Think ESO's gonna be a great couch game.

I play ESO on the couch with my wireless mouse and keyboard and 57 inch tv, connected to the PC.

It's probably just a psycho thing, but I dislike a PC in the living room. Yep, I know, I could utilize a media server, install Ethernet or stream wireless, but just buying a PS4, which is specifically designed for the couch experience, seemed like the better or at least easier option.

Have you got any special gear for playing with keyboard and mouse on the couch? I never found a comfortable way to use those, other than sitting in a chair at the table. Which makes the whole experience kinda pointless, as I could just sit in front of my desk instead.

Nothing special, I just have a comfy couch and some ottomans (they double as coffee tables). It's just like using a laptop with where the keyboard goes, and I prop the mouse up on a leather notebook and sit that on a cushion at my side. It's a very comfortable setup and I keep it ergonomic so there's no strain on anything. With my big tv (hooked up to the PC through HDMI) and surround speakers the whole gaming experience is awesome.

It's better than a console because the PC is so much more powerful (running an i7 2600k and a gtx780sc acx), and keyboard and mouse gives way more options than anything else.

I can play games, watch movies, play music, and surf the internet like this. Consoles are nothing compared to the things a PC can do when properly integrated in the home and in the lounge.

Aren't the PS4 and XBox 1 players going to be on their own servers? How's that gonna look if the console sales suck?

I have swivable keyboard mounts all over the place... off poles, attached to ends of chairs and on walls. This was from days of hosting LAN parties. But if I didn't have these just a keyboard on a fat arm rest always did the trick.

But I play ESO mainly with an XBOX controller.. but the keyboard is always right there for when I need it.

A bundle of 5 USB extenders that go to the PC which is kept behind a wall so I don't have to hear its fan noise helps too.

I switch between two different chairs...the upright rocker when I need to play on the edge of my seat, used mostly for FPS's.. and the huge poofy rocker recliner for games like ESO and watching movies.

If you invest in a decent PC chassis, it should be the last one you ever buy as you just continually upgrade it as required. Any initial cost difference is quickly made up with upgrades. My own tower is at least 20 years old.. it has had about 5 system upgrades.

Your hang up is just that.. not based in any fact. Can't you get a keyboard for consoles too? IMO a keyboard doesn't mean something is any less couch friendly.

Best of both worlds here. :)

I play on PC, so get all the juicy graphics and the option of kb/m, but use a gamepad+XPadder which is much more comfortable for me and works quite nicely. And well, I don't even own a console, so...

So, PC for me. But I know a lot of people are going to be ecstatic over the console release, so I'm happy for them.

PS: to the pc vs console people, don't you ever get tired of beating that poor, dead horse?

No upgrade needed for 10 years. Couch, Controller, Cheaper, used games, easier set up, no need to worry about compatibility, ease of use for people who don't do addons and extra stuff, some exclusives that PC will never get.

The most recent Emulator I have found that works is Gamecube. Haven't been able to find a PS2 or Xbox or 360 or any of those. I also have only found 1 reliable Playstation 1 Emulator but the roms don't always work. I still have my PS2 and original Xbox I forgot about them cause I never play. I do have emulators for nintendo, super nintendo, sega, game boy advance.

I am going to be playing on the PS4 exclusively after the console launch but was curious to see what other people are going to be playing on. I am hoping to be able to purchase a character transfer as I wasn't able to join before the deadline, it may be possible if the demand becomes great enough.

PC because I have my Acer Gsync 4K monitor ordered since July (delayed until October) and because ordered two Titan Blacks as birthday present for next week :)

Oh, I've got a powerful gaming rig. I just like my living room cozy and not full of technology. I try to hide most things, but the big screen of course. And I enjoy the classic desk gaming the most anyways, so I'm not willing to put in the work to turn a PC into a console and just bought one.

For the convenience it brings, I can accept the downsides a console naturally brings along as well. But then there are genres (sports, racing, action), which not only play a whole lot better on them, but are exclusive releases sometimes too.

PC and consoles can coexist. Tho I sometimes wished they were kept separated more strictly. Knowing that cross platform gaming will hold back PC game development the next two years at least leaves me sad and happy at the same time; sad due to the untouched potential, but happy thanks to not having to upgrade any time soon.

I love how people are trying to say that they wouldn't do it because they would hate to have to cross play with the console players. This was never going to happen, even when the console version was going to be launched in August. They have always said that the PS4 players would be on one, the Xbox one players would be on another, and the PC players would be on yet another. So there is absolutely NO CROSS PLATFORM for this game, nor should there be. Hell if I can't transfer Madus Penes (current PC character) then Madus Penes on PC will be dead and Madus Penes on PS4 will live. I ask ZOM if they would be willing to offer something that would allow me to do just this and they told me they would only do it if the "Demand" was great enough. So hear I am raising a fuss on the forums because I don't want to see Madus Penes die lol

Unless you want to play a game that's exclusive to a console (or the PC version of it is a not-so-great port of the console version), or you specifically want to play on the console's network, or you just don't have the know-how to put together a decent PC (and troubleshoot any software/hardware issues that may arise), I don't see any reason to ever go console.

I see the point in the simple fact that consoles market to gamer's better bottom line, if you are a PC gamer then you better know how to build your own computer or your SOL. The console gaming community I personally find to be ALLOT more friendly in general, yeah you still get tea bagged but who doesn't enjoy a nice tea bagging every once in awhile. Console player's have a fair playing field throughout the board, because all the players have the SAME specs. PC however if you're not running at moderate to good standards then you can't play most game's period. It's allot more expensive I find to be a PC gamer then it is to be a console player. That is why I will be switching over when the console release comes, the players on ESO PC community are generally not all that friendly unless you know what you're talking about. PC player's believe they are far more superior to console players because they have more finances to funnel into what at the end of the day is nothing more then a hobby.

The UI is so bad I cannot play the game without a few mods to make it a bit more user friendly. Same with Skyrim, installed it again the other day, started it without SkyUI and just could not carry on.

Not sure what you're picturing but my lounge really doesn't resemble a server farm. The computer is away in my work area and the TV is in the lounge, and all connections are hidden by sleek shelving and cabinetry. Just takes a tiny bit of effort to make it all work perfectly, and you just need an HDMI capable GPU (so a fairly new graphics card), plus I use an amp then connect a bunch of speakers and a sub through it all so movies sound amazing too. Only thing that makes you realise that TV is actually now really a monitor is the wireless mouse and keyboard, and when I switch to desktop...though even then have it set up so any icons hide away when I doubleclick the desktop.

Whole thing works brilliantly, one day we'll all have the whole house hooked up through something like that.

Certain types of games are made for, or better on, PC. Some are better suited for consoles. First person shooters, for example, came out on PC first and are much more accurate with a keyboard and mouse. On the other hand, I'd love to be able to play Gran Turismo on my PC, but its better suited for (and only developed for) a console.

When I first bought my 360 to play assassin's creed (before there was a PC version) I could not play shooters on it. Now I don't play shooters on pc at all. It just took a couple of years getting used to it. Some matching issues invasive games aside, I've prefered shooters on consoles since.

ESO was clearly designed for console play. It's the most simplisticly designed MMO I've ever seen, personally, and it's obvious that the aswd+mouse basic control scheme is a PC workaround for controller with 2 sticks....2 mouse buttons=2 triggers. Limited hotkeys and weapon swapping because of limited input on a console controller. And on and on.

Then just look at the design of the game. An elder scrolls game that has an entirely linear storyline and quest progression. Easy and soloable in the vast majority of the content. Unlike most MMOs, there is no clear emphasis on endgame content which, arguably, is intended to be PvP. Taken as a whole, a great argument could be made that this game was designed more for the sensibilities of the average console gamer more so than the average MMO gamer or even rpg gamer in mind.

Then there's the limited hardware utilization as has been discussed. I smell "console" all over that.

I play MMOs on PC, generally. But this one was so obviously intended for consoles it's just silly, IMO. This is a console game..we just got the PC port first. Probably to pay to beta test it and get it to some point of completion for the console versions.
