Are the endgame quests done at 49.5? I can't find quests to level me up to save my life. There are some 30-39ish quests I missed in other areas, but I think I've done all the quests in Coldharbour.

Do I need to vanquish Molag Bal to see more or am I missing something? Is this where the dungeon farming comes into play? *yawn*

The lower level quests hardly move the bar :(

I don't wanna tackle Molag until I hit VR1 - he whupped me pretty good the last couple times I fought him at 45.

Well it's grind time. Shouldn't have missed those man. But you can hit some coldharbour dungeons if your only half a bar away it should take too many runs

I've seen a few videos on Molag Bal. My problem is health regen - as a vamp it blows but now that I've invested a few skill points into the passive abilities, I think I've mitigated some of the slow health recovery

Molag Bal is a little bioch, he got me once, I got him the next time, 5 minutes later. Anyways, chest deflating, you will go from lv49 to V1. There is no lv50. How ever, none of your gained experience will apply to your XP bar untill you beat him, nor will you be able to move to the next faction's zone to experience V1+ mobs. Dont let him scare you, just go in and try, figure a new strategy, and try again.

The difference between 49 and VR1 is miniscule unless your fully kitted in VR1 Gear even then.

You need to learn to complete the encounter or you cannot progress

    This.

If he was wiping the floor with you at 45, leveling up won't have changed the difficulty of the encounter. Molag Bal is beaten through tactics, not through increased stats.

    As they've all said.

Gotta beat the Bal, then you go and see John Cleese again in the Harborage. He'll give you plenty to do and when you finish that, he'll give you a necklace for your trouble. :/

As far as fighting Bal, it's an Endurance fight. You just need to keep moving and using ranged weapons on him. It takes a while, just be patient. Plenty of stamina pots and health pots should see you through the encounter.
Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

I got him. Took a lot of dodging and blocking (which I didn't do the first few times). I'm a sorc/archer so I blinked away from his teleport/stun attack and just kept firing away at him from a distance.

Thanks for the advice/votes of confidence fellas!

P.S. the two adult beverages I had must've helped

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

I don't get why so many people have problems with molag bal. I killed him on the first attempt without breaking a sweat. Honestly, I've had more trouble with some world bosses (though those are probably not meant to be soloed).

Just do what you should always be doing: stay away from red highlighted ground and block heavy attacks. I just ran cirles around him...

When you fight molag you power is increased by 10x so find an ability that returns hp based on your damage and you are immortal. I as a nightblade used strafe. Fight was stupidly easy.
Hota'h, Dual-wield/bow full medium armor NB Khajiit from day 1.

    You're right about this.

I read that crit surge is the sorceror's best wep against Molag but I don't have mine morphed yet so it just does straight damage. I kept my Twilight up and she healed me, and along with pots, I was able to pull it off.

This is the one fight where I think fighters w/o a ranged attack are at a disadvantage - whether slight or noticeable. I was able to stay out of his stun area and away from that big a$$ mace.

Helpful little hint for those fighting him for your first time: When choosing the NPC to sacrifice before the fight, pick the character who has the weapon you want. You'll receive a reward weapon in that format. I picked The Prophet and got a nice resto staff (I use destro, but eh)
