Hello

I'm posting here a discussion which was actually a comment i forgot to post about a former discussion about small scale PVP . The question was: Would you like to see more small scale PVP?

Yes, definately I see some serious deficit in the PVP-concept at the moment...

I had very high hopes about open-PvP when it was "announced"; also because i am coming from SWTOR, where pvp is instanced....

but, I must be honest and haven't had much fun in PVP until now.... it's way too much a matter of numbers and about who has the larger cannon fodder...
and too much about being in the right guild with, say 12 friends, to do the high-yielding-occasional 6 hours-raid or so... i can play Cyrodil for 30 minutes, then i just honestly need a to log out... :(

Distances are ok, but transport is way too clumsy and cuts a lot of fun away...

I have experienced lost warzones in swtor which can still be very fun and gratifying...

Maybe there should be some "instanced" zones for pvp-fun, maybe PVE-dailies in Cyrodil that cause inevitable casual PvP-encounters..
Those dailies should be worth doing though and have nice "loots" or "gold" or "tokens" which are worth farming (on the longer run)..in order to keep Cyrodil attaractive for smaller groups or solo players.. and also more alive and players spread a bit more.

Also, I experience Cyrodil as a very, very void and (sorry) boring land....
Before launch , i imagined a lively Cyrodil as in Oblivion with those big cities (Anwil, Bravil, Chorrol, etc....) but only a few are here and they are still too different than their pve-counterpart-cities... They should be hubs for dailies which should have a sensitive impact on the whole Alliance War.

Also, there could be other Alliance War-objective other than the three farms and the keeps , worth completing (for smaller/solo) ...which would cause a difference too, if done more repeatedly... e.g assault on caravans, transports..., sabotaging missions... conquering harbours for economic benefit for the faction....I think there should be objectives/interactables to complete/find/collect/interact within a maybe instanced "warzone" to increase the necessity of a small-group-strategy instead to play cannon-fodder-pvp. More "Strategy" and "Dynamism" as keywords for future PVP-content in a word....

Thanx for reading and sharing your thoughts.

Take care, have fun..

I can get behind a lot of what you are saying here. I came from several other games that had instanced pvp and some with large scale pvp similar to Cyrodil like AOC. I think that there should either be mini games for pvp or there should be a lot more objectives that a team of 4 or so could manage. As it is, 4 people are not likely to take out a farm or anything because everything comes flying at them from everywhere. You can't just pull a few mobs (which makes sense though). I would love to see more hub cities that are being fought over or maybe that are neutral in the middle of the areas. They could even have some that are taken over based on which keeps are owned etc. I am open to a lot of interesting ideas but as it is currently this game's PVP seems pretty boring to me after an hour or so, even when I'm on the winning side of things. Back in SWTOR or AOC or what have you, I would play primarily PVP and I would do it for hours upon hours at a time because it was always fun and interesting. I love the open concept of Cyrodil but there needs to be just... more I think.

Rez tents in their current form are mostly to blame for the lack of small-scale battle.

The best way to get small-scale fights is to create a zone in which travel routes are somewhat predictable. So long as players are able to tentaport across the map, small scale pvp will continue to die.

Yes one of the things that made PvP games of the past so great was the abundance of large scale PvP but also small scale. I have always played PvP a lot in games but in ESO it does not feel right.
Keeps are way too huge (I loved Warhammer keeps, you were in a keep but still "close and personal" enough), spaces are immense, zergs are everywhere, usually with one faction heavily outnumbering the other 2.
Small scale is where skill is at, and ESO has so little of that.

I mean, how can one have fun when you use all your skills well and with a good timing, just to see yourself and the other 3 guys bat swarmed to death by a roaming mob?

Problem with small scale PvP is that it attracts blobs in less than 2 minutes.

You can have a great 6v6 (or what ever number) around a recourse, outside of an outpost or in the middle of nowhere. Than bam. Suddenly your skills stops responding, you're stuck in Invasion, you cant swap weapon. Half the group disconnects.

You turn around and there is the PBAoE train of 24+ players (including their entourage of randoms) pollution the area, killing everyone with a mix of lag, macros, synergies, bats and Impulse. The fun is over instantly.
