Downfall

Like you all (well, PvE players at least) know, this game has it's fair share of great things, but those bad things are severe enough to make it continuously lose players.

Quests

I mean, quests seemed great when we started playing, they were entertaining and felt different enough from each other not to be boring. At least on the first playthrough anyway. The problem is, to get a single character to the max level, you HAVE TO do ALL available quests in every zone of every alliance. Now that doesn't sound that bad initially, but as soon as you create your first alt.. well, you get the idea..
In other MMORPGs (like WoW), they at least gave players a choice of a few zones (for each couple of levels) to diminish that déjà vu effect. Sure, some zones were mandatory (and later more and more, as generally you could switch just between 2 zones per datadisc (Borean Tundra/Howling Fjord, Hyjal/Vashj'ir, Valley of the Four Winds/Krasarang Wilds), but there were plenty zones to pick from for lvl 1-58 and anyway, they've implemented ways to boost XP (heirlooms) so that you didn't have to make even half the quests of the zone to pass it on alts.

Trade

Well, the idea was good - splitting the market to small pieces, so a few rich players can't influence economy in whole realm (well, that kinda happens in real world too, so why do you care so much?). That's all nice to hear, but after 90% ppl left the game, we were left with literally hundreds of guilds with empty stores. That negatively affects our crafts as well - it's SEPTEMBER and my crafting sheet still has 61 missing traits, because most of those are impossible to get by drop, do not appear in guild stores (which are empty and useless even if you're in 4 "trade" guilds). Sure, you could probably get them by screaming in zone chat for a couple of hours, but unless you plan on selling them for profit, it's not worth it, because people are asking for impossible prices for a *** white.

Combat

It wasn't balanced from the start, but at least there is some (more or less) visible effort to improve that. However, endgame combat turned into boring clickfest after the first *** started to abuse animation canceling. Now everyone HAS to do it to get any form of "good enough" dps, because it's impossible to get there by normal means. Even *** "dps check" bosses are made to be doable only by abusing that. Is that seriously the thing ZOS wants their endgame to be? Then we can all return to WoW for Warlords of Draenor, because even that is more entertaining that [LMB] -> [1] -> [RMB+LMB] -> repeat, occasionally pushing different button to re-apply DoT or use magicka potion. Seriously.
I just don't feel any urge to get to the max level. Hell, I don't feel any urge to play the game at all. My 3 main characters that I have in my signature are stuck on the same levels for over a month, simply because I'm not playing anymore, I'm literally subbed just for researching, in case this game gets fixed later so I can return.

And many more I wrote about numerous times so I'm really not in the mood to write that again and again..

But I seriously doubt anything will change anytime soon. Maybe it's high time for me to stop playing games and focus on college, especially now that I've become half orphan after my father died, with the country giving me, my brother and my mother so little that we'll have to study in another country with 70 euro per month (the rest -100 euro - goes to dormitory fee) so I'll have to get a job there anyway, and I'll be left with no free time at all.

I keep my trait lines going with stuff from the guild vendors. I think I paid about 300g apiece for several armors the other day. I have 6 traits or better across both my apparel crafters now and I have to buy the odd item. Easy so far. I use the guild stores a lot now, very handy.

never had any real problem getting traits, missing a couple in light and 1 or 2 in med, but have all traits for metal and wood.

if u have 3 characters, u really shouldn't have any problems getting traits, remembering that if 1 character has a trait that the others don't, they can just craft a piece, put it in the bank, and another char can then research it straight from the bank, finished woodwork and 1/2 of med that way.

(also saves from holding items just to craft later - 1 wk, 2 wk research time. takes nearly 2 mths per weapon/armour item to research every trait, only 1 mth if 2 chars split the research though - after that no holding items at all!)

i think it's probably just you on that one

You guys probably play on NA server. EU server is pretty much dead with guild stores empty. I'm looking for my missing items almost every day (if I bother to log in, since research now takes me a month per piece) in 4 different trade guild's stores,... well, guess I could do some circles around other guild stores around the zones, but I don't think it will have any effect. Most of those have even less items there than my guilds.

I do play on NA server but still...I'm in 0 trade guilds and I've never bought anything from a guildstore. Maybe you're just looking at the wrong place?;) I get most my traits from friends now. We craft different stuff, got different traits and we're perfectly happy to spend those 5 seconds and 10 ingots to help a friend. That aside, I'm in 3 big non-trading guilds where people regularly ask for traits or crafted sets in gchat and guildies gladly provide - for free. Between several hundred members in each of them, someone is bound to have it.

I have all traits in light armor(except 1 in shoulders), all in woodworking, 6 in all heavy, 5-6 in all medium, all on one toon. And my research slots are never idle. If I see people asking for traits I have, wherever that happens to be, I just make them for free usually - it costs me exactly 1 mouseclick and I have way too many vet 9+ mats, anyway. I've actually made some very good friends that way=)

Also, I don't know how it is on EU but on NA some zones/cities have pretty much turned into world market districts - like Riften on EP side is always full of crafters of all sorts offering their services, obviously not for free but with so many of them out there you're bound to find something cheap enough if you look, and much faster than in several hours.

dont have to tell you the comparison to wow is ..a 10 year difference to a 6 month difference so...

and I find all my traits on dropped gear so far ... down to two traits left on a few clothing items ..have a long way to go on the other crafts ...but I believe i will find those traits.

..and the game continues to grow. You have 3 main characters ....thats already a ton of play time in 6 months. special on a new MMO. I cannot think of ONE MMO that would hold that play time without being bored. ..specially a new one.

I agree about the quest play through though. Forcing you to do all quests in the game the first time round is a bad idea for no other reason than the turn off to create an alt. I know I have absolutely no desire to repeat all those quests again ....and I'm only level 47 haha.

Clearly time for a break my friend. Come back in a few weeks, month, whatever ..or even tomorrow when 1.4 launches:)

To OP: Yes, condolences from me as well.

As for the first reply, ignore it, people have way too much anonymity to drop heartless comments or trying to be internet cool but they're best to be ignored.

One thing I think led to you being bored: You might have started creating alts too early. Been playing one char for 4 months before I made an alt. Made the alt while I was getting bored with my main. Still only own 2 chars, maybe cut back for now like previous poster suggested, get stuff sorted out and come back. After all 6 months is nothing for a fresh title, give it another 6 months and lots of player feedback will have kicked in and game will have evolved.

I play EP but cannot say we lack guild stores, in fact our guild officers who bet on the stores say it's a race for those spots and hard to get and the map is flooded with some really good guild stores. Grahtwood has 8 guild stores alone and they're always taken.

Anyways, keep your head up, best wishes!

And so it was that TESO Forums became the new Facebook. I recommend to stop playing a pay to play game if it's that desperate, if you don't enjoy the game anyway then don't play it. By the way, getting a job is part of life.

WOW lost a lot of Subs exactly because of this.

Do you know how annoying it is to always out level a zone. You can never finish the story line there - its frustrating.

Heirlooms are also a very bad thing. Not only do they make your Char overpowered so that you can already solo a dungeon or kill every newbie in pvp, no they also annihilate any type of Char progression as you pretty much wear the same stuff from level 1-89.

Much of your post is overblown.

Every game forces you to complete a single player mode before you can access endgame content. ESO is no different. You are supposed to quest from levels 1-50. It takes pretty much exactly the same amount of time to beat Skyrim as it does to go from 1-50 (~100 hours, see http://www.howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=9859). Once you beat single player, you don't have to do every quest in Veteran Zones. You can grind in Craglorn for exp and then just go back and do the skillpoint quests if you want. There is nothing forcing you to play another100 hours per faction (but it's actually fun if you break it up into 1-2 zones a week).

There are lots of very full guild stores. I have never ever had any trouble finding a trait on gear, and I only need the very exotic ones. You act like every guild vendor has an empty store. This sounds like you have not even used guild vendors. Go to a city, visit all 5-6 vendors, and at least one will be fully stocked.

PVP is very fun during primetime. Vet dungeons are challenging. Trials are challenging. If you don't like doing these things then ESO is not the game for you.
