Dear ZOS: Please Reboot EU servers, lag is worse than ever!

Lagspikes in PVE areas are worse than ever and general lag is extremely high.

To put it simple: Animations lag is worse than when the server was in NA and keeps slowly deteriorating as time passes.

After server reboot, game performances are way better. Weekly maintenance has been canceled already twice? trice? Stop sitting on your thumbs and if you can't fix the lagspikes (that only started when server moved to Frankfurt) at least reboot the server!

I agree, has had lots of lag spikes also random logout.
I thought it was my pc at first.
Note it might be that they work on solving this, guess the reason is either memory leak or more probably junk buildup in databases.
Far easier to fix the problem if they let it build up so its easier to track.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

This is why I'm always worried when they skip the maintenance, might make life easier for them but it adversely affects the player experience due to the inevitable lag and skill/animation delays.

Yeah I keep getting these tiny spikes and animation lags, like one min I have full health and I'm thinking, oh okay I'm okay, then BAM oh wait now, it turns out I only had 15% health left and for some reason it's taking an age to get my impale to work.

Honestly this game can be a ball of frustration, I just don't trust what I'm seeing half the time.

Where (zone) is this lag happening? None for me except around 22:00 last night (MEST) with one big spike. Was in CH, and over around Davon's.

Yesterday night I was inside AA I had a major lagspike. Couldn't see anyone moving. Usually it lasts for 20s max and then works again, this time it didn't, I had to logout and was unable to login again to that char, stuck on loading screen. While I was trying to log in, people in teamspeak also experienced major lagspikes.

I was also leveling Alts this weekend in first 3 EP zones and we had generalized lag spikes quite often, (around 3 or 4/h).

Regarding animation lag, it's worse than ever, I click on the auto attack button and the char takes half a second to begin the auto attack. Sometimes I release the autoattack button and the animation keeps charging a full Heavy Attack for 2 seconds before releasing it. Game has never felt so laggy, even when we where in North American server we had some animation lag but at least it was always the same.

I have 200mb fiber connection and have ran speedtests to check my connection is working so this is 100% server side.

Agreed. The animation lag is awful, I haven't seen it so bad in weeks.

Same for me all weekend and generally been worse since the move over to EU server. Trying to heal vets this weekend and been a chore.

Is the EU server being run on a Laptop or something?

This is looking more & more like League of Legends, ZOS will say there are no differences between NA and EU server yet EU server will always be crappy and NA will run more or less smoothly...

Lots of random lagspikes, random loading screens every 10 meters (especially on horseback) and even boots back to Log In screen.

This is some of the fun stuff I have experienced over the weekend:
    • Lots of random lagspikes for me too
    • unresponsive keys whilst in combat resulting in death because nothing works at all...
    • Barrels, boxes, chests, wardrobes, urns, vases, sacks etc do nothing when you click "E" to search
    • Bank unresponsive when depositing or withdrawing items
    • inability to interact with NPC quest givers, then suddenly finding the dialogue racing through with no idea what is going on...
    • The freaky situation where you ride into town only to suddenly be a couple of miles outside of town again (also happens when on foot)
    • Whilst riding on horseback you find loading screens randomly happening
    • You click "E" to use a wayshrine, select the wayshrine destination on the map you want to travel to, and are suddenly transported to the middle of nowhere, then next second you are back at the wayshrine, and suddenly, you arrive at your hoped for destination...

All weekend I swear playing ESO felt like a really weird deja vous like experience....

As one of my characters would say:
"This one is thinking that perhaps the people in charge of the EU server are not that good at maintaining it....

    Dark Moons!!!"

Having said all this - I just want to point out that this is in no way going to make me stop playing ESO. I have faith that these issues will be sorted out, and I still love playing :)

I wouldn't mind that a bit, if that's truly the case. Could help if they just told us, methinks. But since they don't, everyone has a subpar gaming experience without reason. Doesn't help that there's a workaround everyone knows about, but they just refuse to use it and remain silent.

Sometimes it feels as if they don't want to have us around anymore.

+1 to this (I must admit though I haven't had the teleport issue dropping me in middle of nowhere). I'd also add.

    - Inability after login to use skills or swap weapons (gotta press Escape sometimes to make it work).
    - Impossible to interact with objects after login in ("Push E" tooltip doesn't even appear) <= this one is getting worse and worse.
    - After teleporting to a town (always Riften for me), if you get on your horse it's invisible. If you sprint with your invisible horse you get a loading screen where there's a 50% chance you won't get out of it.

Haven't had the same loading screen issue as you with the invisible horse, but I have had the invisible horse, but it has always appeared after about 30 seconds or so, perhaps I haven't had the same loading screen issue because I haven't tried sprinting...

At least the "data load fail" box has stopped happening LOL

Yeah, that's what I do now, I don't sprint and the horse appears after some seconds, but if I sprint with lvl 50 speed horse, it all crashes...

I have been having bad combat lag for the past week.

Although I became unable to access the Internet for quite a few hours yesterday, so maybe it is a problem at my end.

I don't usually complain about these sort of things. They have a tough job, and I'm sure they're doing everything they can, but I hope they realise this problem is turning people away from the game they worked hard to create.

    Some feed-back would be nice.

Had similar problems here, most annoyingly, inability to use Ultimates and my archer's rather good pots. I too am sure they will get these issues sorted in time.

Yes, there is definately something wrong here. Other players seem to jump from place to another and there are some strange things with for example getting loot from barrels and stuff, sometimes not responding at all. Everything is a bit jumpy.
Probably also due to these problems(?) I got dropped from the server with error 318 "because I hit the message rate limit.". Hmm? Wrote 2 times Hi in my 2 Guild channels a half an hour ago and that's it. Also I'm not using any add-ons. I wonder in what way I was, like spamming (as the error gives as an example).

    Cheers...

I noticed activating Dolmens in particular to be lagging, when other people are around, but only just the moment before it starts. There can be quite a few folks around at an unactive one, but as soon as the chains are supposed to come crashing down, I'm hit by a seconds long lag spike. Happened thrice already, so seems rather common, sadly.

You can also notice the lag on horse animation. Usually we always had some sort of lag when people sneak (you see them advance as if they where tapping W when on their screens they are walking normally). Now this is happening with horses too. Running animation isn't fluid...

Seriously? Wtf are you guys at Z doing?
Wake up and do some maintenance finally!

I dont care if patch 1.4 is not ready yet. At least you do not rush it, that's fine with me - then bring it later.
I dont care if you had (too many?) ppl fired - as long as you take our money we expect some acceptable level of service!
And the server is suffering and performing really badly these last few days.
Maintenance! Patch or no patch... Now!

Had them a lot on EU server since the move. Sometimes they are really obvious, but sometimes not. I had one of those while riding between keeps in Cyrodiil. I ran around feeling lonely for 10+ minutes trying to find the reds that had been reported around Bleakers and it wasn't until I saw the doors break despite there were no visible players around that I understood that something had lagged me out of sync.

    Servers are not feeling healthy.
