The Sorcerer I started with, didn't do well because I lacked understanding of the system. As a result I have a large mix of characters which I switch around on often. The character class doesn't appear to be that important, IMO. I found that the two most effective damage skill lines are Dual Wield and Destruction Staff. Any character can develop a healer because of the Restoration Staff Skill Line. At the moment I find getting through PvE quests is most effective with .... Robe and Staff, it's not just a PvP thing. It's simply that light armour gives you magic boosts and Inferno Staff gives you knockback as the first perk and the cheapest, simplest AoE as the last perk. The current way the game is set up, this is unlikely to change unless the move the "Clench" Perk down the skill line and seriously mix up the Armour perks.
